Beach House

Just a reminder that, after a quickly-sold-out AmEx presale yesterday, tickets go on sale at noon today (5/4) to see Beach House at Bowery Ballroom on May 15. It's the same day as the Baltimore duo's fourth album, Bloom, is released via Sub Pop. Their East Coast tour begins tonight in Charlottesville, VA.

Speaking of Charm City, Lower Dens play Bowery Ballroom on July 19 and those tickets also go on sale at noon. Lower Dens, play tonight in Washington, DC, released their second album, Nootropics, this week.

Beach House should be ashamed for charging more than $25 for this tour - you could see the far superior Spiritualized for cheaper.

Buying 4, selling 4X face.

Posted by Anonymous | May 4, 2012 11:32 AM

Yea $25, for a band with 4 albums towards the peak of their prowess. Alert the authorities.

Posted by CJ | May 4, 2012 11:33 AM

$35 - for a two piece band way past the peak of their "prowess" touring behind an underwhelming record

Posted by Anonymous | May 4, 2012 11:36 AM

Well the tickets come to US $34.75, not really too bad considering the inflated hype around the new album. I guess I would pay $34.75 for Beach House, but definitely not more than $40.00

Posted by Anonymous | May 4, 2012 11:37 AM

4x face boyz in the building!

Posted by Anonymous | May 4, 2012 11:42 AM

I love how the front of the line at Mercury Lounge is all scalpers.

Posted by Anonymous | May 4, 2012 11:44 AM

lol i'd pay $90 for beach house seeing as the tickets are worth $100 on the free market. learn how the world works dummies

Posted by Anonymous | May 4, 2012 11:44 AM

i paid $12 to see them at mercury lounge five years ago. pass.

Posted by Anonymous | May 4, 2012 11:45 AM

james murphball is behind this

Posted by Anonymous | May 4, 2012 11:46 AM

LOL @ 11:45 - yeah, they are the same band with the same setlist as 5 years ago. Bet you would have passed on Radiohead in 2000 having seen them on The Bends tour, huh?

Posted by Anonymous | May 4, 2012 11:53 AM

Comparing Beach House to Radiohead lol...oh you hipsters!

Posted by Anonymous | May 4, 2012 11:54 AM

11:53 - yep!

Posted by Anonymous | May 4, 2012 11:54 AM

Posted by Anonymous | May 4, 2012 12:02 PM

Posted by Anonymous | May 4, 2012 12:02 PM

Maybe there will be tickets at the door

Posted by Anonymous | May 4, 2012 12:03 PM

seriously fucked up. sold out before it was even on sale?

Posted by Anonymous | May 4, 2012 12:03 PM

Two presales + tickets held back for band/promotion = what else is there left to sell.

Posted by Anonymous | May 4, 2012 12:04 PM

Got two no problem from Merc Lounge. All the scalpers in line wanted Wilco tix, which were not being sold.

Posted by Anonymous | May 4, 2012 12:04 PM

WTF sold out at noon?

Posted by Anonymous | May 4, 2012 12:04 PM

Posted by Anonymous | May 4, 2012 12:11 PM

WTF yo.

Posted by Anonymous | May 4, 2012 12:11 PM

"Got two no problem from Merc Lounge. All the scalpers in line wanted Wilco tix, which were not being sold."

Haha, that is absolutely hilarious. Love seeing those dudes with two teeth in line at Merc Lounge. Love also when they get totally denied.

Posted by Anonymous | May 4, 2012 12:12 PM

I find this dubious. I wasn't there so it may be true but I am very skeptical. Ticket scalpers are not lining up for Wilco doing 2 shows at Prospect Park. The Central Park shows were being reverse-scalped and you can pull up any number of tix for either night on Ticketmaster at 12:15.

I wasn't there but they may have only been selling tickets online (not at the box office)?

Posted by Anonymous | May 4, 2012 12:18 PM

what is reverse scalped?

Posted by Anonymous | May 4, 2012 12:20 PM

$35 are you fucking kidding me

Posted by Anonymous | May 4, 2012 12:21 PM

BV - should have titled this post - Just in case any scalpers didn't calendar this...Beach House at the Bowery.

Thx for keeping fans at the back of the line... again.

Posted by Anonymous | May 4, 2012 12:21 PM

4x face boyz stand up! Hipster marks fall back.

Posted by Anonymous | May 4, 2012 12:23 PM

@12:21 - slow clap

Posted by Anonymous | May 4, 2012 12:24 PM

The Beach House Facebook page announced that there would be tickets available at box offices. I'm assuming Mercury Lounge got a guaranteed allotment that wasn't available online.

Posted by Anonymous | May 4, 2012 12:27 PM

1221 pretty sure the real fans got hooked up in the fan presale run by beach house. s'okay bra.

Posted by Anonymous | May 4, 2012 12:36 PM

Scalping's over. It's all about reverse-scalping now!

Posted by Anonymous | May 4, 2012 12:59 PM

RIP ADAM YAUCH!!!

Posted by Anonymous | May 4, 2012 1:02 PM

@ 12:20 - reverse scalped = tickets selling on the secondary market for less than face value of ticket

Posted by Derek Jeter | May 4, 2012 1:31 PM

131 actually that's not reverse scalping. reverse scalping is when you sell a ticket at an inflated price even though you don't have the ticket, since you anticipate that the value will go down and you'll be able to pick up the tix at a lower price through scalpers closer to the show date. then when the prices go down, you buy the ticket for the lower price and send it to whoever you sold it to for the higher price.

what you are describing is just people being idiots.

Posted by Anonymous | May 4, 2012 1:56 PM

1:56, isn't that just speculation?

Posted by Anonymous | May 4, 2012 2:01 PM

Like a short sale in stocks, no?

Posted by Anonymous | May 4, 2012 2:03 PM

Yeah exactly, but really a naked short sell.

Posted by Anonymous | May 4, 2012 2:08 PM

201 when you know a lot about music, you know what is/isn't speculation. i.e. you know when stubhub prices are grossly inflated (because the artist isn't worth that much money) so you can predict with ample accuracy that prices will drop sufficiently closer to the show. like when the weeknd was selling tickets for $250, gimme a break.

yes, it's like a short sale on stocks.

Posted by Anonymous | May 4, 2012 2:30 PM

half of stubhub is dudes selling tix they dont even have yet

Posted by Anonymous | May 4, 2012 2:54 PM

You people realize you're arguing about Beach House, right? Fucking Beach House? The band that you could have easily gotten tix to see at Webster Hall a year or 2 ago?

Band is fucking boring. You are all out of your minds.

Posted by Anonymous | May 4, 2012 3:45 PM

How the hell can one person sell 11 tickets on stubhub when the limit is 2? How does that work?

Posted by Fuck | May 4, 2012 4:13 PM

it's hilarious that the band in this thread is beach house. you guys are idiots.

Posted by Anonymous | May 4, 2012 4:29 PM

@413 buy them all and find out

Posted by Anonymous | May 4, 2012 4:30 PM

the new beach house album is pretty good.

Posted by Anonymous | May 4, 2012 4:31 PM

yiiiiiiiiieaaah got 2

Posted by Anonymous | May 4, 2012 7:12 PM

a liked the beach house album too

Posted by Anonymous | May 7, 2012 3:51 AM

Memory House is way better. And cheaper.

Posted by Anonymous | May 7, 2012 3:03 PM

What a deal on Craigslist - http://newyork.craigslist.org/mnh/tix/3002765209.html

"Hello,

I'm looking to trade a pair of hard tickets (not printouts) to the sold out Beach House SummerStage show on 7/23 for a pair of hard tickets to their Bowery Ballroom show on 5/15.

Thanks!"

Congratulations for posting such a useful weblog. Your blog isn’t only informative but also very artistic too. There normally are very couple of individuals who can write not so simple articles that creatively. Keep up the great work !!
