Alambama Shakes @ Central Park Summerstage
Alabama Shakes

Alabama Shakes, who opened for Jack White at Roseland in May and have since played Bonnaroo, headlined a "sold out" free show at Central Park Summerstage in NYC this afternoon, Sunday, June 24th. Did you make it in. If not, did you listen from outside? Here are some pictures from the show.

Already packed when opener Robert Ellis went on around 3pm, the show also included a pre-shakes set by Diamond Rugs who headlined their own show (their first-ever in NYC) at the Bell House in Brooklyn on Friday night (and who play Letterman on Monday). As you may know by now, Diamond Rugs features members of Deer Tick, Dead Confederate, and Steve Berlin from Los Lobos.

Other upcoming Alabama Shakes dates include a recently announced Lollapalooza aftershow. More pictures below...

Posted by Anonymous | June 25, 2012 12:49 AM

Free events bring out the biggest creeps NYC has to offer.

Posted by Anonymous | June 25, 2012 2:44 AM

get adopted by a squirrel

Posted by Anonymous | June 25, 2012 6:51 AM

Nothing like a fattie chick with a blue guitar. THAT is rock and troll.

Posted by strand of dna | June 25, 2012 7:33 AM

couldn't hear much inside either.

Posted by Anonymous | June 25, 2012 8:30 AM

Is anything authentic anymore.More fucking hipster shit

Posted by Anonymous | June 25, 2012 8:32 AM

Good show but I would have preferred to see the ipods -- a band with real diversity from track to track.

Posted by Anonymous | June 25, 2012 8:46 AM

This is soul music, why isn't the audience a bit more diverse? Ya know what I mean?

Posted by Anonymous | June 25, 2012 8:56 AM

before anyone writes "lol 8:46" I'll say:

LAMEST JOKE EVER

Posted by Anonymous | June 25, 2012 8:57 AM

It's really time* to make this require a log-in to make posts. The comment quality is sinking fast.

*It's about 2 years over-due.

Posted by Brian | June 25, 2012 9:04 AM

Does this look like fun to anyone? I mean, reeealllly??

Posted by Anonymous | June 25, 2012 9:17 AM

Posted by Anonymous | June 25, 2012 9:29 AM

Agreed with 9:04

Posted by Anonymous | June 25, 2012 10:16 AM

What about this is "Hipster shit" exactly? This ain't no fucking dum dum girls.

Posted by Anonymous | June 25, 2012 10:26 AM

10:27...maybe you should stay home and watch your entertainment on line...and leave room for those that enjoy the fellowship of music

Posted by Anonymous | June 25, 2012 10:41 AM

Not a single black person in the whole crowd...

Posted by Anonymous | June 25, 2012 10:43 AM

agreed with 9:04.....nothing wrong with being a critic but really? some people just bleed negativity

Posted by Anonymous | June 25, 2012 10:45 AM

8:46 made me laugh. Almost embarassed to admit it . . .

Posted by Anonymous | June 25, 2012 10:56 AM

"Well, lawdy-lou, that looks like a good 'ol aw shucks time a' southern rock and roll!"

The only thing missing is the rebel flag and a lynch mob.

Posted by Anonymous | June 25, 2012 11:21 AM

Count the number of photos with creepy old white dudes perving on young girls.

Posted by Anonymous | June 25, 2012 11:22 AM

They are not really even from Alabama I read

Posted by Anonymous | June 25, 2012 11:38 AM

It wasn't Alabama but I was out there shaking my moobs

Posted by Anonymous | June 25, 2012 12:07 PM

Where the fuck are the Beck and Modest Mouse pics?

Posted by Sam | June 25, 2012 12:53 PM

Sad I missed it, love the retro soul sound. Hope they don't get ruined like Joss Stone.

Posted by Anonymous | June 25, 2012 1:26 PM

Alabama shakes when she steps on stage.

Posted by Anonymous | June 25, 2012 2:30 PM

I'll guiltily admit this last loser (2:30) made me chuckle...

Posted by Anonymous | June 25, 2012 4:09 PM

I'm fairly certain that 4:09 has spent most of his life being called a loser ....

Posted by Anonymous | June 25, 2012 4:14 PM
