The Great Old Ones - Al Azif album art

French black metal crew The Great Old Ones are preparing to unleash Al Azif (arabic for Necronimicon), the band's new LP on Antithetic Records. Like the title suggests, The Great Old Ones' influence from HP Lovecraft (uh, yeah) runs deep across this atmospheric black metal release, but within the stark and fantastical subject matter lies subtle melody and oodles of memorable riffs. Recorded by Cyrille Gachet (Year Of No Light) and mastered by Alan Douches (Tombs, Mastodon, The Dillinger Escape Plan, etc), you can stream all of Al Azif for the first time, along with a live video, below. Order your copy via the label.

It's so novel when people criticize metal bands on BV. The gay jokes are next, wait for it....
