Dylan

Bob Dylan will be heading out on a European tour later this month into July, and he recently announced that he'll be returning to North America for a run of dates later this summer. That tour doesn't exactly come to NYC, but he'll be a few hours away when he plays Tag's Summer Stage on September 1 in Big Flats, NY. Tickets for most shows on the tour go on sale this Friday (6/22), though there's no on-sale date for the NY show yet. You can keep checking Tag's site for updates. All dates are listed below.

In other news, Bob Dylan fansite Isis Magazine is reporting that Dylan's 35th studio album is due out this September. They reportedly began recording the album in January at Groove Masters, the studio where Dylan recorded Together Through Life and Christmas In The Heart and it is said to have 10 tracks clocking in at 68 minutes with a "14-minute Titanic song" and a 9-minute song as well.

A list of all dates and some recent live videos below...

Still a legend, but seeing Dylan live these days is a complete waste of money. Do yourself a favour and stay in and listen "Bringing It All Back Home"

10:11--I have to disagree. I've seen Bob three times in the last 6-7 years and every show has been enjoyable. The bands are always top-notch, he's energetic, and the music sounds good. Enjoy what he's doing now vs. wishing it was an earlier time is my suggestion.

Dylan shows can still be fun, as long as you take it for what it now is and don't expect a 25 year old Dylan. He still has it in him though...watch the video of him singing at the White House dinner. He sounds great. Watching that video makes me think he does what he does now on purpose.

As has been said 10,000 times in this and other blogs, seeing Dylan is not a waste of time, but it's complete "hit" or "miss". He can be great one night and be totally useless the next night. There is no way of knowing when he will be "on." But if you happen to catch him when he is "on," he is still great.

Here is that Dylan video at the White House. I think it sounds beautiful.

10:19 likes his quotation marks.

73 years, 50+ as a performer.

Hot damn! I welcome this new album like I welcome breakfast.

New Morning is one of the best albums of the 70's.

Smell my love.

"New Morning is one of the best albums of the 70's."

I love Dylan and New Morning but that statement is just absurd! Not even in the top 100 albums of the 70's.

He was great at Jones Beach last summer. The crowd of fogeys, not so much.

I went to one of those Terminal 5 shows a couple years back and it was quite possibly the worst show I've ever seen. I seriously walked out.

He should open for the Black Keys, that would be sick!

absolutely one of the worst human beings on the planet. hasnt put out one good song in 30+ years, cant play guitar anymore, stumbles over lyrics, seriously probably suffering from alzheimers. we need to stop this endless recycled praise for a guy who has done so, so little for the music world.

Posted by Anonymous | June 19, 2012 10:52 AM

Hasn't put a good song out in 30 years? Have you heard Time Out of Mind or Modern Times?

Posted by Anonymous | June 19, 2012 11:09 AM

terminal 5 shows were great!

Posted by Anonymous | June 19, 2012 11:19 AM

10:30 is misinformed. New Morning rules.

Posted by Anonymous | June 19, 2012 11:38 AM

11:38 - Learn to read jackhole! I said I loved New Morning but it clearly IS NOT one of the best records of the 70's. If you think this album is one of the best albums of the 70's you are an idiot! It's not even Dylan's best album of the 70's...Desire and BotT both reign supreme over New Morning.

10:52 nailed it!

If you've ever seen Dylan when he's "on" you can attest that it is worth the wait of seeing him a dozen times when he is "off". When Dylan is "on", it is epic.

Yeah, you can also play those odds in Vegas, but I still wouldn't advise it.

Posted by Anonymous | June 19, 2012 12:39 PM

11:09 - yes. yes I have.

bob dylan used to bang mavis staples in pop's house

Posted by Anonymous | June 19, 2012 2:47 PM

If he's so great, how come he looks like Vincent Price?

Posted by Anonymous | June 19, 2012 4:06 PM

Vincent Price is great, looking like Vincent Price is great.

Posted by Anonymous | June 19, 2012 5:12 PM

Come on, 10:30. If you can name 100 better 70s albums I'll give you $100.
