Posted by Anonymous | May 1, 2012 10:23 AM

^and what BBQ have you tried up north?

Posted by Anonymous | May 1, 2012 10:31 AM

vegan farts are gross

Posted by Anonymous | May 1, 2012 10:31 AM

Yankees? Most of the vendors that come to this event are coming from the south.

Non-Vegan means that people will be decently dressed, willing to dance and enjoy themselves, and not overcome with a crushing sense of ennui.

NYC bb

NYC bbq is def overrated and very overpriced. Best place ive been is Georgia's BBQ in LES. Cheap and Tasty. Blue Smoke sucks.

This event usually makes me want to hurl due to the fact that the streets are littered with bones..However, seeing SCOTS for free I will make an exception ..

Agree. Blue Smoke does suck. Georgia's is pretty good.

Posted by Anonymous | May 1, 2012 11:24 AM

Jon Langford comes from Leeds and always serves it up just right.

This is the greatest annual event in NYC. I love it with every fiber of my being.

Fette Sau has great BBQ. Its Definitely overpriced though.

You may not like Blue Smoke, but saying it sucks? That's crazy talk. You're tripping if you think Blue Smoke sucks.

Gotta try this Georgias place though, thanks for the tip on that. Always looking for good BBQ in the city. As someone pointed out, finding passable BBQ in NYC is hard, but not impossible.

As someone else said, the majority of the food vendors are based in the south (many are award-winners) and travel great distances to come up here for this event. Only 4 of the 18 vendors are from NYC.

probably exaggerated by saying blue smoke sucks....guess i just find it annoying when i go to Hill County or Blue Smoke and get a decent meal and end up paying a lot.

southern food looses its charm when its expensive

12:00 - this is 11:39 here - you are absolutely right. I love the food at Blue Smoke but really dislike paying as much as I must for it (so I don't go that often). If we had wider open spaces close by, the price might be lower. I was out in Colorado last year, and hit this BBQ joint off Arapaho that set me back $22 for literally more ribs (4 styles), slaw, and corn bread than I was able to physically eat, and it was as good as Blue Smoke.

RE: 12:00
When BBQ gets over priced it misese the point.

Newark has some great Portuguese BBQ...for NYC Dinosaur it is!

SCOTS are awesome, but I haven't listened to them in years. Do they have any new stuff? Any good?

Posted by Anonymous | May 1, 2012 1:00 PM

Blue Smoke doesn't suck. They make the most legit BBQ in NYC. They're the only place with actual smokers!

Posted by Anonymous | May 1, 2012 1:13 PM

Hey 11:39, welcome to Manhattan. Things don't cost what they do in CO.

Posted by Anonymous | May 1, 2012 1:15 PM

^ no ... really? Doesn't 5th period start soon, sonny?

Posted by Anonymous | May 1, 2012 1:17 PM

@1:13 - plus, not to mention the fine jazz available at night downstairs. Being able to enjoy some tasty BBQ while listening to fine live jazz - that's worth a little extra I think.

Blue Smoke is like eating leather with BBQ sauce on it. Tough as hell.
