is there anyone else out there who couldn't stand sublime??

Posted by Anonymous | April 30, 2012 2:09 PM

No at the drive-in?????

Posted by Anonymous | April 30, 2012 2:11 PM

sublime with rome is now just sublime's original bass player. even sublime's drummer has admitted these shows were just wrong.

Posted by Anonymous | April 30, 2012 2:14 PM

who on earth is their booker? that is an odd list of acts to say the least...

Posted by Anonymous | April 30, 2012 2:15 PM

not one vocally pro hummus band

Posted by Anonymous | April 30, 2012 2:16 PM

What started as an entirely free concert series (at McCarren Pool) turned into more and more "benefit" concerts, turned into kicking out Jelly the original promoters turned into today - a for profit venue (w/one free concert), using city land rent free.

Posted by Anonymous | April 30, 2012 2:16 PM

is that Neil deGrasse Tyson ?

Posted by Sean | April 30, 2012 2:17 PM

perfect fit, given who lives in the neighborhood these days. williamsburg = no go zone.

Posted by Anonymous | April 30, 2012 2:22 PM

2:16 is Right on Point!!!

Posted by Anonymous | April 30, 2012 2:22 PM

2:17 lol i was thinking the same thing

Posted by Anonymous | April 30, 2012 2:28 PM

Ill look into this place when they book...wait for it.....FRED ARMISEN!!

Posted by Anonymous | April 30, 2012 2:30 PM

why "lol" -- that is Neil deGrasse Tyson

Posted by Anonymous | April 30, 2012 2:30 PM

what you don't know is that jelly was really bad.

Posted by Anonymous | April 30, 2012 2:30 PM

Hey2:28: don't type 'LOL' ever againg you fucking halfwit teenager. And use some fucking punctuation, dickhead. Reading that shit makes literate people (not to be confused with 'ppl') want to kill themselves.

Posted by Anonymous | April 30, 2012 2:31 PM

"What started as an entirely free concert series (at McCarren Pool) turned into more and more "benefit" concerts, turned into kicking out Jelly the original promoters turned into today - a for profit venue (w/one free concert), using city land rent free."

I don't care. I'd rather pay $30 for a ticket and not have to stand in line for 4 hours hoping to get in.

Posted by Anonymous | April 30, 2012 2:36 PM

Evening with Cake should be cool.

Posted by Anonymous | April 30, 2012 2:40 PM

when did you ever stand in 4 hour lines wondering if you were gonna get in? i went to literally every free Jelly party, got there when doors opened, and walked in. maybe if you didn't show up seconds before the headliner you would've gotten in, but you hit the snooze button too many times or thought because you're so awesome you would just walk in.

Posted by Anonymous | April 30, 2012 2:41 PM

2:40 - it's way too soon to have an accurate view of the weather on an august evening.

Posted by Anonymous | April 30, 2012 2:42 PM

"maybe if you didn't show up seconds before the headliner you would've gotten in"

I rather pay $30 and not have to sit through the openers if I don't care for them. The other bad part about free shows is that they attract scenesters, people not there for the show.

Posted by Anonymous | April 30, 2012 2:51 PM

2:17 Yes. That was at Williamsburg Waterfront (Park) last year for a free They Might Be Giants Show hosted by the cast of Bob's Burgers and special guest Neil Degrasse Tyson. He was wasted and talking about science. It was the greatest night of my life.

Posted by Michele | April 30, 2012 2:57 PM

Would gladly pay $20 to see Neil deGrasse Tyson (but only if he cursed)

Posted by Sean | April 30, 2012 2:58 PM

What is the capacity of this place?

Posted by Anonymous | April 30, 2012 3:00 PM

@2:41 - August 30, 2009. Grizzly Bear played. The line was extremely long, and people waited for hours to get in.

Posted by Anonymous | April 30, 2012 3:06 PM

"It was the greatest night of my life.

Posted by Michele | April 30, 2012 2:57 PM"

Well Michele, you have had a really crap life then.

Oh and 2:36/2:51, you are an idiot.

Posted by Anonymous | April 30, 2012 3:08 PM

I'm gonna get so high for sublime can't wait to run thru the streets of Williamsburg stoned!

Posted by Anonymous | April 30, 2012 3:11 PM

Is oasis gonna have a food cart there this year?

Posted by Anonymous | April 30, 2012 3:11 PM

is anybody not full of it with jelly bullshit comments. Either you didnt live here at the time or you a fucking loser for ever thinking jelly was "really bad" - Jelly Intern

Posted by Anonymous | April 30, 2012 3:14 PM

is jeremy lin gonna be there?

Posted by Anonymous | April 30, 2012 3:14 PM

i know every year people say "this is the worst lineup ever", but this is seriously a new low.

Posted by Anonymous | April 30, 2012 3:19 PM

lol @ 2:31

Posted by Anonymous | April 30, 2012 3:20 PM

Eugeun Mirman is a full blown park slop fatass loser fag anyway, he will bring the food truck/eating crowd with him and OK GO can maybe re-enact a video on stage since that seems to be the only thing they have been good at. - Jelly Inern

Posted by Anonymous | April 30, 2012 3:21 PM

3:06 - yeah and I was at Grizzly Bear in '09 when doors opened, line was ridiculously long, yet i got in because i GOT THERE IN TIME.

you must feel really entitled to think you can show up late to something like a free Grizzly Bear show (who, at that time were at the peak of their popularity) and think you're going to get a king's welcome.

Posted by Anonymous | April 30, 2012 3:24 PM

At what moment do the people who shelled out $$ to yell and whoop at Refused last week start to get bummed out?

Posted by Anonymous | April 30, 2012 3:25 PM

dude this venue blows

Posted by bob blah blah | April 30, 2012 3:40 PM

Is it me, or do all open air event bookings this summer fucking blow?

I can't believe I am saying this but bring back that fuck Chris Goldstein (who ran Jelly) to book outdoor events.

Posted by Anonymous | April 30, 2012 3:42 PM

I went to refused and am glad I won't have to go to the paid, July shitshow at the wburg waterfront (which is not on the water).

Posted by Anonymous | April 30, 2012 3:42 PM

Who stole my Mac book?
-jelly intern.

Posted by Anonymous | April 30, 2012 3:51 PM

um, I went to Refused last week and going to go see them outside too. Paid face value for both, what is your point?

Posted by Anonymous | April 30, 2012 3:53 PM

I got there early @3:24, but the line was still really long. I'll be sure to get there when the doors open next time, though. Thanks for the tip.

Posted by Anonymous | April 30, 2012 3:55 PM

my point was more about the fact that they're now playing 600 shows. it makes it less special (maybe not?)

Posted by Anonymous | April 30, 2012 3:55 PM

It was not special to begin with fool.

Posted by Anonymous | April 30, 2012 3:57 PM

when is at the drive-in announced?

Posted by Anonymous | April 30, 2012 4:01 PM

I was actually thinking that the prospect park lineup so far is pretty awesome; Jimmy Cliff, Childish Gambino, Dirty Projectors, Hot Chip, Wilco x2, Sigur Ros and M. Ward. That's only what's been announced so far.

I can take or leave the wburg venue, not my fave location, or demographic.

Posted by Anonymous | April 30, 2012 4:07 PM

chris goldstein, stop write comments to/about
yourself.

Posted by bob blah blah | April 30, 2012 4:17 PM

jesus, all of these bands are super shittastic

this is what it comes down to? really?

btw, patton oswalt destroyed at the free show last year.

Posted by Anonymous | April 30, 2012 4:27 PM

Posted by anonymous | April 30, 2012 6:58 PM

MMJ's last Garden show was crap.

Posted by ME | April 30, 2012 8:23 PM

Sublime with Rome and Cypress Hill on the same bill. So many bros...

Posted by Anonymous | April 30, 2012 9:09 PM

I hope Cypress Hill plays their seminal classic, "Hits from the Bong"

What money is the city making from these concerts?

How about the so-called "promoters" book a fucking band FROM NYC on these NYC shows?

Cuz the world needs Off! in NYC twice inside of two months. Fuck Off! haha. So overrated. I get it, Keith Morris ex-blah blah is in the band, they're on Vice Records, they sound like straight outta '82 etc. Would it kill these "promoters" to book a NYC band or two to open the show? It'd actually benefit everyone: two NYC bands get exposure, people would get more for their buck and more time to get in for Off! and/or Refused since both would go on later.

Cypress Hill psssshhhhh go do ya annual overpriced Halloween Bash bullshit then go back to LA. Herbs.

3:11: What does Noel Gallagher have to do with a food cart in Brooklyn?

Posted by Anonymous | May 1, 2012 10:01 AM

The comedy lineup last year was awesome: Patton Oswalt, Jim Gaffigan, Eugene Mirman, Kristen Schaal, Neil deGrasse Tyson... but does nobody remember the crazy distracting rain that made it impossible to enjoy them?

Posted by Anonymous | May 1, 2012 12:48 PM

Yep. How could I forget it? I lost a pair of suedde loaffers to that rain.

Posted by Anonymous | May 1, 2012 9:46 PM

because this time it’s not that simple...
our choices aren’t as clear as the last elections ...
last time it was so obvious...
