How did you fare on Record Store Day 2012? What did you pick up? What did you have trouble finding? If you were in Austin, did you stop by Waterloo Records and meet Garbage? (Tim did.) If you were in NYC, did you stop by Other Music? If not, this is what it looked like...

really wanted the Zomby reissue but the Shabazz Palaces 12" is helping me forget about that.

"Fuck I didnt know four tet was playing....i wish i went."
DJing. BIG fucking difference.

Wow people who work at my coffee shop in bands spinning records. Pathetic
Posted by Anonymous | April 22, 2012 2:29 AM
Yeah I could never like any music made by someone that works at a coffee shop. Gross.

Two ipods plugged into aux cables isn't dj-ing... or, I guess it is, but it looks really lame. I have a suspicion that's all Daft Punk have inside the pyramid.

Lame year for RSD
Posted by Anonymous | April 22, 2012 9:40 AM
No Bowie, anywhere. Gotta get out earlier next year. Anyone have/heard Ryan Adams covering Bob Mould? Didn't see that either.
Posted by Anonymous | April 22, 2012 10:37 AM
Agree that it was a lame year for RSD. Other Music should be able to do better than this
Posted by Cory | April 22, 2012 10:38 AM
other music was annoyingly crowded, even when i got there in the afternoon. so many people were there just staring at someone DJing, or should i say pressing "next" on their ipod.
GET THE FUCK OUT OF THE WAY, I'M TRYING TO BUY SHIT.

Real DJ's spin vinyl.
Like, OBVIOUSLY.
Posted by Anonymous | April 22, 2012 12:32 PM
The irony of the iPod DJs is hilarious. Friggin' MP3 Day.
Posted by Anonymous | April 22, 2012 1:04 PM
except they're getting asked to DJ, off ipods or not, and getting paid for it, and you're not.
Posted by LB | April 22, 2012 2:37 PM
the point is it's record store day - a day specifically meant to celebrate the use of vinyl and impede the takeover of digital media - and we have djs playing off ipods instead of vinyl.
Posted by Anonymous | April 22, 2012 2:55 PM
MP3, vinyl, who cares? DJs are not musicians, end of story.
Posted by Anonymous | April 22, 2012 3:13 PM
RSD was a bust. Nothing but a bunch of vultures scooping up the vinyl to sell on eBay. Thanks for nothing, jerks!
Posted by Anonymous | April 22, 2012 4:00 PM
RSD=BS hipster day
Posted by Anonymous | April 22, 2012 4:02 PM
The last glimpses of a failing entity. Record Store Day is where they herd all of the few remaining audiophiles into one space and tell them to spend money.
Sure, you can brag about your rare EP to all of your friends, but at the end of the day, it just means you're a sucker because in the digital age there is no such thing as a rare EP.
You're better off downloading every single record you would've bought and spend that money on Bonnaroo or something.

wait on line for hours vs. pay 8 dollars extra on ebay. idk man

"RSD was a bust. Nothing but a bunch of vultures scooping up the vinyl to sell on eBay. Thanks for nothing, jerks!"
Are you surprised? It's been the same every year. RSD is a joke. What's the point of record store day if there are no new records to buy?
Posted by Anonymous | April 22, 2012 5:34 PM
I like RSD. Saw some cool bands and bought some cool stuff.
Posted by Anonymous | April 22, 2012 6:00 PM
RSD is a shame! It actual makes me angry! Why couldn't I find a copy of Pussy Galore's 7" anywhere, but there are a shitload of 'em on sale on eBay for like, 2 or more times the actual sale price!?! FUCK YOU RECORD INDUSTRY! GO DIE! I'LL STEAL MY MUSIC FROM NOW ON. I BELIEVE IN NOTHING! NOTHING. PUSSY. GA. LORE!
Posted by Anonymous | April 22, 2012 10:39 PM
^Well that would be because you are a FREAKING IDIOT. Maybe if you looked like everywhere else on the net except Ebay you would find a copy for the regular price and could order it. There is never anything sold on RSD that you can't find on the net from a store somewhere days after. Add to that if you just have some patience and wait a few weeks you can find it on Ebay for the same price it was in the store or less.
Learn how it works and stop being a sucker.
