Posted by Anonymous | May 8, 2012 10:28 AM

WTF T5 is $45 Bowery is $35...how does this make sense!

Posted by Anonymous | May 8, 2012 10:29 AM

Yay!

Posted by Anonymous | May 8, 2012 10:29 AM

will go in what 5 secs?

Posted by Anonymous | May 8, 2012 10:29 AM

You can tell how much BV cares because of the included password.

Posted by Anonymous | May 8, 2012 10:30 AM

dont think this will be 4x face if t5 isnt sold out

Posted by :( | May 8, 2012 10:31 AM

Dulli needs the money. Yawn.

Posted by Anonymous | May 8, 2012 10:40 AM

nobody gives a shit about afghan whigs. they weren't anyone's favorite in their day (the 90's) either. also rans, at best. they're an inessential, boring band.

this reunion is a good example of PR agency manufactured "excitement"

Posted by Anonymous | May 8, 2012 10:41 AM

Great I hope everyone thinks they are boring..easier for me to get tickets!

Posted by Anonymous | May 8, 2012 10:43 AM

Ditto; I hope everyone's as misinformed about the 90's as 10:41.

Posted by Anonymous | May 8, 2012 10:49 AM

the afghan whigs were probably my second favorite band next to pavement. i bought gentlemen in the used bin in 1993 after seeing them in spin magazine.

Posted by Anonymous | May 8, 2012 10:51 AM

paula on the larry sanders show loved em.

and i loved paula.

Posted by Anonymous | May 8, 2012 10:53 AM

no, you're wrong - they are terrible - you'd have to be a fool succumb to the "excitement" and buy tickets - this is nothing more than a cash grab - now excuse me while I go douche myself

Posted by Anonymous | May 8, 2012 10:57 AM

classic band! excited for this

Posted by Anonymous | May 8, 2012 11:04 AM

^dulli doesn't need the money he has been consistantly touring the last decade

Posted by Anonymous | May 8, 2012 11:05 AM

Really seems that the Afghan Whigs have a bigger following overseas. They were never such giant news here and I don't see the reason behind this hyped-up reunion. They were/are a hard-working band with a deep catalog of solid songs, but never one of my favorites. With that said, I'm looking forward to seeing them and hopefully everyone who wants a ticket is able to secure one.

Posted by Anonymous | May 8, 2012 11:07 AM

if youth lagoon broke up today and then reunited 13 years later... would people care?

scary thought.

Posted by Anonymous | May 8, 2012 11:09 AM

I've got a huge chubby for all these shows, but I always always always have bad luck with these BB special event shows. I have never been able to get tickets to these, but I hope that changes for this one.

Posted by Anonymous | May 8, 2012 11:20 AM

yeah because Youth Lagoon=Afghan Whigs...

Posted by Anonymous | May 8, 2012 11:20 AM

^^ Wait, are Youth Lagoon still relevant today? Thought they faded away last month. Drats!

Posted by Anonymous | May 8, 2012 11:20 AM

Youth Lagoon = the dog's bollocks

he should do an "ironic" cover of this classic....

Posted by Anonymous | May 8, 2012 11:21 AM

Mets : Yankees :: Afghan Whigs : Youth Lagoon

Posted by Anonymous | May 8, 2012 11:25 AM

MCA still hates the Yankees, and Dulli loves The Beasties

ergo, AW >>>>> YL

Posted by Anonymous | May 8, 2012 11:31 AM

Anyone who says that the Whigs are boring hasn't seen them live.

Posted by Anonymous | May 8, 2012 11:51 AM

I didn't give a crap about them, until my friend dragged me to see them in 1998, at Bowery Ballroom. Absolutely one of the best live performances I've seen, and I've been going to shows since '87.

Posted by Anonymous | May 8, 2012 11:53 AM

^^ Did you see Peter Frampton's tour in 1987? I hear it was the low point of his career.

Posted by Anonymous | May 8, 2012 11:55 AM

afghan whigs are a fuckin classic band that put on an amazing show....F THE HATERS!!!!

Posted by Anonymous | May 8, 2012 1:14 PM

I'm with you 10:43

Posted by Anonymous | May 8, 2012 1:22 PM

I don't know about all of this, but I do know that Thom Yorke is a total tool. I do know that.

Posted by Anonymous | May 8, 2012 1:27 PM

This will not be 4x face. 2x face, yes. But not 4x face.

Posted by Anonymous | May 8, 2012 1:30 PM

nice try 11:55---Frampton was playing on Bowie's Glass Spider tour in '87.

And for all the idiots declaring the Whigs a non issue. Is there a 90s record that holds up better than Gentlemen? A classic if there ever was one.

Posted by Anonymous | May 8, 2012 1:45 PM

^Yes, Black Love (my personal favorite).

Posted by Anonymous | May 8, 2012 1:47 PM

total irrelevance 6 months ago before some label / PR agency / ATP decided to manufacture interest in a reunion, presumably because ATP likes the band personally.

reality it that it isn't going to stick. almost nobody actually loves this band, and they are lackluster in real life.

Posted by Anonymous | May 8, 2012 2:22 PM

Joseph Arthur, ever the in-NYC journeyman

Posted by Anonymous | May 8, 2012 2:41 PM

1:47 - I agree as well. I think that Black Love is their perfect album.

Posted by Anonymous | May 8, 2012 2:48 PM

Who cares about "relevance?" You like a band or you don't no need to be all weird and slimy about it. "Relevance." It's fucking music.

That said I downloaded a few albums after the ATP NJ announcement and thought they sounded like Soul Asylum. That's really not a compliment to me. They sound like nineties, generic, major label processed rock.

I remain on the fence about ATP but it's at least encouraging that people here think they are great live.

Posted by Anonymous | May 8, 2012 2:57 PM

Why argue with an obvious troll? If someone is all like "hey I don't get these guys, but maybe you all fans can help me understand them" then I would be 100% in having a spirited dialogue about what I like about them. But if some douche comes in, swinging his little dick, spouting off about how they are irrelevant or so 90s or whatever, then I have no time to argue with him/her/it - they are looking for a fight, and they like to swing their little dick instead of actually using it. So, I implore you sound minded - DON'T FEED THE TROLLS AND THEY WILL GO AWAY.

Posted by Anonymous | May 8, 2012 3:05 PM

In my opinion, they are 10x better live than they are on record. Fantastic live band, and Dulli is a charismatic and entertaining frontman. On record.. meh.

Posted by Anonymous | May 8, 2012 3:20 PM

relevance doesn't matter.... because everybody can waltz right in and get a gig playing terminal 5 or onto a slot on Fallon just for asking. THE MUSIC INDUSTRY IS FAIR THAT WAY.

clearly, there is no point to ever talking about whether any specific band deserves attention, because attention is divvied out so efficiently and merit-based!

Posted by Anonymous | May 8, 2012 3:47 PM

afghan whigs are cut out bin material and always have been

Posted by Anonymous | May 8, 2012 3:52 PM

^
That's one fucking expensive cut out bin, genius.

Posted by Anonymous | May 8, 2012 6:41 PM

afghan whigs were one of those 90's bands who people paid attention to when a record would come out, just because they were a band from the supposedly "indie" side of British rock that had gotten signed to a major.

they were never anything anyone got excited about. their label/mgmt simply had the resources and connections to get them onto 120 Minutes and onto late night shows, and reviewed in Rolling Stone.

how odd it is to see them back, 15 years later, and still feigning popularity in the same illegitimate way, cruising on PR chatter fumes.

oh to always be an overfunded PR assignment!

Posted by Anonymous | May 8, 2012 8:11 PM

^^what the fuck are you talking about? i listened to the albums and liked them and went to go see them live back then like i will now. like tons of others did and will. how hard is that to understand u fat bald fuck!!

Posted by Anonymous | May 8, 2012 8:38 PM

Who?

Posted by Anonymous | May 8, 2012 9:15 PM

who gives a fuck abut this band

Posted by Anonymous | May 8, 2012 10:27 PM

I LOVE THE AFGHAN WHIGS AND IF YOU DON'T YOU CAN SUCK MY MOTHERFUCKING DICK

Posted by Goofi | May 8, 2012 11:21 PM

Actually the Whigs were reknowned back in the day for their epic 3 hr concerts, which always featured some cool covers as well as their own fab material.

Somebody who Dulli pissed off has an obvious axe to grind here, but FUCK THAT.

The Whigs are one of the very best outfits of the 1990s, a time that, unlike the present, had a surfeit of excellent rock bands.

Posted by Goofi | May 9, 2012 12:48 AM

a lot of guys insulting Afghan Wings here probably never listened to their songs

Posted by Anonymous | May 9, 2012 7:18 AM

"indie side of British rock that had gotten signed to a major"

You do realize that they are not British, that they are from Cincinnati right? OK, so what the fuck are you talking about then?

Posted by Anonymous | May 9, 2012 7:44 AM

Afghan Whigs > Radiohead
All day, every day

Posted by Anonymous | May 9, 2012 7:45 AM

7:18 this is true with most arguments on any band on this board.

Posted by Anonymous | May 9, 2012 7:52 AM

"Somebody who Dulli pissed off"

That's truly funny. If you knew Dulli, you'd know that the smaller group is "somebody who Dulli *didn't* pissed off"

Posted by Anonymous | May 9, 2012 8:05 AM

7:45 Whigs are great but Radiohead is better on any day that ends in a Y!

Posted by Anonymous | May 9, 2012 8:19 AM

8:19 - Radiohead is and has been for some time: bloated; full of themselves; uninspired; tired; complacent; boring. And, Thom Yorke is a tool. Game, set, match = Afghan Whigs.

Bet you would have preferred disco over punk too, were you even around then.

Posted by Anonymous | May 9, 2012 8:25 AM

^To the untrained ear. I will be at both the Whigs and Radiohead soon. Have you heard Radioheads new songs from the tour? Have you listened to King of Limbs? If King of Limbs is bloated then I give up.

Posted by Anonymous | May 9, 2012 8:42 AM

Whigs tickets were easy!

Posted by Anonymous | May 9, 2012 10:06 AM

Whigs tickets were easy!

Posted by Anonymous | May 9, 2012 10:08 AM

Got 2 using that fan club password. Thanks BV. This show and venue will be much better than T5. And ten bucks cheaper!

Posted by Anonymous | May 9, 2012 10:10 AM

scored 2 NO PROBLEMO

Posted by Anonymous | May 9, 2012 10:12 AM

No more presale available.

Posted by Anonymous | May 9, 2012 10:12 AM

was it will call only?

Posted by Anonymous | May 9, 2012 10:17 AM

@ 10:17 - no it was available as "ticketfast"

Posted by Anonymous | May 9, 2012 10:21 AM

^The option to have the ticket shipped was available too..

Posted by Anonymous | May 9, 2012 10:23 AM

they should have made it will call!

Posted by Anonymous | May 9, 2012 10:26 AM

no, hard tickets to be mailed.

Posted by Anonymous | May 9, 2012 10:26 AM

Mine is coming regular standard mail...

Posted by Anonymous | May 9, 2012 10:28 AM

^I was surprised they offered that option being the show is 14 days away!

Posted by Anonymous | May 9, 2012 10:30 AM

8:42 - I think that KOL is OK, but maybe as a set not "bloated" in a concrete sense (since it's only what 30 min long?) but in a musical sense as a whole it sounds to me like an afterthought, or a bonus disc from a Deluxe Edition of the real album. Believe me, I do love Radiohead - up to early mid 2000s - but now they just seem so enamored with themselves. It reminds me of how REM started to suck about a decade before they realized that they weren't the shizzle any more.

By comparison, Afghan Whigs are more like your asshole cousin that gets into fistfights weekly but is really fun at all family gatherings. Much more real, somehow, at least to me.

Posted by Anonymous | May 9, 2012 10:33 AM

^Yeah Whigs are def more fun I will give you that.I disagre on the REM front..when people weren't paying attention they let loose but that is another topic for another time. I just scored a ticket for the Whigs Bowery show! Can't wait

Posted by Anonymous | May 9, 2012 10:36 AM

Fair enough 10:36, we can disagree or one of us can change their opinion. Both of us like the Whigs, that's what's important, and I'll be there as well so whahoo!

Posted by Anonymous | May 9, 2012 10:43 AM

What is with TicketBastard? I was trying at 10:02am and it said nothing available, yet at 10:30 someone said they got tickets.

Posted by Anonymous | May 9, 2012 10:58 AM

I got 2 extra who wants em?

Posted by Anonymous | May 9, 2012 10:59 AM

^who said they got tickets at 10:30?

Posted by Anonymous | May 9, 2012 10:59 AM

Already 16 tickets up on ebay...cheapest $122 a ticket...pfft

Posted by Anonymous | May 9, 2012 11:03 AM

^I mean 8 tickets

Posted by Anonymous | May 9, 2012 11:05 AM

Point of reference - eBay sellers can cancel the auction at any time, or even come back after a completed auction and say that the item is no longer available. (they may not have the actual tickets now). And, the price is not a market price, it is completely a blue sky scalper designated price, and like with Keynesian economics it most always fails when confronted by actual market forces.

Posted by Anonymous | May 9, 2012 11:09 AM

10:59: 10:36 did.

Posted by Anonymous | May 9, 2012 11:10 AM

11:09 yeah but if an ebay seller pulls those stunts oftent after a sale is completed they will get ebay strikes...

Posted by Anonymous | May 9, 2012 11:14 AM

11:10 I was 10:36...I scored the ticket at 10am...Just scored wasn't meant to be taken literally..Just scored as in this morning..

Posted by Anonymous | May 9, 2012 11:15 AM

NOOO NOT EBAY STRIKES!!!!

Posted by Anonymous | May 9, 2012 11:16 AM

11:15: Thanks.

Posted by Anonymous | May 9, 2012 11:18 AM

ebay strikes=block account harder to sell and would have to start over...buyers are leary of newer, low reviewed members.

Posted by Anonymous | May 9, 2012 11:35 AM

John Kay had it right

"Well, now if I were the president of this land
You know, I'd declare total war on the scalper man
I'd cut him if he stands, and I'd shoot him if he'd run
Yes I'd kill him with my Bible and my razor and my gun"

Posted by Anonymous | May 9, 2012 11:45 AM

Afghan Whigs are like Soccer, it's not for everyone, but those who dig it, DIG IT!

Posted by Anonymous | May 9, 2012 12:48 PM

^and have a ball, and probably score alot! At least that was my goal!

Posted by Anonymous | May 9, 2012 1:11 PM

My & Dulli gonna get a couple red cards that night boy. Gonna be some pissed off fuckers leaving Bowery.

Posted by Anonymous | May 9, 2012 2:13 PM

lowest ticket is 170 on stubhub right now...jackpot muddafukkass!!!

Posted by Anonymous | May 11, 2012 4:22 PM

GET ON MY LEVEL

Posted by Anonymous | May 11, 2012 4:23 PM

median waist size: 44
deodorant: optional
beer: a must, but only after numerous shots
game of thrones-esque pillaging of the women of a village: if only we could but all 5 of em left before the 4th song, but we'll just stand around and fart and drink and jerk off to dulli".

fucking horrible.

Posted by Anonymous | May 24, 2012 1:13 AM

TAKE A FUCKING SHOWER, SLOBS. HOLY FUCK.
