Mick Jagger

The 37th season of Saturday Night Live comes to a close next weekend (May 19) where Rolling Stones frontman Mick Jagger will pull double duty as both host and musical guest. Before you plan your bathroom breaks you might be interested to learn that Mick's backing band will include both Foo Fighters and Arcade Fire. Though we're still eight days from the live telecast, Jann Wenner has already give the SNL season finale five stars.

Meanwhile, this week's SNL has Will Ferrell and Usher.

What songs Mick will do is anyone's guess, but Will (brother of Win) Butler and other members of the Arcade Fire (as Phi Slamma Jamma) may have been getting some practice with a cover of the Stones' "The Last Time" at last weekend's Crossing Brooklyn Ferry festival.

Last year, Mick released the debut album by his new group SuperHeavy that also includes Joss Stone, Damian Marley and the Eurythmics' Dave Stewart. The video for SuperHeavy's single "Miracle Worker" is below.

He certainly does. Just watch him in Shine A Light, the documentary on their Beacon Theatre shows. Rubbing up on Christina Aguilera like the lucky-as-fuck old man that he is.

That's kinda creepy, 4:13.

Seriously. Read that again.

That is going to be a killer line-up. This is one of the few times that I am really looking forward to seeing the show.

Mick Jagger Foo Fighters.. massive massive.

This looks like the reggae/ dub version of the Verizon commercial from a couple of years ago.

Does Mick have tourette's syndrome? Who taught that old cunt lapper how to dance?

Posted by Anonymous | May 12, 2012 9:42 AM

That video already looks like an SNL skit.

Their '78 appearance will never be topped.

Wow SNL is really scraping the bottom of the barrel. I mean I love Mick, but as a Rolling Stone. Dude can't act - see the movie he was in with Whoopi Goldberg. SNL couldn't find a host and have Mick just play music?

SNL needs to end because most of their skits are imitation-based and they have product-placement as much as possible in them which cheapens the show, besides that it isn't as funny as it was through the dual-final season of the late Phil Hartmann and the late Chris Farley.

Also enough with Foo Fighters and Arcade Fire. Played out. Artificial Grammy greatness shit is being run with FF cuz they win for Best Album EVERY TIME they put out a new album.

Grammy's are about worthless they give those to anyone. Its a highly overated awards show. Any awards show that puts the Osbournes for a host cant be taken serious. Sell outs. SNL is terrible tried to watch Will Ferell because he is funny as hell but man that writing and those skits are about the dummest shit Ive ever seen. Why would you put that many musical guests on a has been comedy show? Doesnt any person remember that lip syncing girl stupid, stupid, stupid!

Jagger absolutely can act - watch "Performance" if you have any doubt of that. If you're judging his abilities by shit like "Freejack," then your taste in movies is shit. This dumb "supergroup" is a horrible idea - this video is a ripoff of the "Undercover of the Night" video and he's surrounded with people obsessed with technical "greatness." Way to assassinate creativity, Mick - throwing in your lot with three incredible loads like these!

joss stone totally took it from every guy in that band to be a member.

sux dix fo trax

Jagger can act? Since when? Performance? Wow, one good movie, if that. Let's have him host SNL when he could just play it.

Posted by D | May 13, 2012 6:41 PM

Here's Mick's "acting career":

http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0001396/#Actor

If "Performance" is his best job or the only good one he did as an actor, he did it 42 years ago.

Posted by D | May 13, 2012 6:47 PM

Wow, when Mick first starts singing in that SuperHeavy video, it's like you're watching the guy from Flight of The Conchords.

Posted by Dave | May 13, 2012 9:06 PM

He was great in "Ned Kelly" and "Bent" as well. Seven feature films, three of them worthwhile - you make it sound like that's all his done in the past 42 years.

Posted by Crosseyed Sniper | May 14, 2012 2:37 AM

Mick played himself in the short-lived ABC sitcom "Knights of Prosperity". His scenes in the show were amusing. Sadly, the show did not last long.

"dummest shit"

LOL

ironic

Posted by Anonymous | May 20, 2012 4:08 AM

It was a good mix.Really wanted to hear the Foos had enough of Mick and the Stones in the
seventies. He was great as host though.Maybe some more acting?

This is just what I would always wanted to do and Yes I've got to realize that everything seems to be doing alright...
