Glassjaw

Almost ten years ago, Glassjaw released what was arguably their greatest triumph, the Worship and Tribute LP. The effort spawned videos for "Cosmpolitan Blood Loss" (with Vincent Gallo) and "Tip Your Bartender" and influenced a legion of fans with their take on screamo/post-hardcore.

Fast forward to 2012 and Glassjaw has gone in and out of hiatus, but will return to the stage for a show at Irving Plaza on July 8th to "worship & tribute" the record (which they'll be performing live) on the (exact date of) its 10th anniversary. Tickets go on sale Friday, April 20th at 10am.

Check out some Glassjaw videos below..

Terrible band with worse fans

$38 says D will be there

Posted by Anonymous | April 16, 2012 1:28 PM

these service fees for tickets are really getting out of hand...the service fee for this ticket is almost half of the ticket's base price...

Posted by Anonymous | April 16, 2012 1:33 PM

^ Yeah, as much as the Bowery Presents monopoly is frustrating, paying those 50% Live Nation fees for their venues is much worse.

Fuck this band and their shitty pants singer

Posted by Anonymous | April 16, 2012 1:39 PM

fuck yes.

Posted by Anonymous | April 16, 2012 2:09 PM

Dear Glassjaw,

BRING BACK TODD AND MAKE A NEW FUCKING ALBUM ALREADY.

Love, what's left of your fans

Posted by Anonymous | April 16, 2012 4:04 PM

they just put out 2 ep's. the last one is the best thing they've ever done.

Posted by Anonymous | April 16, 2012 4:08 PM

@4:08 - agreed. colouring book ep is so frikking good.

"Terrible band with worse fans."

True, but you could say the same with most bands listed here in the first place.

Posted by Anonymous | April 16, 2012 4:54 PM

^ Great, grandpa. So let's just shut down the blog then, is that your solution?

Posted by Anonymous | April 16, 2012 5:05 PM

Wonder if it will actually happen, they tend to cancel shows a lot.

Posted by Anonymous | April 16, 2012 5:56 PM

I remember when this band opened for the Deftones right after the White Pony Album. They blew the roof off the Roseland. I saw them two years at a festival they stole the day. This is a fun band people should make an effort to see. It's strange how the post punk late 90s bands ( refused at the drive hot water music and glass jaw) are being re-discovered.

Posted by Anonymous | April 16, 2012 7:24 PM

this is gonna be an awesome show. stay off the fucking page if you're that uninterested.

Posted by Anonymous | April 16, 2012 7:36 PM

1:28pm You lost that bet. Fuck this band. Fuck 1990s LIHC. All of it.

7:24pm It's a shame isn't it?

7:36pm What do you care what people think? People have a right to say this band is overrated crap as much as others have a right to say they're the best thing since sliced bread.

I have to laugh at all these reunions cuz it's just the bitches who never cared about hardcore the past 10-15 years clinging to their non-scene who were too cool for school (real hardcore bands back then.) Hardcore became wack in 1992 with very few silvers of hope 1996-2002.

Posted by D | April 17, 2012 12:35 AM

Hummus was better in 1992 also.
I feel there was a higher olive oil content which made the consistency a bit more pleasing.

everything you ever wanted to know about silence was a waaaaaayyy better album. and i'm serious!

Posted by Anonymous | April 17, 2012 2:19 AM

^agreed. still definitely going to see this, though!!

Posted by Anonymous | April 17, 2012 6:07 PM

Posted by Anonymous | April 20, 2012 10:10 AM

been staring at the pinwheel for 20 minutes

Posted by Anonymous | April 20, 2012 10:22 AM

I got through on the mobile version after 35 mins. Radiohead was easier.

Posted by Anonymous | April 20, 2012 10:36 AM

same with me.. took just about half an hour, but got through eventually. looks like it is sold out now though. cant freaking wait!

Posted by Anonymous | April 20, 2012 12:06 PM

ya first album is better ands yeah they suck without Todd, I saw them live a bunch of times as a four piece, its like watching a band with the left speaker blown out. Give up in glassjaw unless they bring back Todd weinstock.

Posted by david | April 20, 2012 3:22 PM

not true. i actually got to play a show with them last year in michigan and they killed it. their two new eps are the best things they've done imo.

I get a kick out you dudes who build up your "scene" and how great and real it was back in the day.You definately created your own "scene" which is no doubt commendable but my memory of your "scene" is a bunch of angry and awkward white trash kids who sucked at skateboardng punching and kicking each other all night in VFW halls. Nothing more. Long.Island.Herb.Core!!!

Posted by recently found out I'm actually NOT allergic to shellfish! | April 23, 2012 4:24 PM

ANY MUSIC WITH CORE IN IT BLOWS, cept maybe Crabcore

yes D, Hardcore has always sucked.

Posted by Anonymous | April 23, 2012 4:36 PM

Did anybody go to the show? Was it amazing?

Posted by Anonymous | July 8, 2012 9:11 PM

yeah i did,i decided to give them one more chance and the show sucked. So many people gave up and left, they had no opener and made us wait 2 hours to play, All the cute people hid on the balcony or vip. it was oversold and too crowded. When they came on they decided to turn down the a/c and the place became a sauna. horrible show n they sucked theres no dynamics wihtout todd, if there gonna be a 4 piece band don't bother seeing them. never again.
