The Black Keys

"They weren't pretending to be anywhere but an arena. A giant video backdrop showed splashy animated graphics and black-and-white road trip footage. Banks of spotlights flashed behind the band, and not one but two disco balls were lowered for an encore, "Everlasting Light."" [NY Times]
The Black Keys played their first of two MSG shows with the Arctic Monkeys on 3/12. Here are some pictures of the headliner. More of them, with their setlist, below...

Before all the "walked out" and "hipsters suck" and "hummus" and "meh" comments, just wanted to say I went to this show and thoroughly enjoyed myself. That is all. Ok, let the trolling begin...

Posted by Anonymous | March 15, 2012 11:29 AM

Posted by Anonymous | March 15, 2012 11:29 AM

Posted by Anonymous | March 15, 2012 11:32 AM

11:29 - Fair enough, but could you explain to me if all of you fans were really amazed by "not one, but two disco balls?" I hope no one fainted from the excitement.

Posted by Anonymous | March 15, 2012 11:32 AM

11:32,

Yeah, I wasn't "amazed" by the disco balls at all. I was in West GA and just had fun singing along and rocking out to the two bands. Crazy, right?

Posted by Anonymous | March 15, 2012 11:33 AM

Don't
Don't Believe
Don't Believe The Hype

Yeeeeah Boooooyeeeee

Posted by Anonymous | March 15, 2012 11:34 AM

how were the arctic monkeys

Posted by Anonymous | March 15, 2012 11:37 AM

I'd maybe consider seeing the Black Keys again if they played a small venue and only played stuff before Attack & Release. Fuck this nonsense

Posted by Anonymous | March 15, 2012 11:39 AM

up front in GA. fantastic show. right on 11:33.

Posted by teddylishus | March 15, 2012 11:39 AM

hope they are enjoying their fifteen minutes

Posted by Anonymous | March 15, 2012 11:39 AM

"rocking out" to the two bands

exactly what the fuck is wrong with the people who like this shit

Posted by Anonymous | March 15, 2012 11:43 AM

These days I only listen to white noise from outer space. You've probably never hear of it.

Posted by Anonymous | March 15, 2012 11:43 AM

The crowd at this was very odd. Lots of old folks..and "bros". I just think they got too big. Good show though.

Posted by Anonymous | March 15, 2012 11:44 AM

Where is the Arctic Monkeys set list and photos?! Alex, where are you????

Posted by Anonymous | March 15, 2012 11:45 AM

^ They didn't accept 11:44's fake ID at the beer stand.

Posted by Anonymous | March 15, 2012 11:46 AM

Dana... have you ever heard of a wide shot? These close ups could have been taken anywhere....

Shitty fucking photogs. BV really going downhill.

Posted by Anonymous | March 15, 2012 11:50 AM

i'm not going to another fucking black keys concert until they get a third disco ball. that was complete fucking bullshit. two? TWO? how the fuck am i supposed to rock out to two?

Posted by Anonymous | March 15, 2012 11:53 AM

i never connected with the arctic monkeys, perhaps after all these years that's why they're still an opening act, they got the guitars, they got the noise, but they're missing the rock and the roll... the black keys, i saw open for radiohead at the msg theatre many moons ago... they were just a rough rockin' two piece, now they're headlining the big room... they're an enjoyable act, good rhythms, good tunes... their new stuff is great pop rock, hail the return of guitar rock, there are not many good guitar rock bands out there...

Posted by Anonymous | March 15, 2012 11:54 AM

This band is going to go the way of Kings of Leon, you saw it here first

Posted by Anonymous | March 15, 2012 11:56 AM

Wide shots are what made this country great.

Posted by Ansel "Frohawk" Adams | March 15, 2012 11:57 AM

11:43,

Can you please instruct us on what we should do at shows? Also, who should we be listening to? Really, I'd love to know...

Posted by Anonymous | March 15, 2012 11:58 AM

Bass solo!

Posted by Anonymous | March 15, 2012 12:00 PM

i have seen the black keys 3 times. each time i was at the front of the stage. each time it was for FREE at SXSW.

Posted by Anonymous | March 15, 2012 12:06 PM

More shots of the crowd please so we can see how NOT Sold Out it was.

Posted by Anonymous | March 15, 2012 12:11 PM

I was there-saw arctic monkeys-sound check guy came out for BK-MSG started getting packed-BK's came out-crowed went absolutely batshat-first chord was played.........and i WTFO

Posted by Anonymous | March 15, 2012 12:25 PM

amazed that they're playing two nights at msg. good for them

Posted by Anonymous | March 15, 2012 12:28 PM

I walked the fuck out of this show.

Posted by Anonymous | March 15, 2012 12:35 PM

I walked the fuck out of this show after it ended.

Posted by Anonymous | March 15, 2012 12:38 PM

this was a great show and was fucking packed. i know it kills some of you that people enjoy the black keys, but you're just going to have to live with it. all your elitist, holier-than-thou, too cool for school vitriol doesn't make a bit of difference and has zero impact on ANYTHING. no one fucking cares what you think! get over yourselves, for fuck's sake.

Posted by Anonymous | March 15, 2012 12:41 PM

When one guy is at one side of the stage and the other guy is all the way to the other side (and they are only 2 people in the band) wide shots are not really possible to take especially when you shoot from a very narrow and low pit with 20 other photographers in your frame. Sometimes we can't get the shots we want and wished for. Instead of complaining on something someone else did when you're not even there try to appreciate what they did get. Music photography is not as easy as you think. Is being nice hurts that bad?

Posted by Anonymous | March 15, 2012 12:54 PM

12:38: You gotta stop procrastinating and strike while the iron is hot! Otherwise you'll just be left behind.

Posted by Anonymous | March 15, 2012 12:57 PM

Show was great from GA. People can hate (troll) all they want, but the Black Keys haven't put out a bad album yet. Albums that don't sound as much like their old ones, yes. But still better than 99% of the shit out there.

Posted by Anonymous | March 15, 2012 1:05 PM

yeah, their fifteen minutes has already outlasted most bands' careers.

Posted by Anonymous | March 15, 2012 1:06 PM

Arctic Monkeys setlist please?

Posted by Anonymous | March 15, 2012 1:13 PM

11:56, they wouldn't cancel a show even if pigeons shit in their mouths

Yeah I'm surprised these guys got so big, but good on them I guess.

Posted by Anonymous | March 15, 2012 1:13 PM

the show was great from the corporate boxes... we opened a new bottle of champagne at the start of each song... I love going to see hip new music.

Posted by Anonymous | March 15, 2012 1:14 PM

Here's the Arctic Monkeys set list:

1.Brianstorm
2.This House Is a Circus
3.Still Take You Home
4.Library Pictures
5.Don't Sit Down 'Cause I've Moved Your Chair
6.The View from the Afternoon
7.I Bet You Look Good On The Dancefloor
8.Pretty Visitors
9.Teddy Picker
10.Crying Lightning
11.She's Thunderstorms
12.Fluorescent Adolescent
13.If You Were There, Beware
14.Evil Twin
15.Brick by Brick
16.R U Mine?

As ALWAYS, the Arctic Monkeys were brilliant and had no problem filling Madison Square G with their glorious sounds.

Can't tell you anything about Black Keys because we left promptly after Arctic Monkeys. It was almost comical that they were the openers (only in the land of ignorance - america. And I'm american).

No disrespect to the Black Keys, but they're sort of a retread of old musical ideas whereas the Arctic Monkeys are creating original music that teems with intelligence, incredibly-catchy melodies and musical talent that blows the doors off.

There's really no comparison.

Posted by Anonymous | March 15, 2012 1:17 PM

1154am You have to understand Arctic Monkeys have headlined Glastonbury, T in the park, Reading/Leeds and many other huge festivals. Black Keys will never make it big out of US!

Arctic Monkeys > Black Keys

Posted by Anonymous | March 15, 2012 1:19 PM

Each generation deserves its own Humble Pie.

Posted by ivanomartin | March 15, 2012 1:25 PM

Wow you mean the Arctic Monkeys headlined big festivals in their own country? Kind of like the Black Keys have done here? In their own country? Seems like strange coincidences since the Arctic Monkeys are so good and the Black Keys are so bad.

Posted by Anonymous | March 15, 2012 1:35 PM

i love the "they've headlined such and such before" or "they're HUGE in wherever" comments/arguments.

AM are from the UK. of course they're big there. the black keys are from ohio. the US is always slower to embrace groups, likely b/c there is such a glut of them from here. on the other hand, the UK and the rest of Europe seem to get instantly fanatical about any number of bands, without a ton of reason for it. see muse as a perfect example, kings of leon, and even AM. they are cool and edgy and have been successful from a young age, but they are not THAT incredible nor original. ever heard of the strokes?

Posted by Anonymous | March 15, 2012 1:35 PM

1:17 and 1:19 are crazy. Don't you guys realize that Black Keys has two disco balls? How many disco balls does Arctic Monkeys have?

Posted by Anonymous | March 15, 2012 1:37 PM

Overrated

Posted by Anonymous | March 15, 2012 1:40 PM

1:25 - the depths of your idiocy are unfathomable

Humble Pie:
Steve Marriott (Small Faces, solo)
Peter Frampton (even you should know that name)
Greg Ridley (Spooky Tooth)
Jerry Shirley (Fastway, Joey Molland from Badfinger, David Gilmour, Alexis Korner, Billy Nicholls, Syd Barrett, John Entwistle, Sammy Hagar)

Black Sabbath frontman, Ozzy Osbourne, named Marriott the fourth greatest singer and Clem Burke of Blondie named him the sixteenth greatest singer and wrote under his name, "greatest rock singe[r]." Paul Stanley of Kiss has said, "He had a great voice" and went on to say, "Steve Marriott was unbelievable". Keith Richards listed Marriott as one of his five favourite artists of all time. Steve Perry, of Journey fame, has claimed that, "One of my favourite vocalists was Steve Marriott."While discussing Kevin DuBrow with Billboard.com, Quiet Riot bassist Rudy Sarzo said "If there was anybody that Kevin would say 'I try to sing like,' it would be Steve Marriott."

The Black Keys are no Humble Pie

Posted by Anonymous | March 15, 2012 1:51 PM

11:54 - sorry you never "connected" with the arctic monkeys. perhaps it's your tin ear or lack of appreciation for brilliantly original ROCK music that features not one, but TWO electric guitars!

"after all these years that's why they're still an opening act"

arctic monkeys gave been around 6 years. they only open for other, inferior bands in THIS country, the good ole IGNORANT usa. their first album is still the fastest selling release in the HISTORY of music - that includes the beatles, michael jackson and every one else.

in 15 years they'll be enshrining the arctic monkeys in that comical rock n' roll hall of fame, and everyone will be saying, "the black keys? weren't they that white stripes rip-off band?"

Posted by Anonymous | March 15, 2012 1:52 PM

"brilliantly original ROCK music that features not one, but TWO electric guitars"

Wow, two guitars? You mean, they're playing them simultaneously? Amazing - we've never seen that before! That must be quite epic!

Posted by Anonymous | March 15, 2012 1:56 PM

If the Brits had it their way, Kasabian and Arctic Monkeys would play Giants Stadium here. Not gonna happen...

Posted by Anonymous | March 15, 2012 1:56 PM

hey 1:35 - the difference is, the strokes SUCK and the arctic monkeys are brilliant. just because YOU can't hear it, doesn't mean they aren't.

the american public can't be blamed for not recognizing true artistic talent in ANY field. they don't know any better. look at the movies that are popular here (as opposed to 'films' that intelligent people view), and the music in the charts. embarrassing, really.

america is a culture-less, shallow, homogenized wasteland of (un)reality television and prescription drugs.

dream on.

"their first album is still the fastest selling release in the HISTORY of music"

in Djibuti

Posted by Anonymous | March 15, 2012 1:59 PM

1:58,

Are you from England? Do you know how many shitty bands your country has hyped before?

I love the Arctic Monkeys but, the English music scene seems to bust a nut over every new "garage rock guitar" band each month.

Posted by Anonymous | March 15, 2012 2:00 PM

1:58 is going to be the first on site to build his makeshift dwelling in Zuccotti Park this summer

Posted by Anonymous | March 15, 2012 2:02 PM

As an American, I can only hope that the day never comes where my life becomes so pointless and sad that I go onto a UK music blog to talk shit about UK culture and it's people. I would really have no need to keep on living then.

Posted by Anonymous | March 15, 2012 2:05 PM

wow, the AM fluffer who's getting his panties (knickers?) in a bunch here sure is full of hot air. you go on with your bad self, buddy, even if you're their #1 fan. hahaa

Posted by Anonymous | March 15, 2012 2:06 PM

^ it's PM now, you silly American

Posted by Arctic Monkies fan #1 | March 15, 2012 2:08 PM

THE Monkeys > Arctic Monkeys

Posted by Anonymous | March 15, 2012 2:15 PM

when my "hot air" elicits such responses, i know i'm having an effect. only mentioned the 2 guitars, 1:56, because an earlier poster questioned the arctic monkeys ROCK credentials (i know, amazing).

and a-hole, i mean 1:59 - fastest selling music album in british history (you may refer to it as "england").

and 2:00? i'm from long island, old enough to be yer father. and i couldn't care less what the "english music scene" hypes or bashes; i listen with my own ears and make my own determinations. the fact of the matter is, IN GENERAL, british rock bands are vastly more original, talented and innovative than the majority of pedestrian american bands (especially the losers who keep coming to brooklyn to make it 'big').

and 2:05 - the fact that you were able to post your sad comment already reveals that you "really have no need to keep on living."

let's hope BV is around in a few years so we can continue to discuss the astronomical rise of the arctic monkeys on the world's musical stage.

Posted by Anonymous | March 15, 2012 2:19 PM

You trendies don't like metal which I can understand. But this? Seriously? You like THIS SHIT? LOLOLOLOL

Posted by Anonymous | March 15, 2012 2:23 PM

^nah, metal is retarded, but square white blues is not my bag either. Who are these people who go to shows like this? Business dudes who got free tickets?

Posted by Anonymous | March 15, 2012 2:26 PM

135pm obviously you've never been to any festivals in Europe. They're much bigger and Glastonbury doesn't book shitty headliners. They will never ever book the Black Keys to headline. Simple fact is AM are better than Black Keys.

End of story!

Posted by Anonymous | March 15, 2012 2:34 PM

can the 'sausage' commenters come up with a name for fans of this type of bullshit?

Posted by Anonymous | March 15, 2012 2:40 PM

You miserable fucking cunts.

Posted by Anonymous | March 15, 2012 3:09 PM

3:09 - i think its great that you like and appreciate both bands. i just think arctic monkeys are superior. just an opinion.

it's the arctic monkey bashers that are the TRUE losers.

Posted by Anonymous | March 15, 2012 3:17 PM

2:19 is an undercover sausage. I've seen her drivel over in the Autopsy thread. She failed there, and continues to fail here.

Bad Sausage! Back in the cage, and no treat for you!

Posted by Anonymous | March 15, 2012 3:21 PM

"can the 'sausage' commenters come up with a name for fans of this type of bullshit?"

AIDS patients.

Posted by Anonymous | March 15, 2012 3:23 PM

Undercover sausage
Mental infancy
Never touched a woman
And smell like pepperoni

Posted by Anonymous | March 15, 2012 3:25 PM

Ha Ha the sausage thinks she's so smart, so "anonymous"
Fucking silly sausage
Music is for humans
Go post how you almost slipped in the pit at the last sausage show you attended (although all you REALLY remember was what's-his-name that you sucked off in the bathroom)

Posted by Anonymous | March 15, 2012 3:28 PM

12:54 - Maybe if you just didn't use that one long lens that you're so fond of, you'd be able to take a decent picture or two.

No... that's because most photographers today have no idea what the fuck they are doing, because digital photography has made everything so fucking easy.

This is a shitty set of photos. No two ways about it. A completely lazy effort.

Posted by Anonymous | March 15, 2012 3:29 PM

C'mon sausage, I can still smell you

Posted by Anonymous | March 15, 2012 3:31 PM

I don't really know Arctic Monkeys, but the singer did jam with Elvis Costello, and I love EC so they're cool I guess. The Black Keys that I have heard are pretty good. For me I think it's going to see any band at MSG. I hate the arena experience. Too much drama, and often bad sound (depending on where you are).

Posted by Anonymous | March 15, 2012 3:34 PM

Let's just leave Humble Pie out of this argument. They were way way better than any band mentioned on this blog at anytime this month. Way better!!

Posted by Smack | March 15, 2012 3:56 PM

I love the trendies getting all riled up when THEIR favorite bands get knocked on. Dish, but can't take. That's the hypocritical motto. Perhaps it's your obsession with sausage (in more orfices, I mean, ways than one) that made you sick (literally!) in the first place. Should've curbed those cravings!

Posted by Anonymous | March 15, 2012 3:58 PM

The black keys do have some energy on the stage... I bet it's from the power of PHYTO-NUTRIENTS.

Posted by Anonymous | March 15, 2012 4:16 PM

there is going to be a ticket dump at 5pm today for the show on the 22nd

Posted by Anonymous | March 15, 2012 4:52 PM

3:29 None of the photos above were taken with a long lens you smart ass and I'm sure you would have taken much better photos but hey, you were not there at the pit cos you're probably a fucking lousy photographer who didn't score a shoot since the "digital era" started. Shitty photos or not I'm pretty sure the last thing you can call any of the photographers shooting this show is lazy. Lazy is a fucking asshole sitting at home on his fat ass and making comments about other people's work. Go play with your analog equipment that doesn't worth much more just like your loser self.

Posted by Anonymous | March 15, 2012 5:14 PM

i couldnt even pull a single ticket at 5. anyone?

Posted by Anonymous | March 15, 2012 5:15 PM

lol bv commenters just make me sad now and they used to make me laugh lol

Posted by Anonymous | March 15, 2012 5:30 PM

Anybody remember that great Humble Pie jam "I Don't Need No Hummus"?

Posted by Anonymous | March 15, 2012 5:42 PM

PeePee CaCa PooPoo!

Posted by Anonymous | March 15, 2012 5:59 PM

I hate this, and you.

Posted by Anonymous | March 15, 2012 6:41 PM

Saw the show in philly and nyc, 1st night. Excellent!

It's entertainment folks no need to get hummus in your frohawks with sausage fests too much ironically bearded.

BTW, in my section, I'd have to say about 20% of the seats were empty. I was in the 300's at msg.

OK, you may continue hummus-ing with frohawkian beards.

Posted by Anonymous | March 15, 2012 8:37 PM

Arctic monkeys greater than anything is pretty funny. Cute.

Posted by Anonymous | March 15, 2012 8:38 PM

the arctic monkeys fanatic must be joking right?

Posted by Anonymous | March 15, 2012 8:38 PM

arctic monkeys

Posted by stephen costello | March 15, 2012 10:02 PM

With a candy assed name like 'arctic monkeys', it's no wonder they'll always be the jizz-moppers for bands with more badass names. Plus, unless you're a sword-swallowing techno-homo, does anybody really
give a fuck about anything going on in the UK over the past decade, save for the latest bout of austerity riots?
Yes, the US is a superpower in decline, but that's kinda cool. England, et al are has beens, both politically and musically.

BTW the photography is fine. Stop whining, you stupid cunts. Reading your idiotic criticism is hurting my eyes.

Posted by Anonymous | March 15, 2012 11:02 PM

Oh, and another thing. BKs are from Akron Fucking
Ohio. Which automatically makes them badass. Motherfuckers who escape from that place end up ok after a couple of years of post-akron rehabilitation.
Those who stay end up either sucking cock at the corner of V Odom blvd and east ave for crack or playing in shitty quiet twee bands (like trouble books) and become jaded, gossipy bitter homos (like trouble
books. Oh, and the rest of akrons music scene).
So good on them for escaping and becoming huge.

the Artic Monkeys suck so bad, and the singer has an irritating face!

Posted by Anonymous | March 16, 2012 7:59 AM

Thom Yorke has an irritating face too.

Posted by Anonymous | March 16, 2012 8:59 AM

You know what makes Arctic Monkeys dude and Thom Yorke easier to take?

Well, I'll give you a hint => it's been around since 1608, it's triple distilled, it comes in a bottle .....

Posted by Anonymous | March 16, 2012 9:11 AM

sorry he's bnot your taste in boyfriends, 7:59, but alex turner is one of the best songwriters to come along in YEARS.

and no fanatacism 8:38. its just stating the obvious (to anyone with a modicum of intelligence and music knowledge/appreciation: arctic monkeys are the best band around, bar none.

akron ohio ain't shit and neither are the white stripe rip-offs the 'black keys' (SO original!!)

and 11:02 is so useless it ain't worth responding......LOSER!.

Posted by Anonymous | March 16, 2012 9:12 AM

all snark aside, i'll be surprised if the arctic monkeys are still around 5 years from now.

their contributions to music will be relatively forgotten. get over it, psycho fan.

Posted by Anonymous | March 16, 2012 9:59 AM

How unaware do you have to be in order to believe that Arctic Monkeys are the best band around?

Posted by Anonymous | March 16, 2012 10:06 AM

i wish we could meet, 9:59, because i'd be willing to bet you $25,000 (and i will physically put the cash in an escrow account while you watch) that the arctic monkeys will not only be around in 5 years, but that they will be written about for 25 years and more.

arctic monkeys contributions to music will be forgotten about by the simple-minded americans (confession: i'm american but a bit more complex) because they aren't understood by said americans in the first place; their musical tastes and expectations have been DUMBED down. it'll be the music critics that will continue to fawn over the arctic monkeys and continue to praise them - along with the majority of the world's rock music lovers.

i wish i could hear the future conversations:

child - mom/dad, did you listen to the arctic monkeys when you were younger? did you ever see them in concert??

parent - no, unfortunately i was listening to the hold steady, dirty ptojectors and animal collective. wanna listen with me?

child (runs screaming from the room).

Posted by Anonymous | March 16, 2012 10:09 AM

^I think I get it now. Apparently Arctic Monkeys have exerted some kind of mind control. There's no way anyone could rationally think this way.

Posted by Anonymous | March 16, 2012 10:44 AM

I'm not even sure these "I love Arctic Monkeys, but I'm an American" posts are all from the same person. I think someone saw that there was a soft spot here, and so they figured it would be funny to sit back and watch everyone else get all riled up while they posted some of the most ridiculous exaggerations imaginable.

Posted by Anonymous | March 16, 2012 12:50 PM

meh

Posted by Anonymous | March 16, 2012 1:31 PM

being an atheist, there's nothing for me to swear on, but i assure you that i am responsible for all the posts praising the artic monkeys.

no agenda. no mental illness.

just the fact that they are the most talented and exciting band to appear in YEARS. the hooks, clever lyrics and incredible musicianship is reminiscent of when bands like the buzzcocks, clash, jam, etc. first stormed these shores over 30 years ago.

yes, i'm old.

but if people put aside their teenage snarkiness and just give them a listen, they may be able to appreciate the brilliance of the arctic monkeys; their new album, "suck it and see" is frighteningly good.

so, welcome haters and misguided posters. you can bash me and the arctic monkeys, but history will prove that they are one of the more important bands of the early 21st century.

and i'm just a little bit more open-minded and knowledgeable when it comes to discerning great music from all the rest.

Posted by Anonymous | March 16, 2012 1:38 PM

Arctic Monkeys dude, you are hilarious. You are joking, right? AM started off as a lame Libertines rip off and have only gotten worse from there...

Posted by LOL'ster | March 16, 2012 1:48 PM

LOL'ster - i try and give everyone the benefit of the doubt, but we all reach a certain level of exasperation.

all i can say (and i say it confidently, without hesitation and absolutely honestly) is that anyone who cannot recognize that the arctic monkeys are vastly superior to 99% of the "rock" bands out there today knows NOTHING about music.

doesn't mean you have to like them, buy their music, go to their concerts, etc. you can like scissor sisters or titus andonicus way more.

BUT one must RECOGNIZE musical talent that they themselves may not appreciate. that is the mark of an intelligent, informed, TRUE listener of music.

for instance, i am not a fan of bruce springsteen. never saw him live, don't own a single song. but i recognize his talent, songwriting ability and musicianship. he just doesn't speak to me.

Posted by Anonymous | March 16, 2012 2:12 PM

Old guy with a court-ordered ankle tracker and a restriction to stay at least 500 yards from school zones is the Arctic Monkeys retard? I feel kind of let down, like when Toto pulls the curtain back to expose the shrimp boat Mayor McCheese doing the whole Wizard of Oz thing.

Posted by Anonymous | March 16, 2012 2:12 PM

SUMMARY OF THE AM FAN GUYS POSTS:

So, basically some old guy hasn't listened to any new bands for a while, someone turned him onto the Arctic Monkeys and now they embody what rock n' roll is "supposed to be, mannnnn".

Posted by Anonymous | March 16, 2012 2:27 PM

Gonna see a whole lotta old guys at the Allman Bros show tonight. Could be that our Arctic Monkeys tard is among them?

Posted by Anonymous | March 16, 2012 2:36 PM

if over 50 is old - guilty.

won't be at the allman bros. - not into dinosaur hippie music.

nobody turned me onto arctic monkeys - they made a pretty incredible case for themselves with their debut.

unlike most of my generation who went away to college with their albums in milk crates and came home and played the SAME records for the rest of their lives, i continued checking out NEW music, going to clubs like cbgb, hurrah, irving plaza (opening nite '79), the ritz, peppermint lounge, etc., etc., ETC.

so, i'm entitled to my opinion, it carries a bit more weight than those of snarky hipsters, and it remains: Arctic Monkeys are vastly superior in every regard to nearly EVERY rock band in existance and you can be sure they will remain a part of the lexicon for MANY years to come.

just sayin'.

Posted by Anonymous | March 16, 2012 5:45 PM

postscript:

correction - didn't post EVERY pro-arctic monkeys comment(i.e. didn't repeat a line ad infinitum). only the halfway intelligent/amusing ones.

as my previous post should've implied, i STILL continue to follow "new" bands such as: arcade fire, clipse, duke spirit, fleet foxes, interpol, spoon, vampire weekend, xx, etc. gotta keep an open mind.

music really is like a shark; ya gotta keep moving forward or ya die.

peace out.

Posted by Anonymous | March 16, 2012 8:36 PM
