Van Halen

Tickets for the recently announced Van Halen show at Izod Center on 7/13 with Ky-Mani Marley go on presale Friday (4/19) at noon with a presale code of "ACCESS".

In related news, Eddie Van Halen recently spoke to Esquire about many personal details of his life...

The funny thing is, about the whole alcoholism thing: It wasn't really the partying. It was like -- I don't mean to blame my dad [musician Jan Van Halen], but when I started playing in front of people, I'd get so damn nervous. I asked him, "Dad, how do you do it?" That's when he handed me the cigarette and the drink. And I go, Oh, this is good! It works! For so long, it really did work. And I certainly didn't do it to party. I would do blow and I would drink, and then I would go to my room and write music.
The story goes on to reveal that Eddie Van Halen, who famously had a piece of his tongue removed in 2000, is still sadly battling cancer. "Last fall, the cancer came back and they took another chunk of his tongue. Every few months, he opens his mouth and doctors poke at him." Stay well Eddie!

Guy is a guitar legend. So he liked to drink and do coke. Name one great musician that doesn't or didn't like to drink and do coke.

I sorta believe EVH on the "not for partying" bit, seeing as though DLR was more the party animal, and EVH seemed to just be the more introverted guy of the band.

this band SUCKS.

Does that count as "playing the 'cancer card'" to sell tix?

Posted by Anonymous | April 19, 2012 11:27 PM

^ no, but you clearly played the faggot card to get readers of your comment.

One day all you dirty indie fags are gonna cough up tickets to see some reunited aging indie band. You don't have to be a fan, but don't be ignorant of music history. Most of you have no knowledge of music prior to the year 2000. Which makes you morons. Not to mention, you're all fixated on what's "new", which means none of the bands you liked or currently like will have any longevity. Fucking hipsters.

^ hey, douche bag .... might want to actually read the comments next time before typing out a delusional sanctimonious rant. Here, let me condense it for you old man - many of these comments are positive. Fuck, with age is supposed to come wisdom. Guess you missed that day at dick school, huh?

A little shocked that his cancer is back and he on tour and making records and everything. Hope he fully beats the cancer this time.

Sniffed blow with Roth, great times.

The new song I heard by them "Tattoo" sucks ass.

I got the records. No need to pay a ton to see a band sound like a cover band of the band.

Tattoo is cheeseball who cares. New album is good. Eddie shreds, no two ways about it. Van Halen is an undeniable massive legend of a band. Cancer is a motherfucker. Get better Eddie
