Why did coachella change the time, I completely missed it and can't see their video on the page yet. What happened and how do I watch the video?

Posted by Anonymous | April 16, 2012 2:12 AM

May/June hopefully = a North American run

Posted by Anonymous | April 16, 2012 3:04 AM

nope 304am. the mars volta will be touring europe then!

Posted by Anonymous | April 16, 2012 8:43 AM

Hopefully no US tour. Man Cedric's voice is 100% SHOT.

Posted by Anonymous | April 16, 2012 8:52 AM

I wonder how many people flew out there to hear them play nine songs.

Posted by Anonymous | April 16, 2012 9:20 AM

What a bore fest. Omar stood in the same spot the whole time and looked like he wanted to be somewhere else.

Posted by JT | April 16, 2012 11:01 AM

Cedric doesn't sound great, but at least he's trying.

Omar just looks bitter & miserable to be there. He could at least pretend to be into the show and enjoy the payday he bragged about.

Refused >>> ATDI

I thought his voice sounded fine. However, it's weird that they would play less songs at Coachella than at their Texas club shows.

Posted by Anonymous | April 16, 2012 11:10 AM

Omar's mother had passed away a couple of weeks ago, might explain why he looked bummed.

11:10 I'm sure they were just time-limited since they weren't a headliner. I'd be happy seeing 9 songs from such a great band though.

Wow ! This is how an ATDI fan acts after 11 years?
What more did they have to do to get you excited.
The band sounds pretty good to me after 11 years. Give them time to jell again.
Cedric voice needs gigs to get back into form. And Omar was laughing during the show and look to have fun to me.
Remember these guy's where all Fucked up on drugs last time they played together. Also remember, they are 11 years older and have matured to some extent.
Great show boy's!! And thanks for the stream Cochella/Utube!, the quality was EPIC, watched it over my iPhone connected to my surround sound and Sony 51" TV. Fucking Sweet!!!

I went to the show in Austin and they picked up right where they left off. They sounded amazing! and cut Omar some slack...I'd like to see what you look like if you're mom passed away...unbelievable. You have no compassion

Posted by HEnna | April 16, 2012 12:47 PM

Hadn't heard about Omar's mother.
Sad news and very bad timing with pressure of these shows, could explain a lot.

I don't think it was such a terrible stretch at first to criticize his demeanor onstage, especially given his attitude about the reunion in the recent past, but yes, does deserve some slack.

hope the shows & excitement are a help for him.

Dont confuse "excitement" with "excrement"

I would really love to see them do a bigger tour as atdi and I think they'd sound better and better as they went butt that's not gonna happen. People have begged them to play together again since they broke up and they're so far from where they were when they made that last album 12 years ago. I hope they do get their big pay check and go back to their other projects cause they deserve that. Atdi doesn't exist anymore.

i think cedric's voice is better than it's ever been after years of singing in mars volta. i've seen atdi about 15 times back in the day, and thought this was great actually. and his energy is pretty close (though he's older, so not AS crazy) to before. sad about omar's mother dying week of the reunion and assume that is why he's so stiff. in the end, it should be about how well they play and NOT about how much they jump up and down. what a dumb reason to like or not like a show for a band this good.

Posted by Anonymous | April 16, 2012 1:57 PM

FYI-cedrics Twitter is fantastic

Posted by Anonymous | April 16, 2012 2:09 PM

FYI, they're not doing a big tour and they likely won't tour at all according to Cedric's twitter. He emphasized they'll be doing a very small amount of shows, and that's it. Hoping NYC gets lucky and gets one.

Posted by Anonymous | April 16, 2012 2:23 PM

@1:57 "in the end, it should be about how well they play and NOT about how much they jump up and down. "

Yes, it SHOULD be but this band never had songs. It was only about the show. ATDI were never remotely interesting musically and it was all about the spectacle of their performance. Kids who were 14 and hadn't seen a live punk show thought this was the be all end all, and apparently those kids now men still drink the kool-aid.

Posted by Anonymous | April 16, 2012 2:25 PM

definitely going to waste my $$ on the at the money grab waterfront show. they better play napolean solo.

Posted by Anonymous | April 16, 2012 2:38 PM

Fuck this. When is the Sparta reunion?

Posted by Anonymous | April 16, 2012 3:28 PM

Cedric's voice sounded pretty close to what it did 11 years ago....ATDI never sounded like their records, so I'm pretty sure all the people complaining jst never saw them live before...

Posted by Laurk | April 16, 2012 3:49 PM

@ 3:28pm "Fuck this. When is the Sparta reunion"

Guess you're not even a real Sparta fan or you would know that they've already done some reunion shows and are continuing to do more in the next few months. Another mindless commentor. Know your shit!

Posted by Anonymous | April 16, 2012 4:20 PM

KNOW THIS...THIS IS SPAARRRTTTTAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!

Posted by Anonymous | April 16, 2012 6:06 PM

The only reason it wasn't sounding great is because Cedric did high pitch vocals and not screams like he did in the past. THIS AINT THE MARS VOLTA NIGGA

Posted by Anonymous | April 16, 2012 11:00 PM

Cedric sounds like a sheep being fucked in the ass

Posted by Anonymous | April 17, 2012 9:28 AM

people are so fickle. "he's not screaming, blah, blah, blah". someone even said that Cedric's voice is shot...seriously? the guy gets better at singing literally every year. listen to some of the shit he does on the new Mars Volta record, and then complain he's not screaming and see if you can convince yourself you're not stupid as shit. people get so hung up on trivial bullshit.

Posted by Anonymous | April 17, 2012 12:37 PM

Whether his voice is shot or not, Cedric's vocals made me burst out laughing on several occasions. All throat, no gut. This isn't the mars volta bud. The softer passages sounded incredible though, and rhythmically they've never sounded tighter.

Posted by Anonymous | April 17, 2012 7:38 PM

Cedric can't handle ATDI's vocals anymore, just admit it. He's got enough range for Volta stuff but even that's fading.

They need to play Brooklyn or Manhattan one more time as Mars Volta so I can see em, and then that'll be good.
