Old Man Gloom

Old Man Gloom is a sludge/doom metal/post-metal band originally formed in Santa Fe, New Mexico, United States [in 1999], but now based in Massachusetts. The group, formed by Aaron Turner of Isis and Santos Montano, has now expanded to become a sort of supergroup in the Boston hardcore and metalcore scene. The group is less a band than it is a recording project for a variety of talent. -[Wiki]
Old Man Gloom is a project that consists of members of many bands, and I am definitely excited to hear they are banding together again for what looks like an East Coast tour (!) including a stop in Brooklyn at Europa on May 8th with The Austerity Program and Psychic Limb. Tickets for that show are on sale. All (known) tour dates are listed below.

Old Man Gloom on the road will reportedly consist of Aaron Turner (Isis, Mamiffer), Santos Montano (Zozobra), Nate Newton (Converge, Doomriders), Caleb Scofield (Cave-In) and Luke Scarola. So far, no word on a follow-up to their massive Christmas LP from 2004.

All tour dates and a video of OMG at North Six in 2002,below...

"Nevermind"

Posted by Anonymous | March 20, 2012 12:35 PM

I'm sure somewhere a sexless nerd is psyched.

I wonder if the austerity program ever thanked magrudergrind for all that piggyback publicity circa scion drama. Cool show but their involvement is enough to keep me away. No thanks

Logical Nonsense (from Santa Fe, NM) > Old Man Gloom

Posted by D | March 24, 2012 10:20 PM

Nope, Logical Nonsense sucks. Prove me wrong.

Posted by Anonymous | March 24, 2012 11:56 PM

11:56pm Motherfucker you don't know jack...fucking...shit about Logical Nonsense.

I don't have to prove shit. LN made their mark on their state's scene. They didn't have the fortune of a million gazillion blogs, news sites, the last decade, and ex-members of overrated MA bands like OMD have have.

The only thing I have proven is here we have a post about a band originally from Santa Fe, NM and TWO DOZEN posts went by without ONE mention of Logical Nonsense, hands down the most well-known and best band to ever really come out of New Mexico who hailed from Santa Fe, until I, commenter #25, mentioned them, making you all P-O-S-E-U-R-S. And you, 11:56pm are king poseur for taking a shot at them.

Logical Nonsense "Reckoning" the first track on their last album "Expand The Hive" released on Alternative Tentacles in 1997:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QKdwMxQFgD4

Keep in mind this album was released in 1997 so these songs were written in the early-mid '90s.

If they were based on either coast they'd have been alot bigger than they were.

Pres Hall Jazz Band > Logical Nonsense. Prove me wrong.

Posted by Anonymous | March 25, 2012 7:07 AM

Oh it's the Pres Hall Jazz Band idiot from the Sham 69 / Jimmy's Law entry. Get some new material. Stop shamelessly plugging your band/friends' band.

Posted by D | March 25, 2012 3:36 PM

Although I'm debating going...I don't see Cave In, Converge, or Isis as over-rated bands. Like them or not, they're very talented musicians in their own respects, I've just always been on the fences with this particular collaboration

Posted by Anonymous | April 18, 2012 10:26 PM

^ this dude is nervous. He's not sure if he likes sausage.

Posted by Anonymous | April 18, 2012 11:05 PM

Maybe since it's not Isis, Aaron Turner won't expect everybody at the show to start meditating to their music.

Posted by erk | May 4, 2012 8:44 PM
