Jack White at Roseland Ballroom 5/22/12
Jack White

Jack White played his second of two nights at Roseland Ballroom last night (5/22), again supported by Alabama Shakes. Unlike at his first Roseland show (pictures HERE), which was with his all-male band Los Buzzardos, last night's was with his all-female band, The Peacocks, though he was joined by Los Buzzardos for the encore.

Jack covered similar territory to night 1 with seven White Stripes songs, two Raconteurs tracks ("Carolina Drama" and "Top Yourself"), a Rome cut, and a Dead Weather track ("I Cut Like a Buffalo") in the encore. Like he did the night before, Jack finished off the evening with a pair of White Stripes songs, "Catch Hell Blues" and "Seven Nation Army".

If you missed Jack White live and the flesh, hopefully you caught the set on satellite radio.

More pictures and the setlist from last night's show below...

"No Rome cover"

Looks at setlist and there is a Rome cover. Also no talk about surprising everyone and playing the encore on a completely different stage?

Posted by Anonymous | May 23, 2012 5:39 PM

There's a Rome cut in that setlist?
Interested to see how he tours this thing internationally...

Posted by Rich | May 23, 2012 5:40 PM

The review is actually pretty inconsistent with the setlist. I count 7 White Stripes songs not 3

Posted by Anonymous | May 23, 2012 5:41 PM

yeah...uh...?

Posted by Anonymous | May 23, 2012 5:43 PM

There was also a song that he appeared to have made up on the spot.

Posted by Anonymous | May 23, 2012 5:43 PM

So Night 1 gets incredible drummer, incredible keyboardist and the best Raconteurs single.

Night 2 gets incredible backing vocalists, the best cut from the new album (the single) and 3 or 4 more songs than night 1....

Night 2 wins?

chuck baby don't give a ...

Webster Hall show wins.

How could you not mention the surprise stage - guess the reviewer left before the show ended.

Are you calling Carla a bad drummer?

Posted by JT | May 23, 2012 6:11 PM

Why is he wearing a wedding ring? Is he married AGAIN???

Posted by Anonymous | May 23, 2012 6:12 PM

@Anon 6:12--- Yes, he actually married every member of both bands, but there's a rumor that they might all be siblings.

Posted by Anonymous | May 23, 2012 6:30 PM

This incorrect:

Jack covered similar territory to night 1 with three White Stripes songs ("Hotel Yorba", We're Going to Be Friends" and "The Hardest Button to Button"), two Raconteurs tracks ("Carolina Drama" and "Top Yourself"), and a Dead Weather track ("I Cut Like a Buffalo") in the encore. No Rome cuts this time though. Like he did the night before, Jack finished off the evening with a pair of White Stripes songs, "Catch Hell Blues" and "Seven Nation Army".
----

So Jack White didn't play those three White Stripes or "Carolina Drama" on Day 1.

Also, as people mentioned, there was a Rome cut as well.

Solid pictures though!

This really seems like a review from someone who either wasn't there (and borrowed from other reviews), or left halfway through the show. So factually incorrect that the person should be let go. Very weak journalism.

Posted by Anonymous | May 23, 2012 7:03 PM

That's a weird guitar harness he's wearing. Has he always used that?

Posted by Anonymous | May 23, 2012 7:06 PM

Seeing this show in Detroit tomorrow night......so fucking stoked!!

Posted by Anonymous | May 23, 2012 7:19 PM

I was there and the lines were NOT an issue. I was able to get either (good) wine or beer by waiting in a single line for two minutes max. Also, the sight lines for every band were excellent (even if one or two were not my cup of tea) and the conversations were funny and piqued my interest (and appetite!). I have lived in New York City for over ten years and I think this was one of the funnest and best-run festivals -- looking forward to today and hope they bring it back next year! The whole crowd was having a good time -- anyone who says otherwise was not there.

Posted by Anonymous | May 23, 2012 10:00 PM

i think he wore his guitar on his shoulder so he could play the piano easier ..

Posted by Anonymous | May 23, 2012 10:10 PM

Jackie's starting to resemble present day Robert Smith and that's not good for anyone

Posted by Anonymous | May 23, 2012 10:36 PM

these are some pretty awesome pictures

Posted by Anonymous | May 23, 2012 11:19 PM

Jack & Karen are still married, they were going to to get divorced, even had a fancy little soiree, but never actually filed.

Jack has had some back issues over the years and probably uses the side guitar strap apparatus to augment it. He does not use it all the time, he's mainly using that strap for his heavy telecaster.

I know a lot of people think the guy drummer (Daru) is brilliant and amazing, but I think the guy hurts almost every new and old song by over playing, the lad is WAY TOO BUSY.

I was at both nights at the Roseland and the Webster Hall show, night 2 at Roseland had the best crowd response, but Webster Hall was better sounding/performed and had that hard to come by important-show feel (because of the Gary Oldman/AMEX thing).

Posted by BP Fallon | May 24, 2012 12:25 AM

show one was much much better

Posted by Anonymous | May 24, 2012 3:03 AM

10:00pm FTW!

"So factually incorrect that the person should be let go."

this statement is funny on many levels.

Posted by Anonymous | May 24, 2012 10:10 AM

how do you NOT have any pictures of the end of the show? you have one of the crowd exiting form the top level. looks like you got to lazy to simply walk downstairs and take a few pictures, great journalism

Posted by Anonymous | May 24, 2012 11:26 AM

@1010 they changed the whole review. it was so wrong before

Posted by Anonymous | May 24, 2012 11:33 AM

Hahahaha @11:26 comes to BV for journalism.

Posted by Anonymous | May 24, 2012 11:54 AM

Rock,. guitar player this one i love. THanks for nice picture too

Posted by ezamp3 | May 24, 2012 1:21 PM

12:25--heavy Telecaster?
A Tele is probably the lightest guitar this guy has ever played.

Posted by Anonymous | May 24, 2012 2:35 PM

@2:35 - He played two lighter guitars at the shows. His army-navy gibson acoustic and his kay are both be lighter than the tele...

Posted by Anonymous | May 24, 2012 3:43 PM

no one comes to bv for journalism, but we expect the content of articles to at least be factually correct with regards to the songs that were played, etc.

Posted by Anonymous | May 24, 2012 3:54 PM

I'm trying to find out about the crazy guitar strap as well...it was actually more like a harness. One strap over his right shoulder and another piece at a right angle around his midsection. Never seen it before, but its cool. And having no picture from the surprise side-stage encore is lame...the photg was right there next to him!

Posted by Anonymous | May 25, 2012 4:30 PM

Jack White is brilliant.

BP Fallon is commenting on Jack White's personal life?

That looks like a great set! I hope Jack makes it to central Florida sometime.

who fuckin cares? this dude is a straight up fuckin jizz load of dog shit who probably tries to suck himself off for breakfast lunch and dinner in the mirror all day every day while getting skull fucked, tag teamed, and gang banged by every last piece of wildlife and vegetation from the mojave desert to the wilds of siberia eight days a week rain snow hail and jizz storm. tell him to at least get an estimate the next time his tailor flash bangs him in the ass with a lightning bolts while puking flaming elephant shit into his mothers pussy in an endless time warp of his bitch boy mar mitzvah for all eternity.
