The Walkmen at BAM earlier this month (more by David Andrako)
The Walkmen

The Walkmen pushed the release of their new album, Heaven, from its original to June 5 release date to today (5/29) via Fat Possum/Bella Union. The album features guest vocals from Fleet Foxes frontman Robin Pecknold on "No One Ever Sleeps" and was produced by Phil Ek, who has also worked with Fleet Foxes. You can stream the album in full at NPR and purchase it on iTunes. Four individual tracks are streaming below, along with the cover art and tracklist.

The Walkmen, who played Crossing Brooklyn Ferry earlier this month have just squeezed another NYC show into their ongoing spring/summer tour. The newly added date is a small one for them and it goes down at Bowery Ballroom on June 6. Tickets for that show go on sale Friday (6/1) at noon and a 150 tickets are available at Other Music starting today (5/29), with a purchase of Heaven. 50 of those tickets are being reserved for web orders, and are free with a purchase of the new album.

If you can't make it to the Bowery Ballroom show, it will be streamed online via Spotify with video shot by the Blogotheque folks. The Walkmen will also play Late Night with Jimmy Fallon the night before their Bowery show (June 5).

Updated dates are listed below, along with the song streams, cover art and tracklist...

So they can play a venue as big as Red Rocks but choose to only play Bowery Ballroom here? lol

Posted by Anonymous | May 29, 2012 10:35 AM

The Bowery show will be one of those industry fests that will be "sold out" not a minute after it goes on sale on Friday. Glad I caught them at BAM.

Posted by Anonymous | May 29, 2012 10:42 AM

Wait there itinerary goes Spain, NYC, Portugal? Wha?

Posted by Anonymous | May 29, 2012 10:44 AM

10:35 they are opening for Florence and the Machine

Posted by Anonymous | May 29, 2012 10:46 AM

10:42 glad I caught them for free in Hoboken in October last year...was maybe 100 to 200 people there tops...free ice cream to boot!

Posted by Anonymous | May 29, 2012 10:47 AM

a joke of an on sale.

Posted by Anonymous | May 29, 2012 10:47 AM

Great Radiohead tickets dropping now for Newark..you're welcome

Posted by Anonymous | May 29, 2012 10:53 AM

"The Bowery show will be one of those industry fests that will be "sold out" not a minute after it goes on sale on Friday."

Maybe you didn't read the whole post, but 50 tickets are available via Other Music's website if you order the album now. Not sure if they're still available, but it's worth a shot. Worst case scenario, you bought an album for $13

singer has no penis

Posted by Anonymous | May 29, 2012 11:09 AM

^ no thats Against me!

Posted by Anonymous | May 29, 2012 11:13 AM

@ 10:53, THANK YOU!!! Just got front row!

Posted by Anonymous | May 29, 2012 11:19 AM

11:19 no problemo!

Posted by Anonymous | May 29, 2012 11:23 AM

Just scored the combo in store, over ten people were there at doors. Limited 2 album/ticket combos per person.

Posted by Anonymous | May 29, 2012 11:31 AM

10:53 should be knighted. THANK YOU, YOU ANONYMOUS SAINT!

Posted by Anonymous | May 29, 2012 11:33 AM

$15 for new vinyl & free concert ticket. done and done.

Posted by Anonymous | May 29, 2012 11:35 AM

Dear god, their albums just get better and better. Listening to "Heaven" for the fifth consecutive time right now. It's excellent.

Posted by Anonymous | May 29, 2012 11:35 AM

"@ 10:53, THANK YOU!!! Just got front row!"

Please explain how you got front row to Radiohead at the Prudential Center. The whole floor is GA. Either you meant to say you got front row on the side of the stage in the seats which is not front row at all or you are a troll.

Posted by Anonymous | May 29, 2012 11:38 AM

i'm not 11:19, but I also got tickets for section 19, row 1... if that's not front row, then what is it?

Posted by Anonymous | May 29, 2012 11:41 AM

What's your point, 11:35?

Posted by god | May 29, 2012 11:41 AM

Section 19 Front Row..great lower level seat...

Posted by Anonymous | May 29, 2012 11:41 AM

LULZ, dummies. Front row is front row IN FRONT of the stage. Jesus, morons. As if you have never been to a concert before. What you got 11:41 is a good ticket ON THE SIDE OF THE STAGE. Big difference.

Posted by Anonymous | May 29, 2012 11:44 AM

11:44 you sound a little slow...row 1 would seem to indicate first row...best reserved seat you can have at this show. I would say 1st row side of the stage is front row seated.

Posted by Anonymous | May 29, 2012 11:46 AM

"over ten people were there at doors"

Sounds like a madhouse.

Posted by Anonymous | May 29, 2012 11:46 AM

11:44 is pissed he missed the ticket drop..

Posted by Anonymous | May 29, 2012 11:47 AM

11:46 ha yeah that doesn't make it seem urgent to get on down there

Posted by Anonymous | May 29, 2012 11:48 AM

^^lol

Posted by Anonymous | May 29, 2012 11:48 AM

"11:44 is pissed he missed the ticket drop.."

11:47 is a fucking know nothing schmuck who is pissed that he just realized his front row ticket is not a front row ticket after all. I, 11:44, will be happy to wave to his moron ass from the actual front row which I will get to with my 2 GA WASTE presale tix.

Dumb ass.

Posted by Anonymous | May 29, 2012 11:55 AM

11:55 dude i knew exactly where my ticket was. i looked at the seating map and thought "that's a pretty good seat".

i'm anything but "pissed," i'm actually the happiest i've been in a while knowing i'm seeing radiohead for the first time in 8 years.

Posted by Anonymous | May 29, 2012 11:58 AM

^You really are slow..You will be waiting in line for 12 hours..I will waltz in at 830 pm...You will be straining your neck looking up and have to hold your pee all day. I will have a beer in hand, bathroom break and more..GA is for suckers..

Posted by Anonymous | May 29, 2012 11:58 AM

11:58 2 here...meant for 11:55 MR. GA

Posted by Anonymous | May 29, 2012 11:59 AM

first row of side section is not 'front row.'

need proof? post a picture on here from your seated section claiming it's a shot from the 'first row.'

then look at your picture.

then look at the pictures taken in the actual front row.

that's what's up.

Posted by Anonymous | May 29, 2012 12:00 PM

First Row of the closer seated sections are great seats.

But, yes, what 12PM said.

Posted by Anonymous | May 29, 2012 12:02 PM

if you really think standing in GA is going to be the preferable way to watch this, then enjoy! to each his own.

i'm definitely looking forward to being slightly elevated without a single person in front of me.

Posted by Anonymous | May 29, 2012 12:02 PM

^This

Posted by Anonymous | May 29, 2012 12:03 PM

12:00 if Row 1 is not front row explain its location...see if you can explain it without using the words row 1 or first row.

Posted by Anonymous | May 29, 2012 12:04 PM

12:02 is on the money. I also rather not wait elbow to elbow with people for 12 hours. I did about 6 hours at roseland and that was too many sweaty bros to deal with so I will enjoy my seat this time.

Posted by Anonymous | May 29, 2012 12:05 PM

great job guys

Posted by Anonymous | May 29, 2012 12:06 PM

12:00 ha ha buddy I got a good camera ;)

Posted by Anonymous | May 29, 2012 12:09 PM

You know the way some of you people feel about T5? About it being a steaming pile of shit? That is how I feel about seeing any musical act in a venue that is built to amplify echos of applause for basketball. I have formed this opinion over many years in many basketball-arena venues, and being slightly elevated over the crowd by to one side ... that's got echo-fail written all over it. Sorry Charlie, but that is the truth.

Posted by Anonymous | May 29, 2012 12:17 PM

1204 you explain it using the concept of 'rows of people' instead of 'rows of seats.'

yes. you are in the first 'row of seats.' but you are most likely in the 30th row of people at the absolute least. not a hard concept, i've been using it for every non-seated show i've ever been to in my life.

Posted by Anonymous | May 29, 2012 12:21 PM

^12:17 jokes on you no basketball is played at the Prudential Center ;)

Posted by Anonymous | May 29, 2012 12:22 PM

you know what's got comment-fail written all over it? the guy who keeps trying convince people who got row 1 tickets to Radiohead feel like they somehow got screwed.

Posted by Anonymous | May 29, 2012 12:25 PM

^this +1

Posted by Anonymous | May 29, 2012 12:28 PM

12:21 proved the point...guy bought front row tickets!

Posted by Anonymous | May 29, 2012 12:29 PM

>So they can play a venue as big as Red Rocks but choose to only play Bowery Ballroom here? lol

dear asshat. first, the bowery is the best place in nyc to see that band. they own that stage. i've seen them there before, and nyc is lucky to have that combo happening again. get off your lazy ass and go buy the album at om so you can stop your bitching. second, the waklmen are opening for florence the red head cunt and her maching at red rocks so people in colorado have to deal with that garbage in order to see the band. so again, stop your fucking crying you pussy. go get a cupcake at cake shop and shut the fuck up.

Posted by Anonymous | May 29, 2012 12:33 PM

the LP/ticket combo on Other Music's website only just sold out.

Posted by Anonymous | May 29, 2012 12:35 PM

"the LP/ticket combo on Other Music's website only just sold out. "

Yeah that and the 10 people at Other Music. Like said above. It was a madhouse and a crazy rush to get a ticket to this must see show

Posted by Anonymous | May 29, 2012 12:38 PM

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH,

Now i think i have read it all. People actually arguing if a seat on the side of the stage at an arena is a front row ticket. Seriously a bunch of dummies on here.

Also, to the dopes who claim they would rather be in that seat instead of GA up front. Give me a fucking break already. Yeah sitting down is how I imagine Radiohead would be most enjoyable. Not up dancing. Actually you will be able to see these fools cause they will be the only ones sitting down while everyone else is up on their feet.

And let me think, what area stadium tickets were people most trying to covet for LCD Soundsystem, Bruce Springsteen, Black Keys etc etc,. Oh yeah they were the GA pit not the seats on the side.

At large arena shows, the best sound, the best connection to the band and music is always up front in the pit. You want to delude yourselves with thinking different, go right ahead.

"12 hour wait"-Yeah maybe if you are an amateur who does not know how to push your way up

"not being able to get a beer and come back"-Again, amateurs

"Straining your neck to see"-Too stupid for words.

Posted by Anonymous | May 29, 2012 12:49 PM

^HAHAHA the stupidity amazes me.

I will be front row and standing..not a douchebag pusher jerk off with a sense of entitlement. Look on ebay which tickets are going for More for Radiohead..ga? Nope, guess again...lower row lowers..

Posted by Anonymous | May 29, 2012 12:54 PM

12:49 in terms of sound you couldn't be further off...best sound is by the soundboard...do you go to concerts???

Posted by Anonymous | May 29, 2012 12:56 PM

I go to concerts. Probably more than you and at large arena shows the best sound is up close. Not by the soundboard at all. You are wrong.

And 12:54 is wrong as well. There are very few floor seats available now. You know why? Cause they were the ones that went quickest on there you dumb piece of shit.

Posted by Anonymous | May 29, 2012 1:05 PM

"not a douchebag pusher jerk off with a sense of entitlement."

Suck it, bitch.

Posted by Anonymous | May 29, 2012 1:07 PM

^10 tickets ga on ebay now...99 cent starting bid..NO BIDS!

Posted by Anonymous | May 29, 2012 1:08 PM

BTW 1:05 I am approaching my 900th concert soon. Have a list and have been going to about 50 a year since 1995...so tell me about good sound once more.

Posted by Anonymous | May 29, 2012 1:08 PM

Good sound upfront? You got to be kidding..near the monitors is unbalanced...best sound by soundboard.

Posted by Anonymous | May 29, 2012 1:11 PM

"about 50 a year since 1995"

lightweight

Posted by Anonymous | May 29, 2012 1:12 PM

^and how many sir have you gone to?

Posted by Anonymous | May 29, 2012 1:13 PM

well at least three a week for the past five or six years, but have been going to shows weekly since late 90s

Posted by Anonymous | May 29, 2012 1:19 PM

^I hope you live next to Bowery or something

Posted by Anonymous | May 29, 2012 1:21 PM

Lol i know 900 shows since 1995. HAHAHAHA, oooh i am in awe.

And no, best sound AT LARGE ARENA SHOWS are upfront.

Posted by Anonymous | May 29, 2012 1:22 PM

The Walkmen are shit, fuck you.

Posted by Anonymous | May 29, 2012 1:23 PM

^wow you don't get it..loudest sound may be up front...loud does not equal good!

Posted by Anonymous | May 29, 2012 1:23 PM

It would stand to reason then that everyone tries to get tickets right by the soundboard in the back for these types of shows.

Oops logic fail.

Posted by Anonymous | May 29, 2012 1:24 PM

Fucking trust fund posers arguing about a band of trust fund posers (who are bloated and self important) playing a basketball arena.

I'll see you guys in the 21st century, when you arrive.

Posted by Anonymous | May 29, 2012 1:24 PM

1:24 your logic is flawed...some people care about being close for interaction with the band..some like better sound..MOST THOUGH rather be close then get the best sound

Posted by Anonymous | May 29, 2012 1:25 PM

1:24 I avoid the floor..that much I know!

Posted by Anonymous | May 29, 2012 1:26 PM

1:24 (2) I REPEAT RADIOHEAD IS NOT PLAYING A BASKETBALL ARENA?! WHAT BASKETBALL TEAM PLAYS THERE???? ;)

Posted by Anonymous | May 29, 2012 1:27 PM

Prudential Center
165 Mulberry Street, Newark, New Jersey 07102

Opened in 2007, it is the home of the National Hockey League's (NHL) New Jersey Devils and the NCAA's Seton Hall Pirates men's basketball team. It is also the temporary home of the Women's National Basketball Association's (WNBA) New York Liberty during the renovation of Madison Square Garden. The arena seats 17,625 patrons for hockey and 18,711 for basketball.

Additionally, it was built for and was the home to the New Jersey Nets.

So, 1:27 etc. - SHUT THE FUCK UP ABOUT SHIT YOU KNOW NOTHING ABOUT

BITCH

Though they were almost always narcissistic and pointless, the comments on this blog were once occasionally forgivable for being amusing, if not outright clever. This is the first time I've read through the comment section in a while, and am sad to see things have regressed to Beavis and Butthead territory. Who are funny in their own way of course, because they aren't pretending to represent the vanguard in musical culture like some of the middle schoolers making pee-pee jokes around here. That's cool though... Things change. Guess I'll just cram some hummus up my asshole, shed a tear for days gone by, and attempt to grow a penis/vagina.
