#Guitarmy w Tom morello leaving the park (via)
May Day

"The Occupy movement that mobilized thousands of protestors last fall was mostly quiet through the winter in New York, as both the cold and the NYPD chased demonstrators out of their makeshift camp in Zuccotti Park. But the movement officially relaunched on May 1st in honor of International Workers' Day, with organized protests taking place throughout the U.S. and with Tom Morello, Das Racist and other musicians staging a May Day concert in downtown Manhattan.

"I traveled 3,000 miles to march with you today," Morello told a diverse crowd of Occupiers during a ceremonial "mic check" in Bryant Park. "It is an honor to march these streets with you, to sing these songs with you, letting the powers that be know that we will be heard."

Morello led a "guitarmy" of hundreds along Fifth Avenue from Bryant Park down to Union Square. An Occupy Tumblr had already supplied the setlist - including Woody Guthrie's "This Land Is Your Land" and tunes from Morello's own World Wide Rebel Songs LP - and many had cheat sheets taped to the sides of their guitars, as they strummed and sang protest songs along with the rocker. As the band of marches inched its way into Union Square, a much larger rally commenced featuring Das Racist, Dan Deacon, and Immortal Technique on stage...." [Rolling Stone]

Tom Morello is as big a con man as anyone working on Wall St.

Posted by Anonymous | May 2, 2012 11:18 AM

I agree with all the above, except for the part that Morello is a con man. Why is he a con man? Because he was in a band that made a lot of money, while he supports lefty causes? Please explain.

Posted by Anonymous | May 2, 2012 11:23 AM

Rage was as corporate as they come!

Posted by Anonymous | May 2, 2012 11:27 AM

^ agreed. But to say that Morello is as big a con man as Wall Streeters, is a little extreme. Rage never duped anyone into paying to see them live or buy their records. People willingly gave them their money.

Posted by Anonymous | May 2, 2012 11:30 AM

11:23 Yeah because he preaches/preached radical separatist politics, while working for Sony and doing handling his career an business in an absolute mainstream way makes him a total phony. And the fact that he is using those politics to get over on a bunch of naive idealistic kids makes him a con man.

Posted by Anonymous | May 2, 2012 11:33 AM

Con-man is an inappropriate descriptive label for Tom Morello and other entertainers such as Michael Moore, Susan Sarandon, etc. The correct label is hypocrite. Morello's net worth is estimated at $60,000,000. Many of these extremely wealthy celebrities are aligning themselves with Occupy because they know that under Marxist communism, they would have the most to lose. Lenin described them as bourgeois socialists. Most Occupiers have never read Marx and Lenin critically. All they know is what their community college or state-school associate professors told them.

Posted by Anonymous | May 2, 2012 11:39 AM

^what they KNOW is that their consumer base is idealistic and young. $$$

Posted by Anonymous | May 2, 2012 11:42 AM

11:30 true..I guess the label Phony works then too!

Posted by Anonymous | May 2, 2012 11:43 AM

HOLY FUCK THERE ARE RICH PEOPLE WITH LEFTIST BELIEFS BUT IF STALIN WERE IN POWER TOMORROW THEY WOULDN'T BE RICH MY HEAD IS ABOUT TO EXPLODE TAKE ME BACK TO WESTCHESTER RIGHT NOW

Posted by Anonymous | May 2, 2012 11:47 AM

Point of order here ~~

To say that TM is a hypocrite for aligning himself with the OWS bunch is not really salient, since OWS lacks any discernible message, plan, or demand(s). OWS is just a bunch of white noise (yes, I meant that both ways) and TM is just getting face time / publicity. No hypocrisy in self promotion when you are an entertainer.

Posted by Anonymous | May 2, 2012 11:55 AM

1147 if he actually believed the shit he says he believes, he'd be doing something with his $60,000,000 other than trying to increase his net worth. limousine liberals aren't anything new. except he specifically makes money off your protests, since they fuel the mantra behind his music. it's obvious to me why he's at occupy.

11:55 we are saying TM is a hypocrite for aligning himself with SONY.

Posted by Anonymous | May 2, 2012 11:59 AM

^ I think that TM's actions are what you need to trust as who the person really is. Actions = SONY, Talk = OWS, ergo the hypocrisy is on the OWS side.

Posted by Anonymous | May 2, 2012 12:01 PM

^well put

Posted by Anonymous | May 2, 2012 12:03 PM

I remember when Tipsy Tom and RATM played some eastern European country and got booed and heckled by people who actually had to live through the communism that they claim they support. Anyone who preaches this red garbage and wears those tacky hammer and sickle or Che shirts or protests in these stupid marches should be forced to go live in a communist country. I'm sure their tune would change.

Posted by Anonymous | May 2, 2012 12:04 PM

TM puts the "Che" back into "Douchenozzle"

Posted by Anonymous | May 2, 2012 12:05 PM

12:04 is correct. Go ask the Cubans in Miami how great communism is.

Posted by Anonymous | May 2, 2012 12:06 PM

go ask anyone in any communist country how great communism is: it sucks.

only poor people want communism because it would be an upward move for them, hence this OWS bullshit.

Posted by Anonymous | May 2, 2012 12:10 PM

Ironic his initials are TM?! Like ticketmaster the #1 public enemy monopoly!

Posted by Anonymous | May 2, 2012 12:11 PM

Posted by Anonymous | May 2, 2012 12:13 PM

" Anyone who....... protests in these stupid marches should be forced to go live in a communist country. I'm sure their tune would change"

Ignorant thing to say.

Posted by Anonymous | May 2, 2012 12:15 PM

"go ask anyone in any communist country how great communism is: it sucks."

Yeah.. but go ask anyone in a socialist country how great socialism is and they will tell you that it's awesome. The top economies and happiest citizens all live in socialist form of gov't or what idiot American right-wingers would refer to as communist.

Posted by Anonymous | May 2, 2012 12:18 PM

^I'm neither, and I love Capitalism.

Posted by Anonymous | May 2, 2012 12:25 PM

@1210

I'm actually quite well off and I'm not in favor of a communist ideology, but I wholeheartedly support OWS because, among other things, they're shining a light on the corrupt and dysfunctional gov as well institutionalized corporate greed.

GSA, John Edwards, Secret Service? ring a bell?

Posted by Anonymous | May 2, 2012 12:36 PM

Posted by Anonymous | May 2, 2012 12:38 PM

12:18 (who is 12:19 also) = couldn't be further from the truth.

We are capitalists here in America. If you don't like capitalism, you should move to somewhere where they practice socialism or whatever you would prefer. As for bringing it here, over my cold dead body sonny boy.

Posted by Anonymous | May 2, 2012 12:41 PM

John Edward cheating on his wife dying of cancer is capitalistic because .... ?

You are entitled to your own opinion, but you are not entitled to your own "facts". Save that for Keith Olbermann.

The Secret Service stiffing hookers is capitalistic because .... ?

How many America do you see risking life and limb to float on a raft to Cuba?

Posted by Anonymous | May 2, 2012 12:46 PM

12:36 - point me to the URL that clearly and concisely states what OWS is about, ideally from the mouth/pen of the organizers.

a) don't lie and say that there are no organizers - you and I both know that is not true

b) "what OWS is about" needs to be consistent and agreed to by all, and needs to include an action plan because if it is about awareness then yes we all know you are in our streets and parks to the multimillion dollar bill (to clean, to prevent disorder violence and destruction) that WE are paying for.

Posted by Anonymous | May 2, 2012 12:48 PM

apparently, the revolution WILL be televised. fail, again.

Posted by Anonymous | May 2, 2012 12:48 PM

@12:36

OWS had nothing to do with exposing the GSA, John Edwards, or Secret Service scandals.

As far as I'm concerned, the only good thing OWS has ever done is set up a free Dan Deacon/Das Racist concert.

Posted by Anonymous | May 2, 2012 12:50 PM

I agree there needs to be change. First step occurs on November 6 2012.

If you want to prevent institutional corruption, vote our the inept and destructive from the government, starting with the office of Chief Executive. If you disagree, you do not really want change, you just want to "be heard", and you can go home to mommy and daddy for that.

Posted by Anonymous | May 2, 2012 12:51 PM

LOL 12:18/12:19 totally outnumbered here.
Remember last year, when the reaction was not as striking? Remember the "wait and see" stance that many of us adopted? Well, not any more! Consider it seen, and judged.

Why is so much money being spent on OWS to try to contain and control OWS? I guess Bloomberg and his cronies are scared shitless of a movement like this getting bigger otherwise why bother?

Posted by Anonymous | May 2, 2012 12:56 PM

^ or maybe we all see the violence and destruction that has come to the organized OWS bullshit in California, etc? Oh, but that would not align with your self-important ideology :-(

Posted by Anonymous | May 2, 2012 1:02 PM

^maybe OWS are a nuisance that disrupt retail business, transportation, public services , public health etc?

Posted by Anonymous | May 2, 2012 1:03 PM

Please, please tell me a single thing that OWS has accomplished. And 'raising awareness' doesn't count; people have been aware of socioeconomic inequality for decades. What we need is a way to change it; OWS seems as clueless about how to achieve this as anyone else. They just like to point and scream.

Posted by Anonymous | May 2, 2012 1:04 PM

12:56...Because if you don't contain and control it the savages will run wild. No one in power is scared that this "movement" will create change. The dregs it attracts are the lowest element of society. They're simply concerned that it will get out of control and we'll have more cases of idiots ruining the lives of everyday hardworking Americans...kinda like the 6 OWS activists plotting to blow up a bridge. If you don't control it that element will rise to the surface and who really wants that?

Posted by Anonymous | May 2, 2012 1:05 PM

POWER TO THE PEOPLE

Posted by Anonymous | May 2, 2012 1:05 PM

1256 because these are anarchists who are one riot/attack plan away from becoming domestic terrorists (see the OWS cleveland bridge bombers). god bless the nypd for having the patience to put up with this self-entitled stupidity.

they should all be in jail for disturbing the peace; they make it harder for the 99% to live their lives.

Posted by Anonymous | May 2, 2012 1:06 PM

"And the only people who will tell you that they love capitalism are spoiled wealthy underachievers and brainwashed fox news pawns."

"If you don't like capitalism, you should move to somewhere where they practice socialism or whatever you would prefer."

What's difficult to understand about capitalists being concerned with the faults of capitalism? Economic systems are run by people which inherently makes them faulty. How about legislating the banks that curbs illegal and unethical banking practices and continuing on with capitalism? That's worked for our country in the past.

it's a bunch of college kids that never grew up, coupled with a bunch of actual college kids.

sorry you couldn't live in your 5-bedroom house on your teacher's salary; should've thought of that before majoring in arts & crafts. not everyone deserves to be wealthy; wealth is relative. it always will be.

Posted by Anonymous | May 2, 2012 1:08 PM

GSA, SS, J Edwards are all very recent news examples of corruption
on one level or another. The point is that it is inbred and it affects everyone. SS thinking they do whatever, Edwards a Prez candidate on trial for funneling money to his white trash ho, GSA spending TAX dollars on lavish parties, etc, etc.

Posted by Anonymous | May 2, 2012 1:12 PM

the fact of the matter is, when it comes time to put up or shut up, ows goes silent. in terms of actual deliverables, they've produced nothing and imo, have effected no change.

Posted by Anonymous | May 2, 2012 1:23 PM

I see these OWS hippies in a couple coffee houses around Park Slope. They sit and "plan" over expensive espresso drinks during hours that working Americans work on the job. Every time I see one I make sure do one of the following within close (audible) proximity of them:
(a) fart;
(b) belch, with the upward inflection at the end to underscore that it is voluntary;
(c) sneeze without covering my mouth, face pointing towards them, with a polite smile at the end;
(d) mumble, loudly, like the guy at the end of "You Know My Name (Look Up The Number)";
or (e) with the laptop volume dimed and my earbuds in my ears but not plugged into the laptop, stream a YouTube clip of a black comedian (Robin Harris works the best), laughing uproariously at the most juicy parts.

The looks of horror and disgust is almost as fulfilling as planting a tree.

Posted by Anonymous | May 2, 2012 1:35 PM

1:35...You should add to that list going up to them and asking if you could be a part of their movement. Desperate for people they'll offer you a seat. Sit there and let them go through their plans with great detail as to how they're gonna "stick it to the man" and how they're little movement is gonna "smash the system". Once they're done filling you in just stare off into space for a few seconds before saying, "What was that? I was thinking of something interesting." Then casually get up and walk away...maybe add a fart in on the way out if you can.

I love how these anti-OWS tools think that change means electing Romney President. Hey, we've got very complicated international affairs situation, stagnant economy, LARGEST WEALTH GAP in history, lowest tax rate in modern history- let's elect Richie Rich Romney... that will take care of the problems! Brilliant!

In all seriousness, I can't even fathom how anyone would prefer a Romney administration to an Obama administration unless you are a member of the top 1% wealthiest.

Posted by Anonymous | May 2, 2012 2:22 PM

^ hey anti-capitalist douchebag, what am I thinking now? Nope, try again. No, wrong a second time. Wow, you really don't know what I'm thinking, do you? Well then why don't you STFU about shit you have no idea about and worry about articulating your own message, which last time I checked needs some DESPERATE articulating. Like for instance, how is that economic recovery that our current self-viewed overlords told us had arrived a few months ago?

Posted by Anonymous | May 2, 2012 2:53 PM

@222 well that would be 'change' in the normative sense. not qualitatively good change, but change nonetheless.

honestly, the gap is that way because of how the economy works. it's easier to make money when you have money. that sucks, but there is absolutely nothing you will ever be able to do to change that.

that, coupled with the concept of inter-generational wealth, is why the wealth gap is so large. and if you tell me that you cannot break the wealth gap, i will respond by citing countless examples and adding that you are a moron. mark zuckerburg and his whole crew jumped the gap without a college degree. so did the inventors of countless other programs, apps, etc. it is not the government/nation's fault that you - in all honesty - are not special, and most likely do not deserve to jump that gap between middle-class and wealthy.

you should just be happy that you are a middle-class american, rather than a middle-class citizen in any other nation.

Just because you think that a fascist regime will benefit Germany does not mean that it is the best for Germany, or the world. The same applies for the calls for socialism in America. You want to be a Nazi, go find somewhere where the populous likes Naziism. Not here, not ever.

Posted by Anonymous | May 3, 2012 11:38 AM

Anyone who compares universal healthcare and multi millionaires paying a few more % points in taxes to Nazi-ism is too stupid to have a grown up conversation.

If you were consistent, you would call Nixon, Reagan, Eisenhour, etc. communist Marxist Nazi socialists if they were around today.

Posted by Anonymous | May 3, 2012 11:40 AM

There is a definite aim to the occupy movement. It's just mainstream media doesn't cover it because they are scared to let the message circulate... Because then it will grow and put them at risk of losing control.

Posted by Anonymous | May 3, 2012 11:44 AM

11:44 - oh, so you said so, so I guess that settles it! Fool.

And the Naziism analogy is apt, since this bullshit is not about "fairness" or whatever you spin it as - it's about universal socialism, the rewarding of croanie insiders and dead weight at the expense of some scapegoat group (e.g. our high performers), arbitrarily labeled as "1%". There is no room for alternative explanations in your worldview, which is fascism. Happy to have an adult conversation about this but in my experience true OWS supporters by and large are not adult emotionally or spiritually, preferring to just stay within their own cocoon. Like you, sir.

Posted by Anonymous | May 3, 2012 12:15 PM

^---- yeah you keep believing that if it lets you sleep at night and maintain your smug sense of superiority.

It's a fact that we have the largest wealth gap in history. The top earners (multi millionaires) have seen exponential earnings increases, while the rest of us have remained flat. If attempts to correct are socialism, then so be it. American "Capitalism" (as idiots like you refer to it) has obviously been a dismal failure and is only making things worse. You can either progress to a more socialist system that benefits the country, or you can keep riding this out until we can't take it anymore and have nothing to lose- probably wouldn't be as nice a situation as paying a little bit more in taxes.

Posted by Anonymous | May 3, 2012 12:25 PM

And I love the term "our high performers". Hilarious! I know a lot of these "high performers". Most of them travel a lot on their parents money, do a lot of drugs, buy a lot of clothes, go out every night, get an education paid for by their parents, free rent, job waiting for them as a result of their connections- yeah, real "high performers."

Now just because someone thinks the very wealthy should pay a little more in taxes, does not mean they have anything against "success". This is a common straw man argument from right wing nut jobs. Progressives don't have a problem with success, we just don't think that raising a bit more in tax revenue is going to prevent people from wanting to be successful. Everyone has to sacrifice during tough times... not just the poor and sick or children.

Posted by Anonymous | May 3, 2012 12:30 PM

Dude 12:25/12:30 - you need to grow up and face the facts that you do not represent any 99%, and that the public has seen through your sham agenda. Go organize cats, fool!

Posted by Anonymous | May 3, 2012 12:33 PM

Fact, facts facts ....

The top 10 percent of income earners paid 71 percent of all federal income taxes in 2009 though they earned 43 percent of all income.

The bottom 50 percent paid 2 percent of income taxes but earned 13 percent of total income.

About half of tax filers paid no federal income tax at all

Posted by Anonymous | May 3, 2012 12:34 PM

A little bit more than 71% = fair? When does it end?
We will not subsidize your "right" to sit around coffee shops fomenting unrest while the rest of us work.

Posted by Anonymous | May 3, 2012 12:36 PM

if you don't like capitalism you should go somewhere where the economic system is not capitalism. in america, it is. and it will be, past when you or i will be living. get used to it.

Posted by Anonymous | May 3, 2012 12:39 PM

They make more money! That's why they pay more in overall % of taxes! It's math!

Many of the poor do not pay federal taxes... because they would not be able to survive if they did. They play plenty of taxes in other forms... it just would be loose change to a rich person though. To the poor, even sales tax is a significant % of their income.

your argument that it's not fair for multi millionaires to pay the majority in tax revenue is evil, stupid, spoiled, anti-american... and just plain misguided.

Posted by Anonymous | May 3, 2012 12:44 PM

"if you don't like capitalism you should go somewhere where the economic system is not capitalism"

You mean like where they take care of their fellow citizens? Where they have better education, happier citizens, healthier citizens? I wish I could!

You are a troll. Only a troll would make comments like yours. Either that, or you really live in a republican fox news bubble, were raised to be a spoiled brat, and have no clue about reality.

Posted by Anonymous | May 3, 2012 12:47 PM

12:47 - you really do not like living in America, do you? You do not like America. So, yeah, go someplace that you like and be happy. Leave us "mean" people alone to "struggle" ha ha.

I just want you to be happy.

Posted by Anonymous | May 3, 2012 1:02 PM

"They make more money! That's why they pay more in overall % of taxes! It's math!"

No, math is that they make more so they pay more gross. Paying a higher rate is Socialism, which is philosophical not scientific.

Asshole.

Yes, it is indeed hard to fathom how anyone would prefer Romney to Obama. I mean look at the economy and unemployment since Obama took over, fucking gangbusters on both counts! Guy is a wiz.

Posted by Anonymous | May 3, 2012 1:14 PM

Romney is completely preferable over the man-child Obama, who continues to fuck up the economy with his inaction or outright sabotage, his feckless and evil Department Of Justice, his embarrassing "embrace" of the Muslim Brotherhood and dismissal of our historic and eternal ally Israel, his croanie hard ball intervention in private business, and outright misinformation concerning everything from his dating life growing up to our national resources. Obama is a criminal and fool, and the MAJORITY OF AMERICA will be dancing in the streets. Don't believe me? Watch the DJI.

Posted by Anonymous | May 3, 2012 1:26 PM

1:14 - LOL great post. I missed the irony at first.

Posted by Anonymous | May 3, 2012 1:35 PM

I wonder what Captain Asshat would say about this thread?

Posted by Anonymous | May 3, 2012 1:37 PM

"Romney is completely preferable over the man-child Obama, who continues to fuck up the economy with his inaction or outright sabotage, his feckless and evil Department Of Justice, his embarrassing "embrace" of the Muslim Brotherhood and dismissal of our historic and eternal ally Israel, his croanie hard ball intervention in private business, and outright misinformation concerning everything from his dating life growing up to our national resources. And there it is folks... the typical American point of view (50% of Americans... wow!) as filtered through fox News and your average American Large intestine.

And, no, thing have not improved under Obama. But how can he be blamed when the other side fights tooth and nail over everything including the most insignificant things. If many Obama policies had actually been given a chance to work, yes, there would have been significant economic improvement. What we do know is that the Bush, Romney trickle-down bullshit does not (for a fact) work. You can only say that progressive policies wouldn't help in theory because they have NEVER been tried.

Posted by Anonymous | May 3, 2012 2:23 PM

^ and here we have the inevitable end to all crazy-eyes liberal arguments .... "I know you are but what am I". You know what? You can try to disparage those who disagree with your (like a good leftie, like Fidel and Hugo and Vladamir before you), but the vast majority of this country see right through your disguise.

Dude, really, you are embarrassing yourself. OK, we get it, you would rather be a citizen of Sweden but you lack the energy to disrupt your sedentary lifestyle.

Let me ask you one question - last year, how much of your money did you give/donate/release to the hungry, the poor, the infirmed, the hospitalized, the marginalized, the incarcerated? Should be easy to find, as it would be the total line from your Schedule A on your Federal Tax Return. Also, what percentage of your Adjusted Gross Income was that value? Until you report that, publicly, here and now, don't try to lecture me about how the any system is unfair or about all the starving people. If you don't help them now, personally, you will find a way around it later. Just like Apple does around it's tax obligations, and Warren Buffet does around his.

Posted by Anonymous | May 3, 2012 3:37 PM

We don't need to change anything except for those who have spent more than 2 terms within an elected office of the federal, state or local government. The core economic and government systems of the United States are the greatest, fairest, and most praiseworthy of all man-made systems devised or witnessed in human history. And, there is a mechanism for action if you do not like the direction or actions of the current occupants of the governmental structure. I am planning to exorcize my rights in this way come November. All this talk of broken systems and fundamental change is crazy talk be people that don't want to contribute as an equal member of our society, plain and simple.

Posted by Anonymous | May 3, 2012 3:45 PM

^^^ I am planning to exercise my rights, not exorcize them :-) sorry, typo

Posted by Anonymous | May 3, 2012 3:47 PM

conservatives are a joke...

If Obama wasn't such a hardass on "terror" and "crime", wingnuts would be calling him "soft". Instead, they complain about him being overbearing (which he is... but certainly not by typical right wing standards).

Those idiots have been trying to scare us with using 9/11 for fear mongering for over a decade. The rare occasion that Obama touts his stellar record on terrorism war... they start with the fake outrage routine. Americans who are grounded in reality (unfortunately, less than half of the country) are sick of all of this shit.

Posted by Anonymous | May 3, 2012 3:59 PM

3:59 - you are so deluded that I don't think my line by line refute of your misinformation would even make a difference. You are clearly beyond the capacity for analyzing situations based on facts. You are one of the followers, part of the mind washed mass, part of the problem. There are facts which directly contradict your lies, but you have not posted your total charitable contributions so your assertions have no merit anyway. B'bye!

Posted by Anonymous | May 3, 2012 4:06 PM

3:59 = Captain Asshat

Posted by Anonymous | May 3, 2012 5:05 PM

I don't understand why "occupiers" need to provoke and antagonize cops? How is that gonna help slow the income inequality in this country? How is marching, bitching and moaning gonna help that cause? How wouldn't working and organizing people, who probably feel the same way as you, not help? I realize this is inspired by the Arab spring in the middle east but last I checked this is not there. This is here. You're just making fools of yourselves and not doing anything but wasting some taxpayer dough on extra cops. Really sticking it to the rich there guys.

Posted by Anonymous | May 3, 2012 11:30 PM

The occupy movement stands against the deteriorion of our rights...
And OBAMA signed the NDAA act which allows the federal government to now hold US citizens indefinetely without any legal council?

This country is actually slowing turning communist.

Educate yourselves people.

Posted by Anonymous | May 4, 2012 2:14 AM

I HAVE READ EVERY COMMENT CLOSELY IN THIS THREAD, AND THE AMAZING PART ABOUT IT IS HOW BLIND ALL OF YOU ARE. ONE PERSON FIGHTS FOR THE LEFT, AND ANOTHER FIGHTS FOR THE RIGHT, YET BOTH SIDES ARE THE SAME AND NEITHER PARTY WILL BRING ABOUT ANY REAL CHANGE.
NEITHER ROMNEY NOR OBAMA EVEN DISCUSS THE REAL ISSUES WHICH ARE CAUSING WORLDWIDE HAVOC.
THE MILITARY INDUSTRIAL COMPLEX... THE PHARMACEUTICAL PROPAGANDA...
THE CONSTANT STRIPPING AWAY OF OUR BASIC FREEDOMS AND CINSTITUTION...

ITS SHOCKS ME HOW MANY SHEEPLE THERE ARE WHO LISTEN TO MEDIA SOURCES TO GAIN THEIR OPINIONS.

Open your eyes, get educated.

Posted by Anonymous | May 4, 2012 2:24 AM

The only real hope for real change is in Rand Paul in 2016.

The next four years is gonna be nothing but the same old politics of lies and pandering to the lobbyists and big banks. If you think otherwise, your obviously a fool.

Support the occupy movement, and stop reading the new York post and watching CNN as they spread falsehoods about what the occupy movement is about.

The message is clear... And as Americans we have a RIGHT to protest and let our voices be heard. God bless America for that.

Posted by Anonymous | May 4, 2012 2:33 AM

2:14/2:24/2:33 - I've attended OWS events. I have talked with occupiers, and have listened to the mouthpieces, and I can report without doubt or irony that the OWS "movement" lacks any coherent or global message whatsoever. You've got basically 4 major groups involved - radical left organizers / anti-capitalists; people bringing their own pet agenda (animal rights, Ron Paul, etc.); big labor (thugs); and college kids looking for an experience. I don't need the Post or CNN to tell me what I saw and heard and experienced. It just so happens that the actual situation is far more wasteful and pointless than those and other news sources make them out to be.

We are literally days away from the national debt passing our ability to pay it back. What we need right now is a set of policies that will reverse that trajectory, or else we will not make it to 2016. We need to do what is necessary to simultaneously invigorate the economy, shrink the size of the government at all levels, and to make the tax system truly fair. There are many other smaller issues that we will need to deal with, but without immediate relief from the geometrically increasing debt, we will be completely China's bitch within the next 4 years.

Let me say it again - the OWS movement does not have the answers for what the country really needs, they just have an ideological agenda and a desire to fuck shit up. ergo, a waste of energy and time. It's time all of you protestors got back to life - work at a job, and contribute in your small ways like the rest of us.

Posted by Anonymous | May 4, 2012 8:26 AM

@826

Wrong. OWS has a very clear message: you either accept being ruled by an oligarchy, or more definitively a plutocracy, or you don't and exercise your right to push back.

If OWS is as marginal and irrelevant as you make it out to be, then why does Bloomberg and his cronies have this big freakout and send in the goon squad, ie the police, every OWS shows up on the street?

Posted by Anonymous | May 4, 2012 10:17 AM

10:17 - You are wrong. I've seen it, I've heard it, I've been there. You are either misinformed or just a plain liar. I will ask it again - post the proof (URLs, documented reputable polling data, etc.) that *any* message from *any* of the 4 major constituent groups comprising OWS is understood and agreed to by the other constituent groups, including clearly stated goals *with* actions on how to achieve the goals. Until you do this, you are just static on the internet.

OWS is not a "movement" at all, as claimed by them - it is a desperate attempt by radical left wing causes to remain relevent within the wave of anti-Obama / anti-entitlement feeling rising rapidly across the populous. We will not be strong armed into bending to any nonsense inflicted by some fringe group of rapists, drug addicts and idle "intellectuals".

Posted by Anonymous | May 4, 2012 10:40 AM

I don't know where you've been living 10:17, but the current president is ruling us as an oligarch now. If you want change from this, you should be spending your energy to prevent him from continuing on this destructive path. Do you agree with this 10:17?

Posted by Anonymous | May 4, 2012 10:43 AM

"If you go carrying pictures of Chairman Mao
You ain't gonna make it with anyone, anyhow"

Posted by Anonymous | May 4, 2012 10:44 AM

It's still the economy, stupid (3:59)

Posted by Anonymous | May 4, 2012 10:52 AM

1043

Never said I was for BO, did I? exactly my point though- it's not an issue of left or right. As I see it it's an issue of a massive systemic failure within our system.

An example of that would be the Lockheed Martin F-22 fighter jet: Cost $400 billion, wasn't needed, doesn't work and is constantly in the shop. And US pilots are refusing to fly it due oxygen cutoff.

Posted by Anonymous | May 4, 2012 11:00 AM

"proof (URLs, documented reputable polling data, etc.) that *any* message from *any* of the 4 major constituent groups comprising OWS is understood and agreed to by the other constituent groups, including clearly stated goals *with* actions on how to achieve the goals."

.... crickets ..... crickets .....

Posted by Anonymous | May 4, 2012 11:07 AM

Is Rachel Corrie still dead?

Posted by Anonymous | May 4, 2012 11:27 AM

11:00 - perspective .... would you cut off your foot if you got a hangnail? Of course not. So, go do something about bringing awareness around the F-22, and know that the truth is really somewhere between your investigation and budgetary malfeasance. We need a new generation of fighter jets - you may not know, but the vast majority of our fleet is over 25 years old, many much older than that. The cost of maintenance and potential critical failures far outweigh the cost of this new model. Once again, perspective ... it comes with a true objective desire to unearth the truth, not from an agenda driven desire to just upend the apple cart so long as it isn't controlled by you (yes, we have seen - over and over again - how that motivation gets reversed PDQ when the agitators get into power. then, any dissent is crushed mercilessly, and we see human rights abuses such as in Somalia, Iran, China, Cuba, etc. etc.)

Posted by Anonymous | May 4, 2012 11:37 AM

Claiming that because there is a wasteful defense project means that our entire way of life is wrong is like needing a haircut and deciding that the only solution is to commit suicide. In both cases, there is a fundamental problem with the participant being able to accurately assess and judge facts objectively.

Posted by Anonymous | May 4, 2012 11:45 AM

Big Business owns you.

The military industrial complex is HUGE.

Posted by Anonymous | May 4, 2012 11:53 AM

1100

We may, or may not, need an jet upgrade. F-22 is just one example of massive waste- the list just goes on and on and on. Gov / Corp malfeasance, corruption, cronyism, waste- those at issues at hand on all levels.

Posted by Anonymous | May 4, 2012 12:12 PM

^ The current US Federal Government is much much bigger than the military industrial complex. Perspective, young one. I do want to encourage your desire to fight for what is right, to fight against injustice, but you need to stop thinking like this is checkers when this is chess, being played by people who you will only connect to actions if you follow the privileges, the kickbacks, the laws and the money. One answer is enact term limits to cut down on institutional corruption. That one, along with the balanced budget amendment, will do so much toward the waste problems.

Posted by Anonymous | May 4, 2012 12:13 PM

^ meant to respond to 1137.

Posted by Anonymous | May 4, 2012 12:13 PM

Simple facts
- Businesses cannot print money, the Federal Government can.
- Businesses cannot write laws to control people, commerce or the use deadly force, the Federal Government can.
- Businesses cannot enforce laws to control people, commerce or the use of armed forces, the Federal Government can.
- Businesses compel you to speak, act or use your property in a certain way, the Federal Government can.

Know the facts. Fight the real source of corruption.

Posted by Anonymous | May 4, 2012 12:20 PM

^^ last one should be
- Businesses *cannot* compel you ...

Posted by Anonymous | May 4, 2012 12:21 PM

^ But business does buy all the things 12:20 states.
Its just done behind closed doors.

Posted by Anonymous | May 4, 2012 12:32 PM

1220

Wrong again! LOL-- What do you think Corp ( BUSINESS) lobbyists do?

Posted by Anonymous | May 4, 2012 12:34 PM

^ 12:34 you are a fool. By your thinking, the Housing Development that George Zimmerman worked for was really to blame for Trayvon's death, and not the guy who pulled the trigger, because they were giving Zimmerman the charge to patrol and report.

Posted by Anonymous | May 4, 2012 12:50 PM

12:32 - classic liberal straw man
so your answer is to grow the government more now, is it? if i misrepresent, then do tell how you would enact your pollyanna goals?

" "proof (URLs, documented reputable polling data, etc.) that *any* message from *any* of the 4 major constituent groups comprising OWS is understood and agreed to by the other constituent groups, including clearly stated goals *with* actions on how to achieve the goals."

.... crickets ..... crickets ....."

Couldn't have said it better myself. Thanks, 11:07.

Posted by Anonymous | May 4, 2012 12:52 PM

You idiots are still arguing about this? This whole hot mess stopped being relevant last autumn. Moving on.

Posted by Anonymous | May 4, 2012 12:54 PM

So much bullshit being spewed I don't know where to begin. Some of you even spelled constitution wrong and Ron Paul but I won't discredit you you are probably typing from a phone like I am. Morello is a hypocrite but who ISN'T these days. Most ppl are including myself. That being said I like occupy wall street and love many of the ideas they encompass. If u think they have no real goal or MSG then u need to read more or just do a little more research. Many of the goals they want to reach are aligned w my goals an beliefs. I am an Anarchist and believe in taking public space and am tired of being ruled, taxed up the ass, this fake voting system plutocracy we live in etc. most of all I hate The Patriot act pills and sopA. I DONT think Anarchism would solve all the problems and i do not think it would work worldwide especially not here. Many Americans can't even get up to vote. I do believe it is pointless but many people I talk to say they don't. Are and are lazy and if you know anything about anarchism (if you think it's chaos or no rules you are GROSSLY misinformed) then you would know almost everything would have toget done by the people. Direct democracy, assemblies, cleaning and fixing roads, policing each other of there is no police force etc. I am not a Marxist. I believe I am a anarcho capitalist so not only am I hated by most of you here but at these protests these Che communist wearing fanatics bash me f
