Peelander-Z

New Brooklyn food and music festival GoogaMooga just spent two extremely sunny days in Prospect Park which is hard to believe on this extremely rainy Monday. And though the weather was super, a few other details were not, and for that they've apologized along with a promise to be back next year. You've already seen pictures from Saturday and Sunday. Here are some more from Sunday. They continue below...

I was there both days and the lines were NOT an issue. I was able to get either (good) wine or beer by waiting in a single line for two minutes max. Also, the sight lines for every band were excellent (even if one or two were not my cup of tea) and the conversations were funny and piqued my interest (and appetite!). I have lived in New York City for over ten years and I think this was one of the funnest and best-run festivals -- hope they bring it back next year! The whole crowd was having a good time -- anyone who says otherwise was not there. Bravo, GoogaMooga!

Another post? I'm running out of hilarious ways to say that this event was run poorly.

Posted by Anonymous | May 21, 2012 4:46 PM

I would have spent a lot more $$$ if I actually could get a beer!

Posted by Anonymous | May 21, 2012 4:50 PM

how many times is that first commenter going to make the same fucking comment?

Bravo GoogleBooger PR team!

Posted by Anonymous | May 21, 2012 4:52 PM

4:52 - It's clearly not the PR team who could probably give a shit at this point. It's obvious that some people are trying to turn that comment into a BV meme by constantly reposting it.

Posted by Anonymous | May 21, 2012 4:54 PM

Blow job?

Posted by Anonymous | May 21, 2012 4:59 PM

it is the PR team. if it was a BV person, he'd switch out random words and replace them with 'hummus' or 'meh.'

Posted by Anonymous | May 21, 2012 5:03 PM

she is waiting for a mouthful of goo, gah

Posted by Anonymous | May 21, 2012 5:08 PM

Maybe they just want to get under the skin of the weak minded and easily offended? Could it be?

Posted by Anonymous | May 21, 2012 5:12 PM

Idiots.

How did she "humanize" the "waiting process"? With a happy ending?

Posted by Anonymous | May 21, 2012 5:24 PM

The Great Googa MEHga

Posted by Anonymous | May 21, 2012 5:24 PM

I do believe that there were more people of color at the Googa Mooga than were at all of the Occupy gatherings combined.

Posted by Anonymous | May 21, 2012 5:25 PM

Say what you want about the festival, at least the sign girls were hot.

Posted by Anonymous | May 21, 2012 5:33 PM

there are now too many threads on this fest to complain on.

Posted by Anonymous | May 21, 2012 6:04 PM

LOL "Ask me where I've traveled" t-shirt. What a shameless conversation piece.

Posted by Anonymous | May 21, 2012 6:08 PM

Would destroy those two line-waiting Chinese bitches.

Posted by Anonymous | May 21, 2012 6:38 PM

6:38 - how do you know that they're Chinese? They could be Korean, Thai, from Singapore....

Posted by Anonymous | May 21, 2012 6:49 PM

6:38 -

...all countries where Chinese people come from.

Posted by Anonymous | May 21, 2012 7:00 PM

6:25 - That's because the Roots all showed up .

Posted by Anonymous | May 21, 2012 7:00 PM

Sorry, at 7 PM, I meant to address that to 6:49.

Does GoogaMooga mean shitty festival with long lines and bad music in some foreign language?

Posted by Anonymous | May 21, 2012 7:58 PM

Yes ^

Posted by Anonymous | May 21, 2012 8:10 PM

"6:38 - how do you know that they're Chinese? They could be Korean, Thai, from Singapore...."

Same thing.

Posted by Anonymous | May 21, 2012 8:50 PM

There was absolutely nothing wrong with this festival that dropping some Napalm wouldn't cure.

Posted by Anonymous | May 21, 2012 8:52 PM

Why did someone photograph a bag with the untalented Stephen Colbert on it? Were interesting objects so hard to find there>

Posted by Anonymous | May 21, 2012 9:42 PM

I honestly had a really good time at this thing.

Posted by Anonymous | May 21, 2012 9:54 PM

9:42 - yes you weren't there so I had to photograph loser photos on of loser funny tv personalities on a loser bag at a loser festival.

Posted by Anonymous | May 21, 2012 10:04 PM

So this wasn't an electronic music festival?

That name makes no fucking sense then.

Googa Mooga is a racist term. It is a battle cry that our African brethren yell when they throw spears... "GOOGA MOOGA!" *throw spear*

Absolute worst comments ever.
Looks like a great Yuppiestock though.

I had a really great time on Sunday. Met an awesome chick named Allison during Fitz and the Tantrums and then forgot to ask for her number. Allison, if you see this, I'm looking for you!

Posted by Anonymous | May 22, 2012 5:22 AM

a line full of people is asked to get "humanized" that's a serious challenge, did they wait in line to change their socks?

Posted by Anonymous | May 22, 2012 5:24 AM

I went on Sunday. After hearing all the complaints about Saturday I came VERY close to skipping it. But I love me some Hall & Oates so I figured at the very least I'll just catch their set & bolt.

Surprisingly, I had a great time. I thought everything ran super smoothly. Granted, it may have helped that I wasn't drinking so I skipped all the booze lines, but they admittedly didn't look bad at all.

I was expecting to wait in ridiculously long lines for tiny morsels of food (if there was even anything left), but the longest I waited was 30 minutes for a grilled cheese. (I know, that sounds stupid, but it was just that once.) Every other line was between 5-10 minutes, if that. My friend & I expected to barely eat anything but we left completely STUFFED!

The only problem was that maybe a third of the vendors ran out of food early (I arrived around 3pm). But the rest were still going strong. That wasn't Googa Mooga's fault though-- that was all on each individual vendor. Yes, it was slightly annoying but it was mainly just STUPID on their part to not prepare properly. Those vendors missed out on HOURS of potential revenue. There were two vendors that served lobster & had long lines all day! If those places could have brought enough fucking LOBSTERS for the entire day, there's no excuse for the other vendors running out of ice cream or chicken or some shit. Their loss though.

I was really ready to hate this thing but I ended up having a really good time. Maybe they just needed to work out the kinks from Saturday.

OMG 5:22, this is Allison! Freaky, I was just talking to my friend about you! How weird. Maybe we could go do something some time? I would like that.

Posted by Allison | May 22, 2012 9:12 AM

that's right, folks. fucking LOBSTERS!

Posted by Anonymous | May 22, 2012 9:30 AM

Lobster is overated- chewy, watery, flavorless. plus I hate free shit.
I also hate when people who don't know each other have a good time on a beautiful day. I hate Prospect Pk too- nothing special-Central Pk is better. It's bigger, more trees, less hipsters. i pretty much hate all music so i would never attend a shitty festival like this. Actually I hate just about everything.

No way 9:12... If its really you my mind is going to explode! I can't believe its really you unless you can tell me my name or something...

Posted by Anonymous | May 22, 2012 8:42 PM

Holy shit! Allison, hit me up at GoogaMoogaThrowAway@gmail.com and let me know its really you. I had a ton of fun and would love to get together again!

I hope you check this again 9:12!!!

1) What in god's name is a Line Talker? Sounds insufferable to endure. Why does everyone have to talk all the time? Can't I just wait in a line in silence?

2) Daryl Hall's hair looks incredible. What shampoo is he using?

Posted by Anonymous | May 23, 2012 7:53 PM

Allsion from Austin! Email me!

Posted by Eddie | May 25, 2012 5:33 AM

I only hit up Sunday, but it was a great day. Sure, we had to wait on line for 5-10 minutes...big deal. We just followed the music and waited while listening to whatever band was on at the time. Any complaining about a free event (with such amazing food and pretty damn good music) should really look at themselves and question whether they can have fun anywhere.
