Jack White
Jack White
---

Jack White, no longer in the White Stripes, has a solo album on the way. Jack played two of the new songs live last night on Saturday Night Live, a show that recently featured performances by Sleigh Bells, Bon Iver, Justin Timberlake as Bon Iver, Lana Del Rey, and Kristen Wiig as Lana Del Rey. First he performed "Love Interruption" with an all girl band, and then "Sixteen Saltines" with all guys. Watch both SNL videos, intros by host Lindsay Lohan included, below. Bonus points if you can name some of his band members...

Loved the White Stripes but everything else he's done has been shitty. Why?

Carla Azur from Autolux is one drummer.

Fiddler = Fats Kaplan

That second song is badass

Posted by Anonymous | March 4, 2012 1:13 PM

I like the second song a lot. How about some NY gigs Jack White? or are we going to have to wait till "free" summer shows gets announced...

I'm hoping for Jack White at Bowery Ballroom:)

Posted by Anonymous | March 4, 2012 1:14 PM

both songs were balls out. are you not watching the vids?

Posted by Anonymous | March 4, 2012 1:15 PM

This stuff is SO much better than Raconteurs/Dead Weather. Glad he's still got it.

Posted by Anonymous | March 4, 2012 1:15 PM

It's so inventive that he had an all female backing band for the first song and then an all male band for the second one. WHAT WILL HE THINK OF NEXT???

Posted by Amy Sandberg | March 4, 2012 1:21 PM

singer = Ruby Amanfu

....also the delta in talent between Carla Azur and Meg White is hard to comprehend.

Jack continues to impress. Haven't been disappointed yet. No one else could make me almost like ICP. Kind of almost.

best musical performance on SNL this season. but everyone of the comedy skits sucked, not a single good one.

Posted by Anonymous | March 4, 2012 1:38 PM

All of those chicks in his band combined do not raise a candle to Meg.

Posted by Anonymous | March 4, 2012 1:46 PM

Who cares? I mean, seriously.

Posted by Anonymous | March 4, 2012 1:49 PM

What happened to the world's worst drummer? Meg, we miss your Emperor's New Clothes talent.

Posted by Anonymous | March 4, 2012 1:52 PM

1:46 - never played the drums, but give me 1 hour & I could do better than Meg - what does she add besides gimmick value?

Posted by Anonymous | March 4, 2012 1:56 PM

Jack White was the only shining light on a dismal episode of SNL. And not just because Lindsay Lohan sucked (she did), but because the writing was awful last night. Not one good sketch. Last night's episode was the bottom of the shitheap... the worst episode I've seen in years.

Posted by Anonymous | March 4, 2012 2:06 PM

what's with the violin?

Posted by Anonymous | March 4, 2012 2:07 PM

charles manson & his cult looked better & wrote better songs than this shitty circus

Posted by Anonymous | March 4, 2012 2:12 PM

Ikey Owens

Bit of a step down from Mars Volta?

Posted by Anonymous | March 4, 2012 3:20 PM

The most overrated musician out there.

Posted by Anonymous | March 4, 2012 3:22 PM

How is he in town this long and not doing a gig? I was POSITIVE he'd announce something last second...good thing I wasn't holding my breath.

Posted by Anonymous | March 4, 2012 3:43 PM

White Stripes, Raconteurs, Dead Weather, "Play It Loud"..., Shit, anything with Jack White in it sucks big hairy assholes!!

Posted by Anonymous | March 4, 2012 3:43 PM

He's committing the worst sin of all..... being boring.

Maybe next week SNL can just show footage of grass growing or paint drying?

Posted by Anonymous | March 4, 2012 3:53 PM

come on now haters, I'm not a "Jack White can do no wrong" train, especially after Dead Weather, but both of those songs were pretty freakin solid. Definitely intrigued...

Posted by Anonymous | March 4, 2012 3:54 PM

flawless as usual

Posted by Anonymous | March 4, 2012 4:03 PM

i saw jack and bjork at mamouns at 4am last night eating hummus

Posted by Anonymous | March 4, 2012 4:14 PM

Not able to watch the vid, but Azar > Meg. Sorry folks.

Posted by Anonymous | March 4, 2012 4:16 PM

um, a violin and a mandolin? All I hear is Jack's distortion and that ridiculous synth.

Whenever I hear a new Jack White song I just shrug and say "sounds familiar."

Posted by Anonymous | March 4, 2012 4:22 PM

Must be expensive to tar

Posted by Anonymous | March 4, 2012 4:25 PM

I've never been that crazy about Jack White, and his shtick is getting sillier and sillier, but shit, it's nice to hear actual rock'n'roll on Saturday Night Live. I can't remember the last time...

Posted by Anonymous | March 4, 2012 4:34 PM

Jack Crap.

Posted by Anonymous | March 4, 2012 4:35 PM

that was good. hard to say it wasn't and still make sense.

Posted by Anonymous | March 4, 2012 4:57 PM

jack white; ripping off the pixies for 15+ years.

Posted by Anonymous | March 4, 2012 8:22 PM

who are pixies?

Posted by Anonymous | March 4, 2012 8:24 PM

yea love that 2nd tune. and this is much better than the other side projects..especially dead weather, that band is just embarrassing

Posted by Anonymous | March 4, 2012 8:36 PM

Jack "why couldn't I have been born a southerner" White

Posted by Anonymous | March 4, 2012 9:18 PM

i'd let her traditional grip my stick anytime. Get it?

Posted by Anonymous | March 4, 2012 9:32 PM

Posted by Anonymous | March 4, 2012 10:12 PM

Posted by Anonymous | March 4, 2012 10:27 PM

Whack White

Posted by Anonymous | March 5, 2012 12:12 AM

Im undecided on Jack White. I'll admit some of those white stripes songs were good, and I blasted them on my stereo back in 2002 and shit, but now he is seemingly getting kinda weird in a micheal Jackson kinda way. And let it ne known I do not like micheal Jackson. I prefer credence Clearwater revival.

Jack White As Fuck

Posted by Anonymous | March 5, 2012 12:54 AM

2 solid songs. that dude loves what he does and he keeps pushing his thing.. can't hate on that

Posted by adam | March 5, 2012 1:14 AM

Somehow I think the one who is Patti Smith's daughter-n-law probably got the better deal out of the two.

Posted by Anonymous | March 5, 2012 12:20 PM

"2 solid songs. that dude loves what he does and he keeps pushing his thing.. can't hate on that"

did you mean that dude loves "himself?" that's pretty accurate, then.

Posted by Anonymous | March 5, 2012 5:01 PM

i'll say it again - hard to say this wasn't great and still make sense.

Posted by Anonymous | March 5, 2012 5:31 PM

It wasn't great. See, that made perfect sense.

Posted by Souq | March 12, 2012 4:04 AM

Playing Roseland, 5/21 and 5/22.

Posted by Anonymous | March 19, 2012 2:27 PM

Hard to believe that this went under the radar for so long (considering their name has been sprinkled all over this website), but if that's not Victoria Legrand from Beach House on the keyboard then it's her goddamn twin.
