THERE'S POOP IN MAH PANTS

Posted by Anonymous | April 10, 2012 11:29 PM

Just got back from the show. I have to admit, I was not sure how they would sound at RCMH. Pulp is one of those bands that really steps up the energy at a larger venue. This was without a doubt, the best reunion concert. They rocked that place like Led Zeppelin at the garden! I forgot how intense they are live. Hadn't seen them since the hardcore tour. I'm still tingling...

Posted by Anonymous | April 10, 2012 11:31 PM

11:29 ftw

WHAT A CRAZY SHOW!$%^!

Posted by Anonymous | April 10, 2012 11:32 PM

That show went by super quick! Not because it was too short, but because Pulp kicked my ass every song without a break. Crazy energy from the audience.

Wow.

WoW!!!!!!!

Posted by A+ | April 10, 2012 11:35 PM

yeah, I was surprised they didn't stop for a break and just killed us. i didn't even stop to drink. that show FLOORED me. jaw dropping performance from the lads! exceeded all expectations!

Posted by Anonymous | April 10, 2012 11:38 PM

I came during Disco 2000. No, seriously. I came during Disco 2000.

Posted by Anonymous | April 10, 2012 11:41 PM

Pulp is a class act. They just fuckin tore my head off.

Posted by Anonymous | April 10, 2012 11:45 PM

1 WORD CAN ONLY DESCRIBE WHAT I JUST EXPERIENCED.

EUPHORIC.

Posted by Anonymous | April 10, 2012 11:48 PM

AMAZING

Posted by Anonymous | April 10, 2012 11:48 PM

That must have been a pretty sweet show. Not a meh or hummus joke in the bunch. BV bitches can actually agree to like something?

Posted by Anonymous | April 10, 2012 11:50 PM

TOUGH AS HELL.

you either get it or you dont.

Posted by Anonymous | April 10, 2012 11:52 PM

I'm not gay, but I would fuck the shit out of Jarvis Cocker for what he did to me tonight. HAHAAHAH

Posted by Hetero dude that just saw Pulp | April 10, 2012 11:54 PM

JC was born to ROCK. I wish Pulp would make a new album. This can't be it. His solo albums are not even close to Pulp. I completely forgot how this band rapes my brain! I just got raped! and I loved it!

Thank you for raping me! Thank You!

Posted by Anonymous | April 11, 2012 12:03 AM

Just got back...fun show...if you going tomorrow night or otherwise going to see them, enjoy. Hope Pulp come back to the State soon

Posted by Anonymous | April 11, 2012 12:06 AM

I was surprised no one showed for the Chromatics. It filled up right after they finished. Yes, Jarvus was madder than a cholo on easter!

Posted by Anonymous | April 11, 2012 12:10 AM

This show was spotless.

Except for the Chromatics. Felt like I was watching some chick practice her chords. Bunch of fucking talentless ponces supping from the fount of a million other cliche electronic 2-chord-build-up crud.

But Pulp. Jesus. Forget every show you saw in the past 14 years. Pulp will eat it, shit it out, smear it on a railroad track, watch it get run over for a day, and laugh their balls off. THIS was the show of the century and I am not even the biggest fan.

Posted by Anonymous | April 11, 2012 12:19 AM

FOR ONCE I WAS BLIND. NOW I CAN SEE!

Posted by Anonymous | April 11, 2012 12:20 AM

Plain and simple, Pulp was fucking amazing tonight!!!!!!!!

Posted by Anonymous | April 11, 2012 12:22 AM

DO YOU WANT TO SEE A DOLPHIN?

Posted by Anonymous | April 11, 2012 12:35 AM

Damn, that's a pretty Different Class-heavy set, no?

Posted by Anonymous | April 11, 2012 12:37 AM

my ass got rocked!

Posted by Anonymous | April 11, 2012 12:41 AM

^Yeah, 'cause Different Class is the fucking best. I'm not too cool to say it

Posted by Anonymous | April 11, 2012 12:43 AM

No Cocaine Socialism? Booo

Posted by Anonymous | April 11, 2012 12:44 AM

I was a little disappointed that there weren't more songs from We Love Life or Hardcore (no "Help The Aged?"), but that's still a tough complaint to make because they really killed it tonight. The sound was great, MASSIVE, and they were all in top form. The guitarist filling in for Russell Senior (I forget his name) had a broken hand and still played great all night without problems! My only other gripe was that I'd wished they'd resequenced some of the songs in the set; it was a little anti-climactic ending with "Party Hard" as the arrangement was a bit different from the album. It felt like if they'd ended the first set with "Sunrise" (which sounded great in there) and then ended the encores with "Common People," it'd have been really over the top. Still, that was one of the best concerts I've seen in a loooong time. There were also a crazy amount of extra elements that made it really wild-- Jarvis was throwing candy bars into the crowd, they had a laser light show, crazy smoke machines, video screens behind them projecting, big fuck-off parade drums, a dance troupe onstage, and even what looked like an examination camera with a lighted end that he used during "I Spy." They definitely used the big budget well.

Posted by Anonymous | April 11, 2012 12:46 AM

Holy Shit, I was in the pit with my gf and there was a nun and a priest next to us. The show was so sick that i fucked the shit out of the nun while sticking a finger in my asshole. My gf blew the priest and then spit it up at Jarvis. He then kissed her hand at the end of the show. Totally insane killer.

You get the point. Not a superfan like some of the youngin's above who probably never saw Pulp live before. Having seen em a few times back in the day, I thought the show was fun and great. Some of the songs were a little underwhelming and got lost in the cavernous hall. Other songs were spectacular. Disco 2000 in particular. The dance troupe looked ridiculous and out of place.

I mean i don't know what to say. If you think it is totally wild that the lead singer throws candy bars into the audience well then i can't even start to discuss this show logically. All in all a very good show. Worth the time for sure

Posted by Anonymous | April 11, 2012 12:56 AM

there better be PINK GLOVE tomorrow.

Posted by Anonymous | April 11, 2012 12:57 AM

Spotted in the pit and hall:

Mike Myers
Ronnie Wood
Mick Jagger
Bruce Springsteen and Patti Scialfa and 2 of their kids
The Dirty Beaches dude.

Posted by Anonymous | April 11, 2012 12:58 AM

Aging Gen X scenesters had a big night out! Now pay the babysitter and go to bed.

Posted by Anonymous | April 11, 2012 1:02 AM

Amazing setlist, even with not enough His n Hers (primarily Joyriders, Lipgloss, Acryllic Afternoons), I found that to be a rousing night that must be seen by all.

Posted by Anonymous | April 11, 2012 1:02 AM

Actually 1:02 I would agree with 12:56. More like really young ones who never saw the band before spouting off with the crazy hyperbole.

Posted by Anonymous | April 11, 2012 1:07 AM

who the hell are the dirty beaches?

Posted by Anonymous | April 11, 2012 1:10 AM

PINK GLOVE TOMORROW!

Posted by Anonymous | April 11, 2012 1:11 AM

As someone who saw them during the Hardcore tour, this was great. Not a life-changing experience, but the energy and the added stupidity of the candy/dancers/lasers added to the enjoyment. It seemed like they were very aware of how silly the hugeness was, yet still seemed very flattered to be there. I think the show was pretty wild considering the context; the energy was really high, and that's no easy feat in a venue like that for a lot of bands that get covered on this site.

Posted by Anonymous | April 11, 2012 1:14 AM

Should have ended the set with "party hard" and ended the encore with "common people".

Great show but once again NYers are the most boring people ever at concerts. Move your feet, clap your hands, do something! Not enough love shown back, not surprised.

Posted by D | April 11, 2012 1:24 AM

I will lose it if they play Monday Morning tomorrow night. Yes sirrrrr

Posted by Anonymous | April 11, 2012 1:29 AM

they better just repeat this set tomorrow!

Posted by Anonymous | April 11, 2012 2:24 AM

it was pretty fucking great but i too was sad at the lack of material from "this is hardcore". i especially missed "help the aged" and "the fear" but otherwise, incredible. was psyched to hear "live bed show". also, i felt like one of the few people that actually danced and bounced around to the music. what is with people and their non dancing at shows? same thing happened at mgmt.

Posted by Anonymous | April 11, 2012 3:40 AM

Spent $300 on pit tickets..the minute I saw Jarvis was still rocking the hipster beard, I walked the f out.

Posted by Anonymous | April 11, 2012 5:22 AM

Right now tickets are super cheap on Stubhub. Grab them while you can.

Posted by Anonymous | April 11, 2012 6:07 AM

Looks like they played from @ 9:10 to 11:15? How's the view from the first balcony level? Got Tim for tonight's show. Heading up from Philly.

Posted by Anonymous | April 11, 2012 6:29 AM

What's the parking situation like near RCMH? Is it possible to get a spot on the street or is it pretty much parking
Garage bound?

Posted by Anonymous | April 11, 2012 6:49 AM

Good for all you that went and had a good time. Retards need something fun to do before the zoo opens for the season.

Posted by Anonymous | April 11, 2012 7:51 AM

Pulp never made a good record.

Posted by Anonymous | April 11, 2012 8:50 AM

This is Hardcore sucked.

Posted by Anonymous | April 11, 2012 8:50 AM

Killer set list! wish I had gone

Posted by Anonymous | April 11, 2012 8:52 AM

Jarvis Cocker is king.

Posted by Anonymous | April 11, 2012 8:57 AM

Best show ever!

Posted by Anonymous | April 11, 2012 9:01 AM

I was there. It was decent. Not mind-blowing. I was in 1st mezz. Most of the crowd just sat down and tweeted and instagrammed all night long.

Posted by Anonymous | April 11, 2012 9:03 AM

ah, the glory of the 90s
(if you didn't just laugh a little, I feel sorry for you)

Posted by Anonymous | April 11, 2012 9:21 AM

I love when people say that New Yorkers are boring at concerts. Uh...ever been to Atlanta or Iowa City for shows? I have.

Posted by JT | April 11, 2012 9:46 AM

6:49 - RMCH is in the heart of midtown. You might get a spot on the street if you go to a block where there is no parking until 7pm; get there at 6:30 and sit in the car until 7. Otherwise, do a garage.

Posted by Anonymous | April 11, 2012 9:46 AM

RCMH, not RMCH

Posted by Anonymous | April 11, 2012 9:47 AM

9:46, there's a difference. People in Iowa City are probably polite. NY'ers are jaded and bored with everything.

Posted by Anonymous | April 11, 2012 9:48 AM

sounds like everyone saw a band live for the first time tonight. im glad you all enjoyed it.

Posted by Anonymous | April 11, 2012 9:50 AM

^ lol, yeah right?! like "i remember my first beer too"

Posted by Anonymous | April 11, 2012 10:10 AM

Is there anything more annoying than a crowd full of people playing on their smart phones or trying to video record a concert instead of just enjoying it in the then and there? Nobody wants to see your shitty video. Nobody wants an sms from you telling them you are at Pulp in the pit.

Nonetheless, Pulp were excellent. Great concert.

Posted by Anonymous | April 11, 2012 10:18 AM

Where was Richard Hawley?

Posted by Anonymous | April 11, 2012 10:21 AM

"I love when people say that New Yorkers are boring at concerts. Uh...ever been to Atlanta or Iowa City for shows? I have."

I don't think boring is the right word. I'd go with entitled holier-than-thou afraid to emote, could be doing something better attitude. You have a pulse and a sense to get excited when the time presents itself...MOVE...HAVE FUN! I know you might've spent 20 mins making sure the corner of your shirt is tucke dunder your belt ever so perfectly, but trust me....NOBODY is looking at you and you ARE NOT getting laid tonight!

(this was not geared toward you, 9:46, just a general statement) Have a good one!

Posted by Anonymous | April 11, 2012 10:36 AM

^tucked under

Posted by Anonymous | April 11, 2012 10:37 AM

I think generally speaking people aren't quite as crazy at shows as they were back in the day. Probably the negative influence of smart phones.

Posted by Anonymous | April 11, 2012 10:39 AM

just because you are emoting more than other people doesn't mean other people are not enjoying the show just as much or more than you.

Posted by Anonymous | April 11, 2012 11:05 AM

Wrong wrong wrong, you can only enjoy a show if you are unrhtymically dancing around and bumping into people.

Posted by Anonymous | April 11, 2012 11:30 AM

Pulp in OJ sucks

Posted by Anonymous | April 11, 2012 3:12 PM

I thought the sound was atrocious - a lot of the banter was unintelligible. Not sure if it was the same in other parts of the venue.

Posted by Anonymous | April 11, 2012 4:41 PM

I thought the sound was awesome - a lot of the banter was intellectual. Not sure if it was the same in other parts of the tour.

Posted by Anonymous | April 11, 2012 5:27 PM

I thought the sound was mediocre - a lot of the banter was pedestrian. Not sure if it was the same in other parts of your mother.

Posted by Anonymous | April 11, 2012 7:36 PM

Pulp is giving a reach around to your cousin with snaggle teeth

Posted by Anonymous | April 11, 2012 8:20 PM

I think generally speaking people aren't quite as crazy at shows as they were back in the day. Probably the negative influence of smart phones.

Posted by HTC | April 14, 2012 4:53 PM

Encore was weak -- Live Bed Show and PArty Hard... blahhhhhhhh. Where were A Little Soul, Help The Aged, Lipgloss, and PINK GLOVE? And nobody wanted/needed to hear the borign "Sunrise" or anything off that last album! Otherwise, great show!!!

Posted by Anonymous | April 15, 2012 9:20 PM

Just got back...fun show...if you going tomorrow night or otherwise going to see them, enjoy. Hope Pulp come back to the State soon
