Cedric Bixler-Zavala of At The Drive In @ RED 7 on 4/9
At The Drive In @ Red7 - 4/9/2012

As you know from a post with the setlist last night which was followed up this morning with a set of pictures on BV Austin, At The Drive-In played a show! As it says on BV Austin:

After an opening set by Zechs Marquise, At the Drive-In played their first show since 2001 (as it said on the show poster) at Red 7 in Austin last night (4/9). It was also the first in a series of pre-Coachella warm up shows that continue in Dallas (tonight) and then Marfa.

According to show promoter Transmission Entertainment, the surprise gig sold out in 11 minutes after being announced via Twitter the other day. In addition to all those packed inside, there were many listening from the alley outside. Though some complained that Omar Rodriguez Lopez seemed a bit out of it (update: his mother recently passed away), the band was generally high energy with Cedric hanging from the rafters of the newly refurbished club, and the crowd going insane.

Here's a second set of pictures. More below...

You heard it here first. Maxwell's. Todd O Phonic Todd just confirmed.

1042am. They're playing Fuji Rock Festival in Japan end of July. Then they're playing Lollapalooza beginning of August (line up coming out at midnight). There's a gap between Lolla and Reading/Leeds (end of August) so they'll be here in August:)

ps Wish it was at Maxwell's. More like new Waterfront location. Better yet let's do two nights at MHOW and Bowery! No barriers needed for ATDI shows:)

"The Mars Volta is terrible can we all agree?"

I do. Maybe if Cedric wasn't so absurdly pretentious, I might be able to give TMV a chance.

Posted by Anonymous | April 10, 2012 12:29 PM

old, fat. draws out bv commenters who drop faggot in comments. no thank you. waterfront show will be a massive clusterfuck of douchebags, fratboys, and cops. pass.

Posted by Anonymous | April 10, 2012 3:52 PM

Bravo ATDI for playing Red 7. Man, Emos blew it big time by closing down. Most def would have been the place for this show. The new EMOS from the outside looks like a clinical tylenol factory.

TO THE ASSHOLE WHO WROTE, "At least Cedric can fake it well. Fuck off Omar. Great photos." You are fucking scum and clearly you have no idea what its like to lose a parent. I wish nothing but the worst form of Karma for you. Worthless piece of shit!!!

Posted by HEnna | April 10, 2012 5:56 PM

Great conversation guys.

Posted by Anonymous | April 11, 2012 6:27 PM

Damn, you people are dicks. Omar's mom just died. Obviously, he's going to be a little down.

Also, Omar could play lying down and I'd be fine with it. Do y'all know how unlikely this reunion looked just a year ago? You whiney little fucks.

Would you people quit fighting over ATDI and TMV please? Everyone knows that Sparta is the best. Right? Alright just kidding go back to hating each other. You fucking assholes.

Posted by Anonymous | April 12, 2012 12:59 PM

You little at the drive in fanboys are lucky Omar even agreed to play after the passing of his mother. If you kept up with his interviews you'd clearly see that family is the purest form of inspiration for him. I would have cancelled the show, and the shows after that for at least a month. You're all ungrateful...be glad he even showed up. I don't much care what the other brothers looked like, obviously he was closest to his mother. Now I see why Cedric hates all of you so much

Posted by Anonymous | April 12, 2012 4:23 PM

what the fuck?who's got the setlist? you got to see omar play bass in another project? what's really going on here? ive been fixin to fight my way across your state line for this shit
