Governors Ball

They write:

Interested in being a part of Team Gov Ball? We are looking for kind, eager, and able-bodied individuals that can work with others, have some fun, and earn a ticket to Gov Ball 2012. You'll learn a bit about what it takes to produce a music festival, save yourself some coin, meet some cool people, get an official Team Gov Ball shirt, and much more! Check out all the deets HERE.
Kid Cudi was added to the Saturday lineup of the two days June fest, and I think that's the first new artist they've announced since Fiona Apple.

I would volunteer if they were offering me free hummus.

I would volunteer if they had offers of free hummus.

This has nothing to do with LeBron James.

Posted by Anonymous | May 11, 2012 11:31 AM

Ticket sales must be SLOWWWWWWW

Posted by Anonymous | May 11, 2012 11:36 AM

Governor's BALLS.

Posted by Anonymous | May 11, 2012 11:39 AM

I bet we'll be able to find tickets for $50 come the week of this festival...

Posted by Anonymous | May 11, 2012 11:45 AM

this festival went from awesome to shitty so quickly

will be the 3rd best festival on randalls island this summer

Posted by Anonymous | May 11, 2012 11:46 AM

theres a reason there is a stagehand union.

Posted by Anonymous | May 11, 2012 11:49 AM

I thought there were only 2 festivals on Randall's? Governors Ball and Electric Zoo. Either way I'm surprised they'd solicit volunteers here and not just go to local colleges.

Posted by Anonymous | May 11, 2012 12:54 PM

Oh, you get to PAY $15 to work for them in exchange for hopefully getting an ticket overpriced ticket refunded. Yeah right. Have fun, gullible college doofuses.

Posted by DV | May 11, 2012 12:55 PM

Not sure where I can score hotter chicks. This or electric zoo.

A call for free labor under the guise of a call for volunteers - dontcha love it?

The city can eat a fucking dick for allowing this anti-jobs, anti-labor unions practice on publicly owned land.

It is high time the city requires local unsigned artists to be booked onto these fests on public land as well as workers of these fests to be paid.

Posted by D | May 11, 2012 1:30 PM

^unsigned artists, lulz Its 2012

Posted by Anonymous | May 11, 2012 1:38 PM

Hey dumbo most bands on these fests are signed or have some distro deal which is signed in another way, hence "unsigned" bands.

Posted by D | May 11, 2012 1:42 PM

Oh dear god.

Posted by Anonymous | May 11, 2012 1:48 PM

D wants to force music festivals to require they have bands play that no one has heard of an no one cares about. It's not like there aren't 8 million other places in NYC for 'unsigned' bands to play. More left wing Nazi shit.

Posted by Anonymous | May 11, 2012 1:51 PM

Distro....lulz...D it's 2012. Fucking distro. haha. get a bandcamp page or whatever. Distro....good one D.

Posted by Anonymous | May 11, 2012 1:55 PM

This is actually a pretty deep lineup? No massive names to speak of, but a lot of solid ones

Posted by Anonymous | May 11, 2012 2:02 PM

So, you guys aren't volunteering?

Posted by Anonymous | May 11, 2012 2:11 PM

College kids don't read this blog. Not sure why they'd waste their time with this post here. Should have just been Cudi!

Posted by Anonymous | May 11, 2012 2:14 PM

They must be struggling to add some crap like this, he had one catchy song in like 08 and thats it!

Posted by Anonymous | May 11, 2012 2:40 PM

$100 + $40 ferry for this piece of shit lineup?! Anddddd you want people to work for free?! Suck my balls.

Posted by Anonymous | May 11, 2012 2:42 PM

you can take a cab or subway/walk to Randall's. why on earth would someone opt to pay $40 for a ferry? ticket price is reasonable, i guesssss

Posted by Anonymous | May 11, 2012 2:51 PM

251pm Cab ride would cost more lol

Posted by Anonymous | May 11, 2012 2:58 PM

@2:58 Nah it costs me $15 from Gramercy for EZoo every year.

Posted by Anonymous | May 11, 2012 3:00 PM

left wing nazis?

Posted by Anonymous | May 11, 2012 3:14 PM

Would they not have changed the name to Randalls Ball now. That was a bit stupid of them

Posted by Anonymous | May 11, 2012 4:45 PM

Not sure the fact that they're looking for volunteers is newsworthy.
Down with Cudi though. Nice addition to a stellar lineup.

This line up is very weak. Passion Pit is a minor player on festival line ups. Chromeo plays about three times a year in NYC.. Kid Kuddi is rap for white people. Went last year and had so much fun seeing neon Indian pretty lights and empire of the sun. This year is reaks of desperation. Randals island is going to make the crowd appear so small compared to governors ball ..would have been smarter at the new Williamsburg venue ... Both days' headliners could never fill msg at half capacity ... This is a wait and watch what the weather is doing festival

Posted by Anonymous | May 11, 2012 9:58 PM

Randall's Island is smaller capacity than Gov Island. Probably why they don't need any 'MSG' size bands there. Dumbass.

1:51pm Left wing Nazi shit? First off, read a book as what I wrote has nothing to do with Naziism. Second it is not "left wing" to require a business to hire people who pay taxes on the land the business is using to make a profit, it's pro-jobs thus pro-economy and pro-America because even though it's a temporary gig, it's x amount more in peoples' pockets to save and spend, and spending fuels capitalism.
The bottom line is a ticket to this event is $100, so a worker could easily be paid $100 or even $200 (two paid people.)

1:55pm Yeah it's 2012, thanks for pointing that out twice. Distro is common slang in the music business, jackass.

good cause.
