James Mercer @ Terminal 5 - 4/29/2012
The Shins

The Shins, after recently played Coachella, teamed with opener St. Lucia at Terminal 5 last night (4/29), the first of their three night, sold out residency at the venue which continues tonight with Chairlift (and then Real Estate). The set saw The Shins dipping into material new and old, and bringing out Dirty Projectors vocalists Haley Dekle and Amber Coffman to assist on a rendition of "Phantom Limb" (by The Shins, not Pig Destroyer). More pictures and the setlist from last night's show are below...

"What time did the The Shins go on last night?"

A second too late and a minute too early

Posted by Anonymous | April 30, 2012 4:58 PM

You mean "The James Mercer Band"

Posted by Anonymous | April 30, 2012 5:48 PM

the shins are for people who jo to garden state

Man that looks like a boring show. They at least had a pretty light show when I saw them 5 years ago when I was young and impressionable by pitchfork

Those people standing on blocks on the balcony....

Is this a thing at T5 now?
Admitting the sightlines are disastrous up there?
Or did they bring blocks from home?

New album is kind of a dud with the exception of like 2 tracks.

Posted by Anonymous | April 30, 2012 6:07 PM

Where's the rest of the band?

How embarrassing to be exposed as someone who paid $60 to stand behind a greasy, warm popcorn machine in order to see the putrid Shins.

Obviously you people lack a refined taste of music

Posted by Anonymous | May 1, 2012 9:09 AM

5:48 really, um, nailed it...

I bought my box to stand on from one of the guys selling them outside T5 for $10 (he wanted $20!). A bit of a hassle bringing it in the venue, but after a little inspection, they let me bring it in.

Next time I will BYOB (Bring My Own Box)

^ uh yeah.

those things have always been at T5. generally people sit on them, but i guess if you're smart, you get there early and stand on them.

Way to blow up the spot by the pretzel machine Winnie Cheung. *slow clap*

The Shins live show has been exactly the same for a decade.

I don't understand why anybody goes up to the balcony anyway. Regardless of when I get there, I always just shove my way onto the floor. No way I'll be one of those losers standing behind that stupid fucking pole on the floor or standing on a box way the fuck on the balcony.

Awesome! That's my video featured on the bottom. I've got all the video uploaded, minus Port of Morrow...I don't know...wasn't feeling that song.

The Shins: music for people who find Brian Adams and the Dave Matthews Band to be "too ethnic."

Posted by Anonymous | May 1, 2012 9:03 PM

^ wrong. Chutes Too Narrow is mad dope. It just seems to be their high point.

Posted by Anonymous | May 1, 2012 9:08 PM

^You're the exact kind of person I was referring to!
