The Gaslight Anthem at Radio City in 2010 (more by Chris La Putt)
Gaslight Anthem

The Gaslight Anthem, who previewed material from their upcoming major label debut, Handwritten, at MHOW last week before playing Bamboozle over the weekend, have announced an extensive tour of the US and Canada this summer and fall. The first leg will go down this July after they play the Metallica-headlined Orion Music & More festival in Atlantic City. That run culminates in a NYC show at Webster Hall on July 24. Tickets for the Webster Hall show are not on sale yet but check ticketmaster for updates.

After heading to Europe in August, they'll return for more North American dates which include shows with Hot Water Music (who play their second of two NYC shows TONIGHT [5/22]) and Rise Against, but none of those dates are in NYC.

The Gaslight Anthem have released more details on Handwritten, which is due out July 24 via Mercury, including the first single, "45," album art, and tracklist, all of which you can check out below. They've also announced that surrounding the July leg of their tour, they'll appear on The Late show with David Letterman on June 28 and Late Night with Jimmy Fallon on July 27.

A list of all Gaslight Anthem tour dates, the "45" song stream, album art and tracklist are below.

why no review of the MHOW show?

How about this - no tattoos and no piercings are the new rebellion?

Posted by Anonymous | May 22, 2012 2:35 PM

What a shitty band.

Posted by Dave | May 22, 2012 2:50 PM

Bands that mimic old-style '50s and '60s album covers to try to make their music seem 'hefty' are the worst.

Posted by Anonymous | May 22, 2012 2:54 PM

what do you like?

Posted by Anonymous | May 22, 2012 2:55 PM

Bands that don't suck.

Posted by Dave | May 22, 2012 2:58 PM

ha good answer

Posted by Anonymous | May 22, 2012 3:02 PM

Reminds me of the Broken Social Scene album cover.

Posted by Anonymous | May 22, 2012 3:13 PM

It's a take-off on a Blue Note album cover, most likely Grant Green "Idle Moments".

Posted by Dave | May 22, 2012 3:24 PM

does anyone over 16 like this drivel?

Posted by Anonymous | May 22, 2012 3:31 PM

Just like the Court Tavern, this bands needs to call it a day.

surprised to see how many people here don't like the gaslight anthem. i'd be curious to know how many of you have actually heard their music.

also. hot water music slayed last night. was hoping for a review or pics.

^sort of like saying: "surprised to see how many people here don't shop at Hot Topic".

^sort of like saying: "surprised to see how many people here don't shop at Hot Topic".

Nope, totally wrong and only goes to show that you're probably some dork who goes nuts over Animal Collective and Grizzly Bear.

Gaslight Anthem shows will be great, can't wait.

God damn. Gaslight Anthem and Hot Water Music on the same bill is ridiculous.

Posted by Anonymous | May 22, 2012 3:57 PM

Gaslight Anthem is like a mall-rock version of Social D. I've tried to like them, and even saw them live. Sure they play well, but they are just so extremely bland.

Posted by Hank | May 22, 2012 4:05 PM

^and Social D was kind of a mall rock version of a fist wave punk band. So GA is sort of like a mall rock version of a mall rock version of an actual punk band.

Posted by Anonymous | May 22, 2012 4:18 PM

i don't know how this band got to where it is. they are terrible. as far as comparisons to social d i think that dude is trying to do his best to emulate mike ness with all those wanna be hardcore hand and neck tattoos. fucking douche.

Any band the starts out as a punk band and changes there sound to reach a larger audience is bound to alienate hard core punk fans. Thus, some of the negative comments. The other negative comments are from losers who like to criticize anything and everything.

Posted by anonymous | May 22, 2012 5:13 PM

Hot Pockets!

Posted by Anonymous | May 22, 2012 5:43 PM

Just another shitty band that prides itself on it's image and not their music.

Posted by Anonymous | May 22, 2012 6:10 PM

Emo disguised as Springsteen with even worse metaphors.

Posted by Anonymous | May 22, 2012 6:40 PM

Uh oh - watch out, Gaslight Anthem, the Cool Police are on to you! And they brought their bad grammar with them.

Posted by Anonymous | May 22, 2012 10:27 PM

Underemployed guys with sleeves are apparent upset?

Posted by Anonymous | May 22, 2012 10:42 PM

some people judge everything that they don't like even if that's good actually

Posted by Anonymous | May 23, 2012 7:59 AM

There's a song right there in the post, even if you've never heard them before you can find out pretty easily that they suck.

Posted by Anonymous | May 23, 2012 8:21 AM

Album cover is by Jason Munn maybe?

Posted by Anonymous | May 23, 2012 10:19 AM

Matchlight Fart

Posted by Anonymous | May 23, 2012 1:48 PM

Brian Fallon is not a poser, how about you start a band and try to please everyone in the entire world, they make good music, and if you don't like them because they're "rip-offs" then go back to listening to your music and stop judging them for playing the music they like.

what a great band.
