The 2012 Afro-Punk Festival is returning to Brooklyn's Commodore Barry Park on August 25-26 at Commodore Berry Park in Brooklyn. The initial line-up includes Erykah Badu, Gym Class Heroes, Janelle Monae, Das Racist, Skindred, Toro Y Moi, Reggie Watts, Spank Rock, Ninjasonik, The Memorials, Bad Rabbits, Gordon Voidwell, The London Souls, Cerebral Ballzy, Phony People, and Body Language, with more to be announced. The Afropunk Festival is free and open to the public.

Additionally, the fest, now in its eighth year, will also feature "the largest street skate and BMX competition in NYC will return this year with the nation's top amateur skaters and BMX riders in a competition to be judged by top professionals in both sports." Last year's Afro-Punk Fest was cancelled due to Hurricane Irene. Let's hope for better weather this year.

More crap that has ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with YTIN.ASNIL. Why is this nonsense being posted here?

YTINA.SNIL is life.

Posted by Anonymous | June 8, 2012 3:49 PM

How much will they charge for a 16oz. Cup of grape soda. Will Kennedy Fried Chicken have a tent?

Don't care what this is but I'll take some free Badu shows.

weird, this never actually happened last year right?

Not sure if the London Souls will make this. I saw an article recently saying that the lead guitar/vox dude was injured very badly in a hit & run taxi accident a week or so ago. Really said, I hope he's ok. Those dudes are sick.

3:58 - Hey racist asshole...can you do us all a favor and jump in front of a bus. And for heavens sake take the YTIN.ASNIL fuckwad with you.

just looked into and i'd say there is little to no chance the london souls will be able to make that date...

UPDATE:

As many of you know Tash Neal was a victim of a hit and run taxi cab accident last week on Bleecker and Broadway in New York City. The cab he was in was struck by a BMW that was drag racing down Broadway. According to his doctor when he arrived at the hospital he was unresponsive and very close to death. They immediately performed brain surgery to treat a subdural hematoma. He survived the surgery and was in a medically induced coma for three days. The sedation was stopped on Saturday, and from that point Tash's progress has been nothing short of a miracle. He was immediately able to recognize family, and since then his speech and coordination have continued to improve. He has been moved from the ICU and will have to undergo intensive rehabilitation.

Tash would like to thank everyone for their prayers and support, and is anxious to return home. We would like to thank his doctors and nurses at Bellevue Hospital for saving his life, and taking such good care of him.

Thank you to all of his friends and fans for their continued prayers and support.

- Sean Neal

I am a fan of London Souls. I am genuinely sad to hear this news, but relieved that Tash is recovering quickly. BMW drag racing on Broadway and Bleeker? Can you say spoiled NYU fuck future hipster piece of human refuse?

Commodore Barry Park. DO NOT confuse this with Berry Park. You will be tremendously disappointed.

Posted by Anonymous | June 11, 2012 2:34 PM

Yo there are some truly ignorant people on this thread. Aside from the racist jibes, people claiming there is no punk on the bill clearly are not familiar with these bands.
