Pelle from the Hives practices his high jump @ Coachella 2012 (more by David Andrako)
The Hives

After playing twice at Coachella, The Hives are stopping in NYC for a tiny show at The Studio at Webster Hall on Thursday (4/26) before heading back overseas. Tickets for the studio show sold out very quickly, but we're happy to say that we got our hands on a few more pairs, so we're giving away three more pairs of tickets in addition to the ten pairs we gave away to contest winners last week. Details on how to enter to win tickets are below.

If you weren't able to score tickets to the Studio show, you'll probably have an easier chance of grabbing some when The Hives return to the US for a string of East Coast dates in late June, including another stop in NYC at Terminal 5 on June 22nd. Tickets go on AMEX AND fan presale at noon on 4/25 (fan presale password = "lexhives") (sound familiar?) and regular sale on Friday (4/27) at noon.

In other news, The Hives appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live last night (4/24 at midnight), and you can check out the band performing their new songs "Go Right Ahead" and Wait A Minute" from their forthcoming Lex Hives below alongside all tour dates and contest details....

In other strange news, Bloc Party is adding a 3rd terminal 5 date?

Posted by Anonymous | April 24, 2012 5:58 PM

^^What is so strange about that 5:58? You don't know that there a lot of stupid folks out there with shitty and outdated taste in music. Have you read the comments on this blog before? The Bloc Party shows should just be held in Jersey cause most of the audience is coming from there.

I'm going to this show, It's gonna be the show of the millenium.!.

"The Bloc Party shows should just be held in Jersey cause most of the audience is coming from there."

I seriously don't understand why people make comments like this. There are 8 million people in this city. Are you so moronic to think that ALL OF THEM have updated, trendy taste in music like you? Is there some sort of new law that requires New Yorkers to not have Bloc Party, The Strokes, The Killers, etc. on their iPods? The fuck does NJ have to do with this?

Unless you moved here because you thought it was exclusively a city for trendy douchebags such as yourself. Sorry....there are normal people who live here too.

6:19 is probably from Jersey or Ohio.

was buying 6 tix for this a waste of money

The Hives are much better than the Strokes, yet for some reason the Strokes are more popular. Explain this to me.

Posted by Anonymous | April 25, 2012 12:18 PM

Does anyone else see the link for the presale?

Posted by Anonymous | April 25, 2012 12:18 PM

11:38 - Well put. I miss the days when bands actually had a loyal following, and when fans weren't flaky.

Posted by Anonymous | April 25, 2012 12:26 PM

...and it's absurd to me that people still latch onto the Strokes, given that they still have yet to put out an album nearly as good as their first (all albums thereafter have been mediocre at best).
The Hives have consistently put out good material, and are consistently a great live band.

Posted by Anonymous | April 25, 2012 12:29 PM

Got minez, see you bitches there

Posted by Anonymous | April 25, 2012 12:36 PM

11:38, these days listening to Block Party and buying tickets to see them at Terminal 5 takes you out of the normal person category.

Posted by Anonymous | April 25, 2012 1:00 PM

No one can explain why the Strokes are more popular than the Hives, despite the Hives being a much better band.

Posted by Anonymous | April 25, 2012 2:04 PM

12:29 - The Strokes second album was just as great as the first. THEN it went downhill.

But I agree, the Hives are and have always have been unbelievable.

Posted by Anonymous | April 25, 2012 4:18 PM

Is there an opener for the show at the studio tonight?

Posted by Anonymous | April 26, 2012 1:40 PM

The strokes are huge eaters of hummus. That gives them a stronger fanbase.

Posted by Anonymous | April 26, 2012 2:08 PM

"Go Right Ahead" shamelessly rips of "Don't Bring Me Down." They should be paying ELO publishing royalties.
