The Shins at LPR last week (more by Dominick Mastrangelo)
The Shins

When we first announced that The Shins would be touring in support of their new album, Port of Morrow (due out 3/20), the only time the band's schedule brought them to NYC was for SNL and a secret LPR show last week. They've since tacked on three dates at Terminal 5 to their tour which happen on April 29, April 30, and May 1. Tickets for all three shows go on sale Friday (3/16) at noon with an AmEx presale starting Wednesday (3/14) at noon.

Updated dates and videos of the band's SNL performances below...

Sunday, Monday, and Tues at T5?
My 3 least favorite nights of the week to go out. Fail.

Posted by Anonymous | March 13, 2012 11:04 AM

lol I hope all the shows get downgraded to at least webster hall

Posted by Anonymous | March 13, 2012 11:04 AM

3 nights?

Posted by whatever the opposite of Scalp City is | March 13, 2012 11:12 AM

Fred Armisen > Jason Sudeikis
true fact

Posted by Anonymous | March 13, 2012 11:12 AM

fucking t5. shouldve guessed.

Posted by Anonymous | March 13, 2012 11:17 AM

almost $45 after ticketmaster fees? way too much.

Posted by Anonymous | March 13, 2012 11:22 AM

prepare to be really bored. Like more boring than this season of the Walking Dead.

Posted by Anonymous | March 13, 2012 11:26 AM

I already fell asleep

Posted by Anonymous | March 13, 2012 11:27 AM

Last time the Shins played T5 was by far the worst concert I've ever been to. And I'm a fan of theirs. Bored band and apathetic hipsters make for an awful show.

Posted by Anonymous | March 13, 2012 11:33 AM

The new stuff sounds good, but 3 nights at T5? They could totally do one night at The Beacon or something. A better venue would at least justify the $45.

Posted by Anonymous | March 13, 2012 11:36 AM

Surprised they didn't just book one show at Rumsey Playfield.

Posted by Anonymous | March 13, 2012 11:36 AM

James Mercer must really think highly of himself.

Posted by Anonymous | March 13, 2012 11:39 AM

I wish BV would put when it's T5 in the headline so I know not to bother clicking through. Pass.

Posted by Anonymous | March 13, 2012 11:42 AM

Summerstage would've been nice.

Posted by Anonymous | March 13, 2012 11:54 AM

T5 is gross

Posted by Anonymous | March 13, 2012 11:59 AM

wouldve paid 45 for beacon or summerstage-more for radio city, but at t5? doubt ill even go. COME ON GUYS ITS THE WORST FUCKING VENUE WHY YOU GOTTA PLAY THERE?

Posted by Anonymous | March 13, 2012 12:01 PM

3 shows at T5 = too many tickets, there will be cheap tickets day of the show. No way I'm paying $45 for Terminal Fucking 5.

Posted by Anonymous | March 13, 2012 12:32 PM

I'm gonna either buy these day of show, or hold it out till a summerstage show gets announced. There's a good chance I'll fall asleep with the show at terminal 5 and I'd rather be outside.

Posted by Anonymous | March 13, 2012 12:36 PM

over rated... they should open for garbage...

Posted by Anonymous | March 13, 2012 12:47 PM

How many original Shins are left?

Posted by Anonymous | March 13, 2012 1:06 PM

12:36,

Why would there be a Summerstage show announced? Band is already going to have a hard time filling 3 nights at T5.

Posted by Anonymous | March 13, 2012 1:41 PM

cool story bro.

omg i always wanted to say that!

Posted by Anonymous | March 13, 2012 1:50 PM

Last year the decemberists played three sold out dates at beacon, then played a prospect park show so it's hardly a stretch.

Posted by Anonymous | March 13, 2012 1:54 PM

Mercer is the only Shin left and the only one that matters.

Posted by Anonymous | March 13, 2012 1:59 PM

i don't like this band, and i thought they were boring as hell on snl this past wknd.

SHINS+SUN/MON/TUE+T5 = EPIC FAIL

Posted by Anonymous | March 13, 2012 2:12 PM

THE YANNS

Posted by Anonymous | March 13, 2012 2:16 PM

I hope they play Garden State in the background! Yippie!

Posted by Anonymous | March 13, 2012 2:27 PM

Their transformation in to The Shins, Inc. is such a drag. It makes it hard to enjoy the still undeniably great Chutes Too Narrow.

Posted by Anonymous | March 13, 2012 2:52 PM

2:52,

Yeah but Mercer wrote all the songs anyways so it's not like the other dudes contributed much. Plus, he HAD to kick out the fat dudes so the band could still pull that bomb hipster puss on the road.

Posted by Anonymous | March 13, 2012 3:04 PM

The noble thing would've been if Mercer dissolved The Shins and embarked on a solo career. Then on a solo tour he could play Shins favorites and whatever new stuff. But off course "The Shins" brand = big money.

Posted by Anonymous | March 13, 2012 3:22 PM

Saw them on their last tour and no real desire to see them again. Besides I already spent all my money on Radiohead.

Posted by Anonymous | March 13, 2012 3:30 PM

I know he wrote all the Chutes songs but that record has an energy that comes from learning the songs with a band. Of course I could just be projecting that. To me the new stuff sounds decent but uninspired. Like it was written alone, demo-ed alone & handed to some hired guns.

Posted by Anonymous | March 13, 2012 3:45 PM

definitely not attending these shows (coming from bk t5 might as well be in new jersey).. but why are people complaining about it being on a sunday/monday/tues? it's not like the shows will go late and it's better to go to shows on nights that don't interfere with other fun things.

Posted by Anonymous | March 13, 2012 4:15 PM

Terrible. Just terrible. They were awful on SNL. Bored me to tears. Never understood this band. Never will. Broken Bells far better.

Posted by Anonymous | March 13, 2012 4:23 PM

Why are people complaining? Are you new here?

Posted by Anonymous | March 13, 2012 4:23 PM

people are complaining because they have jobs they need to be at early in the am, believe it or not. it's a crazy concept, i know.

Posted by Anonymous | March 13, 2012 4:26 PM

4:26,

It's called SACKING THE FUCK UP. If you're not a total puss or a total loser, you can stay up late from time to time AND work in the morning.

Posted by Anonymous | March 13, 2012 4:55 PM

God this website pisses me off... You ALL would have groveled at the feet of James Mercer a decade ago if you were hipster balls dropped ten years earlier

Posted by Anonymous | March 13, 2012 6:12 PM

What's up, Cat Martino? You're all over this thing...good going, girl!

Posted by Anonymous | March 13, 2012 6:14 PM

They'll be done by 11pm. You'll be in bed by a decent hour.

Posted by Anonymous | March 13, 2012 6:28 PM

Sorry but I do not consider this tour to be "The Shins" -- this should just be renamed "The James Mercer Band."

Posted by Groucho | March 13, 2012 7:05 PM

"Groveled at the feet of James Mercer"?? Let's not get carried away here.

Posted by Anonymous | March 13, 2012 7:18 PM

I love the Shins but hate Terminal 5 more. DOWN WITH TERMINAL 5!!! Worst venue in NYC.

Posted by Anonymous | March 13, 2012 8:17 PM

Can someone explain what is so wrong with Terminal 5? Plenty of bars, outdoor lounge, small intimate stage, and it has attracted a lot of big names over the past few years. Bands that you may never get the chance to see in a small venue. Sound is fine too. I have seen plenty of shows there. Is this just BK hipsters to lazy to travel to the west side?

Posted by Anonymous | March 13, 2012 8:31 PM

"Can someone explain what is so wrong with Terminal 5?"

"Sound is fine too."

My biggest complaint is the sound. Awful.

"to lazy to travel to the west side?"

That has some to do with it, although it is easier to get to T5 than Williamsburg (if you do not live there).

The venue has no character. Other venues of that size, Hammerstein and Roseland, just feel better. T5 is soulless.

Posted by Anonymous | March 13, 2012 8:42 PM

Tried so hard to get tickets to SNL but I thought the performance was rather dull. I look forward to better effort at the shows. I'm definitely going.

Posted by Mike | March 13, 2012 9:04 PM

From this is seems like not a little people gpoing to the shows . . . .fine more shins for me! LOL

Posted by Anonymous | March 14, 2012 12:32 AM

FUCKING BV GOT THE PRE-SALE TIME WRONG!!! FUCK!

Posted by Anonymous | March 14, 2012 4:20 PM

"small intimate stage,"

"Sound is fine too"

"Bands that you may never get the chance to see in a small venue"

All wrong and moronic statements. There is nothing small or intimate about T5 or it's stage. Sound is terrible.

Let me guess you tool, you live in jersey somewhere right?

Fucking know nothing idiot but i guess that explains why you still like The Shins in 2012.

Posted by Anonymous | March 14, 2012 4:45 PM

So this is what you "sausage" commenters like? LOLOLOLOL

Posted by Anonymous | March 14, 2012 4:54 PM

Shins Killed it on SNL! Have you guys seen the video for "simple song"? Such an original idea for a video.

Posted by dave | March 18, 2012 4:02 PM
