that dog

And the '90s reunions just keep coming! that dog. will play their first NYC show in 15 years on Thursday, May 24 at Music Hall of Williamsburg. Their old pal Fred Armisen will open. Tickets are on sale this Friday (3/9) at noon (though AmEx presale starts today at noon).

The progeny of LA music biz folks, that dog. formed in 1991 and released three albums of poppy punk, distinguished in part by Petra Haden's scratchy violin playing. "He's Kissing Christian" and "Never Say Never" were staples on alt-rock radio and 120 Minutes. that dog. was put to sleep in 1997 after their third album but the original line-up got back together last August for two sold out hometown shows at the Troubador. Catch up via Spotify or watch a few of their classic videos (some directed by pal Spike Jonze) at the bottom of this post.

Saw them with Beck for all of five smackers at the Middle East in Boston. Felt bad when "Beavis & Butthead" tore them apart...She's somebodies daughter isn't she?

11:40 - 2 of the 3 Haden triplets, daughters of jazz musician, Charlie Haden.

Posted by anonymous | March 7, 2012 11:49 AM

Isn't the third Haden triplet married to Jack Black, of all people

Posted by Anonymous | March 7, 2012 11:53 AM

Dear LA,

We have no interest in these retards and your clown culture. A classic mix of nostalgia and old fashioned showbiz nepotism? Thanks but no thanks. Your welcome to take Armisen off our hands though. (due disclosure: he is never funny)

Regards,

Brooklyn

I just checked and Armisen still isn't funnny.

Posted by Anonymous | March 7, 2012 4:38 PM

12:20, 120 minutes was back, in name only, I think on vh1 classic - it was just straight videos

ok, just looked it up, you're right, it's back with Pinfield on MTV2 also - so there's "VH1 Classic 120 Minutes" which plays videos from the old 120 minutes (cure, replacements, REM, morrissey, etc from 80's, early 90's) and now there's a new "120 Minutes" that I guess plays modern indie stuff (last I saw the show on mtv2 was subterranean)

Posted by Anonymous | March 7, 2012 4:42 PM

4:21 PM - pls expln

Posted by Anonymous | March 7, 2012 4:45 PM

The Rentals were another band from the 90s that also featured the Haden girls on their first record-they released "Friends of P" (anybody putting these ladies down is poorly informed; wicked hot & seriously talented, not sure what this aborted fetus of a poster is talking about).

Posted by Not 4:21, but will gladly explain | March 7, 2012 5:14 PM

^ That Dog? The Rentals? You probably like Weezer too. You have shitty taste. Prove me wrong.

Posted by Anonymous | March 7, 2012 5:23 PM

that band stinks of los angeles smog/smug. i hope they fuck off back to obscurity quickly.

Posted by Anonymous | March 7, 2012 5:24 PM

Your blog looks nice, on the other hand it would be greater if you can use lighter colors as well as a professional design. This will ensure that a lot more readers come to check it out.Informative post by the way!
