RIP Maurice Sendak

The Beach Boys, who play their first of two Beacon Theater shows tonight, appeared on Fallon last night for three songs, including the Brian Wilson-penned classics, "In My Room" and "Wouldn't It Be Nice" in addition to their new single, "That's Why God Made The Radio," off the upcoming album of the same name. They were also interviewed by Fallon. Videos of the interview and performances are below.

Chairlift. Doors at 7pm, 2 openers, probably on stage around 9pm?

Posted by CJ | May 8, 2012 4:20 PM

do they have room for the oxygen tanks on stage?

Posted by Anonymous | May 8, 2012 4:23 PM

Florence set times anyone?

Posted by Anonymous | May 8, 2012 4:27 PM

These Beach Boy shows will be epic. Average set lists have been over forty songs, lasting well over two hours. Let's see what you are up to when you are in yr 70's.

Oh, that's right - this is a thread about 12:00's schedule and musical tastes.

Back on planet Earth, did anyone actually see the Beach Boys last night? Thoughts, setlist, etc?

So, everyone is all like "Beach Boys, fucking EPIC!!!1!!!" but no one went to the show last night? No feedback?

Posted by Anonymous | May 9, 2012 2:15 PM

I was actually at the Beach Boys show last night. It was OK I guess. The show sounded great, but from my vantage point in the upper balcony it was hard to tell if it was the Beach Boys themselves sounding so good or if it was the 12 or so other musicians and vocalists on stage fleshing out the harmonies and music. I'm pretty sure there were 6 people playing guitar at one point, and at least 4 piano/keyboards were on stage.

That being said, they play just about every song you could ask for in a setlist that had to be over 40 songs running from shortly after 8pm until 11:00 (with a 20 minute intermission).

Negatives: John Stamos actually is on stage for way too much of this show. No need for his bullshit gimmick at this stage. Also no need for them to be playing Kokomo either. Brian Wilson must die a little bit inside each night as Uncle Jesse sits on stage playing the congas during Kokomo. What an embarrassing clusterfuck of shit that moment is.

However, it's hard to not enjoy a show that has Brian Wilson picking up the bass and joining the other surviving members of the Beach Boys for Barbara Ann. Moments like that are why these shows are worth it.
