Baroness at Terminal 5 (more by Joe McCabe)

Baroness's Yellow & Green is on the way via Relapse Records (due on July 17th, preorder) and like every album before it, this ever-changing band is spreading their wings even further from previous output. While Red and Blue were not afraid to show their true melodic colors amidst the riffing, Yellow & Green proudly flaunts its melodies as the centerpoint, letting big guitars come when they may. I hear bits of Mogwai, Minus the Bear, and Pink Floyd along the way, while wholly acoustic songs and even post-punk all make pit stops in this journey. But don't worry, Baroness's distinct roar and dueling leads make their fair share of appearances. On occasion.

Check out an In-Studio episode with Baroness below to peek into the making of Yellow & Green and while you're down there, check out the new track "Take My Bones Away."

More trubbish (trash + rubbish) that has nothing to do with YTIN.ASNIL.

Sounds like complete shit. Get some real amps, boys. "Bad Cat" my ass. While you're at it go find some decent guitars. Those custom First Act guitars you helped "design" are fucking awful to look at and to hear. Leo Fender/Les Paul you are not.

1:49pm = unemployed

1:49 aka Asswipe - Bad Cat amps were designed by Mark Sampson. If you weren't a hipster know-it-all douchnozzle you would know that this is the guy who founded Matchless amps (and designed them as well), which are by any standard a tremendous line of amps that basically launched the boutique amp craze. So, next time you want to talk about shit you know nothing about, don't m'kay?

@3:08 (AKA LULZ) I actually did know that, "m'kay"? They're great for all the Dads and lawyers fantasizing about what could've been in their "man caves". You know, all those guys who fund the "boutique amp craze" (AKA "more money than talent" LULZ). You won't find them being used by any real musicians. Ever. Period.

Try harder though. You can't fail forever. Given a long enough timeline, probability's on your side.

"know nothing"

^ Oh, shit.

Posted by Anonymous | June 7, 2012 3:58 PM

hrmmm...i have seen Kurt Ballou of Converge, Josh Hommme, and John Paul Jones all use bad cat amplifiers. 1:49 sir...are an idiot.

Posted by sarj | June 7, 2012 6:07 PM

Matt Pike and Brent Hinds play said custom First Act guits as well.

shitty band is shitty regardless of guitars and amps.

Posted by Anonymous | June 8, 2012 9:46 AM

I like how 3:37 took a full half hour to come back with a witty, well thought out reply, that was, of course, completely, full of shit.

^ You better hurry, you're shift at the St. Vitus glory hole started 5 minutes ago. You don't want to go back in the cage again, now do you?

^ Didn't your shift already start? Sucking while texting?!? You multitasking fool, you!

Posted by 2:11 is the glory holes shining star! | June 8, 2012 3:29 PM

Yeah, you're so right 11:27 - today it was an hour and a half and the best this sloppy fuck could come up with is "I know you are but what am I". But he's not all bad - Bob Mould said in an interview that 3:29 had the softest chin he's ever rested his balls on. So, there's that.

Mr. Hipster-Know-It-All-Prick if you don't want to continue getting slapped around like a little bitch you should stop acting like one. Besides, you got a pile of dicks stacking up at the glory hole, and they ain't gonna suck themselves :)

LULZ @3:51 PM Sitting in front of his computer in his parents basement hitting the refresh button over and over again.

LULZ Doesn't have a substantive response.

LULZ "continue getting slapped around like a little bitch".

Posted by Anonymous | June 8, 2012 4:12 PM

@4:12 LOL "bid"

Posted by Anonymous | June 8, 2012 4:13 PM

YTIN.ASNIL approved.

Posted by Anonymous | June 8, 2012 5:53 PM

Baroness are the new Nickleback.

Posted by Anonymous | June 8, 2012 7:24 PM

3:08, 6:07, 7:44, 8:25, 11:27, 2:11 and 3:51 are all the same guy. he realized that he couldn't fake his way through pretending to know anything about amps (or guitars), so he resorted to multiple "anonymous" posts and "you're gay" after about a million "refresh" clicks (really, you should get a life). doesn't know much about music either, it seems. 1:52 is sooooooooo right, LOL.

3:51, go outside. if not for yourself then for your parents. it'll make them feel better. at least they'll think your doing SOMETHING other than sitting in front of the computer masturbating all day.

what's it feel like getting your ass handed to you this many times in one thread?

oh, and Bad Cat amps are still overpriced garbage. FYI

prove me wrong.

Not terribly impressed with this new stuff. I hated the production of Blue Record, especially the way the drums were mixed. I actually have no problem with Baroness moving away from metal and into rock, but Take My Boners Away is just a really uninspired song.

As for First Acts, I've played two models that I really like, but I sort've get this feeling that they're really fad-ish at the moment. It reminds me of the PRS craze 10 years ago when literally everyone in music put down their Gibsons and Fenders and got themselves a mass produced Paul Reed Smith, only to back to those Gibsons and Fenders a short while later.
