Posted by Anonymous | May 9, 2012 9:36 AM

This lineup makes me feel really out of the loop.

Posted by Anonymous | May 9, 2012 9:36 AM

remember when the south street seaport shows were some of the best shows of the summer (2007, 2008)? Yeah, those were the days!

Posted by Anonymous | May 9, 2012 9:38 AM

remember when wire played one of these?

and yo la tengo?

and polvo?

...and SONIC YOUTH??????

Posted by Anonymous | May 9, 2012 9:39 AM

the national, camera obscura... lots of great shows were held there. used to be the best free show "venue" in the city.

Posted by Anonymous | May 9, 2012 9:55 AM

Remember Best Coast? Wedding Pressent? Suidide? The best shows in the city were at South Steet Seaport.

Posted by Anonymous | May 9, 2012 10:11 AM

total womp

Posted by Anonymous | May 9, 2012 10:14 AM

Posted by Anonymous | May 9, 2012 10:18 AM

Posted by Anonymous | May 9, 2012 10:41 AM

"Remember Best Coast? Wedding Pressent? Suidide? The best shows in the city were at South Steet Seaport."

That's kind of like saying the best shows in the city NOW are at South Street Seaport.

Who are these bands again?

Posted by Anonymous | May 9, 2012 10:42 AM

I think I heard of Loney Dear once

Posted by Anonymous | May 9, 2012 10:45 AM

10:30 the old ones or the new ones? The new ones have Mercury in them and you need hazmat if you break one...I would recomend using the older ones..

Posted by Anonymous | May 9, 2012 10:50 AM

^ considering the word "vageen" was old, I'm going to assume 10:30 is Kazakh, so there's probably only the old ones there. Nothing for him/her/shim/Keith Caputo to worry about.

what an insanely useless line up

Posted by Anonymous | May 9, 2012 11:03 AM

what the fuck

Posted by Anonymous | May 9, 2012 11:03 AM

Remember Dirty Projectors' ride-the-lightning jump a bunch of years back? That was awesome.

Maybe it's because I don't read pf anymore but I have no idea who any of these people are. Maybe they're good?

Posted by Anonymous | May 9, 2012 11:17 AM

Josh Ritter, Damien Rice, and the Frames are among those that played the Seaport in the past also.

Posted by Anonymous | May 9, 2012 11:41 AM

Remember Animal Collective? That was a clusterfuck!

Posted by Anonymous | May 9, 2012 12:15 PM

lower dens and yacht played too

Posted by Anonymous | May 9, 2012 12:17 PM

xx, Black Moth Super Rainbow, Weekend (rained out)

Posted by Anonymous | May 9, 2012 12:29 PM

The best free shows are at Pier 54 and a few at Prospect Park, but that's really it this summer. The line-up for all free shows across the city are the weakest in the 5 years I have lived here. Seriously, these line-ups are getting worse by the year. Maybe I am getting old, but I think there is less new good music than what was coming out back in 2006-2009.

Posted by Anonymous | May 9, 2012 1:07 PM

who are these bands?

Posted by Anonymous | May 9, 2012 1:46 PM

best lineup i've ever seen

Posted by Anonymous | May 9, 2012 2:08 PM

BETTER THAN WOODSTOCK

Posted by Anonymous | May 9, 2012 2:15 PM

there isn't less good music but less budget. as simple as it gets.

Posted by Anonymous | May 9, 2012 3:07 PM

garbage

Posted by Anonymous | May 9, 2012 3:32 PM

It is free children, stop crying.

Posted by Anonymous | May 9, 2012 3:47 PM

i even saw THE BAND for free there, WTF.
since bloomberg is slashing every social program he can to fuel the police state and get down to the important business of beating and jailing peaceful protestors...
i blame him.

the reverb revival killed rock, maybe for good. no wonder E.D.M., against all odds is huge. it's got a might big vacuum to fill.

Posted by Anonymous | May 9, 2012 5:05 PM

^ funny you say that, because there are 0 EDM free concerts this year. Maybe Mad Decent does another block party, but that's it. 2009 Boys Noize at Summerstage was killer

Posted by Anonymous | May 9, 2012 5:08 PM

Rmmbr "Battles" in 2007?

Posted by Anonymous | May 10, 2012 12:44 AM

wait, garbage is playing?!?!

Posted by Anonymous | May 10, 2012 1:28 PM

3:07 good music has nothing to do with less or bigger budget

Posted by Anonymous | May 11, 2012 9:38 AM

River to River officially sucks this year. So sad to see the Castle Clinton shows go and so sad to see that they obviously didn't give the Seaport any money. LAME LAME LAME

Posted by Anonymous | May 11, 2012 10:47 AM

It is free children, stop crying.

Posted by android | May 12, 2012 4:50 PM

No shit it's free, that's not lost on us. But there are usually awesome bands booked for free that are some of the best of the summer. I don't know one of these bands. I probably won't go to any of these. Yea, it's still free, doesn't mean it's not a let down.

Posted by Stephen Whitfield | May 15, 2012 12:41 AM

Er, listen to new music? You really haven't heard Veronica Falls?

Posted by Anonymous | June 6, 2012 11:51 AM

I've never heard of any of these people guess I won't be spending any time at the South Street Seaport
