Beach House

Baltimore dream pop duo Beach House will play Bowery Ballroom on May 15 -- the same day they release their fourth album, Bloom. $30 tickets go on sale Friday, May 4 at noon (with an AmEx presale happening 24 hours earlier). The Bowery date, which Zomes is opening, will be the the last of a short East Coast tour (all dates are at the bottom of this post). Beach House's next NYC show will be their already sold-out, and much larger, Summerstage performance on July 23.

For the record nerds out there, Sub Pop is releasing a "Loser Edition" of Bloom on 2xLP white vinyl. If you pre-order from Sub Pop, you might just get one of 300 glow-in-the-dark vinyl copies of the record which will be sent out at random. If you haven't heard anything from the album yet, you can stream or download opening cut "Myth" (which sounds a bit like "Eyes without a Face" to these ears) below, and stream Best New Track "Lazuli." Check below for those, along with all announced Beach House tour dates (including a just-announced summer run with Wild Nothing).

Friday at noon is gonna get CRAZY.

Posted by Anonymous | May 2, 2012 3:48 PM

Flash forward to 12:01pm Friday afternoon. Cue conspiracy theories and misinformation.

Posted by Anonymous | May 2, 2012 3:50 PM

Meh. We can start now. Realistically, 100 tickets will be held back for VIP, record execs and good ol' blog reviewers. So, basically you have 450 tickets being fought over online...and I think the number will be even lower.

Countdown to BV giving away 10 tickets over the course of 5 days?

Posted by Anonymous | May 3, 2012 10:09 AM

Yay thanks BV
mentioned on their FB page and main news site that they were going to do presale for fans @ 10 today

They also mention more Summerstage tickets but when you click on that link on their site it shows a blank page, those must be officially gone...

very excited this show is gonna be perfect at bowery

Posted by Anonymous | May 3, 2012 10:13 AM

Got two, hopefully there are print out tickets so I can scalp the hell out of them tomorrow.

Posted by Anonymous | May 3, 2012 11:17 AM

what was the ticket limit?

and presale was will-call only, derr

Posted by Anonymous | May 3, 2012 11:35 AM

The limit was a gazillion tickets

Posted by Anonymous | May 3, 2012 11:40 AM

2 ticket limit
Will call only for fans
Hence fan presale

Posted by Anonymous | May 3, 2012 11:42 AM

with this non-transferrable will-call only shit, they should honestly refund your tix if you can't make it. is it even legal to not do that?

Posted by Anonymous | May 3, 2012 11:46 AM

11:46, so how's the scalping business going for you

Posted by Anonymous | May 3, 2012 11:50 AM

LOL 11:46, take a beating hahahaha

Posted by Anonymous | May 3, 2012 11:54 AM

So glad I got tix during the fan presale.

Posted by Anonymous | May 3, 2012 12:01 PM

What a fag 1146
This was a fan presale people who want to go who aren't trying to sell who aren't changing their plans
They don't care about refunds because they are going

Posted by Anonymous | May 3, 2012 12:02 PM

so the amex presale sold out in < 10 seconds?

Posted by Anonymous | May 3, 2012 12:04 PM

wtf...presales sold out???

Posted by Anonymous | May 3, 2012 12:04 PM

I am 1146, i didn't buy tickets in the presale, i was just saying. fuckin relax.

Posted by Anonymous | May 3, 2012 12:06 PM

I got 2 tix. ID number suggests I was the 8th order.

Posted by Anonymous | May 3, 2012 12:06 PM

Cool story, 12:06.

Posted by Anonymous | May 3, 2012 12:07 PM

1202 yea, because you've never had something come up that interferes with an event you wanna go to. are you fucking serious?

Posted by Anonymous | May 3, 2012 12:07 PM

some of y'all be seein' so myopic it's scurry. @1146 is totally right. sometimes plans interfere - it's called having a life outside of brooklyn concerts.

Posted by Anonymous | May 3, 2012 12:15 PM

Got 2 in the AMEX. Not going to show. Will be making a nice pack of loot. Check Craigslist a little later friends who got shut out. Price will go up tomorrow when regular sale sells out in 2 seconds

Posted by Anonymous | May 3, 2012 12:16 PM

If you want to have a physical ticket "just in case," then buy a god damn regular ticket during the god damn regular sale and avoid the stupid bullshit fan pre-sales.

Posted by Anonymous | May 3, 2012 12:17 PM

1217 does not address the issue at hand in the slightest.

Posted by Anonymous | May 3, 2012 12:18 PM

@1218 makes sense. here is a hypothetical situation, in case you can't grasp the concept:

a die-hard beach house fan buys 2 tickets to the bowery ballroom show, spending her last cents on the tickets. a week later, her grandmother dies, forcing her to attend a funeral in the midwest on the same evening as the concert. there is no way she can attend. she would love to have that $75 back because she's a poor college student, but the will-call only policy means she is just stuck with no money and unusable tickets. don't you think in this situation, the ticketholder should be granted a refund, and the tickets should be resold? she never intended to profit off the tickets, and is clearly not profiting off of them by being issued a refund. it's just a matter of straightforward business.

Posted by Anonymous | May 3, 2012 12:20 PM

For shows that are sold out, I wish they would allow an option where people could release their tickets back into the system on the day of show, get refunded, and that would allow for others to purchase tickets. I know, I know, WAY too logical.

Posted by Anonymous | May 3, 2012 1:10 PM

I am 12:16 and that is my ad 1:30. I told you I was doing it. 200 is cheap right now. I am getting offers actually for more than that. Price goes up tomorrow when regular sale sells out in seconds. Cmon Beach House fans. You know you have to see this show. You got to pay.

Posted by Anonymous | May 3, 2012 1:33 PM

^shore they do? I think once the initial "wave" passes prices will drop. Then people will tell you to pound "sand". The "tide" has turned and you will get "burned". It just seems so "fish"y.

Posted by Anonymous | May 3, 2012 1:58 PM

^Oh so witty yet oh so wrong.

Posted by Anonymous | May 3, 2012 2:01 PM

Beach House at Bowery makes total sense..since its Johnny Beach's house..

Posted by Anonymous | May 3, 2012 2:03 PM

I made $800 on the Weeknd shows and I plan on making around $400 on this. Already got my tickets for Beach House, I will buy 8 tickets tomorrow and sell them for 120 each. Should be a nice chunk of change. PS. MY Weeknd tickets sold for $212 each.

Posted by Anonymous | May 3, 2012 2:22 PM

The limit is 2, dude.

Posted by Anonymous | May 3, 2012 2:54 PM

how comes you will get 8 tomorrow and most people won't get any?

Posted by Anonymous | May 3, 2012 3:03 PM

2:54 speed limit is 55 on most highyways doesn't mean someone can't go 80! Pay off the right people you get what you want...sad fact!

Posted by Anonymous | May 3, 2012 3:13 PM

12:16 is a doooooosh

Posted by Anonymous | May 3, 2012 3:23 PM

Shows I probably will spend money on and forget tomorrow in 2012: the three I attended last week and Beach House.

Posted by Anonymous | May 3, 2012 3:31 PM

1220 and 109 are the only people on here making sense. obviously that guy isn't gonna pull 8 tickets tomorrow; it's a technological impossibility. maybe his friends will pull the extra 6, but they'd be suckers just to hand those over to him so he can re-sell instead of doing it themselves.

Posted by Anonymous | May 3, 2012 3:45 PM

Guess I'm gonna camp out at Mercury Lounge tonight!

Also, 12:20's hypothetical example is full of implausibly shitty circumstances. That's why no one has responded to it.

Posted by Anonymous | May 3, 2012 4:14 PM

there was literally a BV post today addressing the exact same thing 1220 was talking about. direct quote:

"In addition, the revised bill would establish protections for consumers using the increasingly popular "paperless tickets," which hamper the resale of tickets but also can inconvenience consumers. It would also require that a refund be made up to two weeks before the event and prohibits fees on the first transfer of the tickets." [NJ.com]

will-call only is essentially paperless ticketing (i know it's not EXACTLY the same, but it basically is). i've never been handed a paper ticket at a will-call only show; they just check your name off a list and let you in. if you know well in advance of the show that you can't make it, the ticketing service should allow you to do something about that. that's fair business practice.

Posted by Anonymous | May 3, 2012 7:15 PM

really surprised i didnt get any........NOT!!!!!
