Bob Welch

Nashville police are reporting that Bob Welch, former Fleetwood Mac guitarist and solo artist, died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. He was 65. Welch was in Fleetwood Mac from 1971 to 1974 and his exit made way for Lindsey Buckingham, shepherding in the band's hitmaking era.

But Welch went on to be a successful solo artist, scoring big hits with soft rock staples "Sentimental Lady" and "Ebony Eyes" in 1978. RIP, Bob.

Videos for both those hits are below.

He went his own way.

for whatever it's worth, w/o Welch as the bridge between the "old" Fleetwood Mac and the Buckingham/Nicks era, there may not have been a Fleetwood Mac for Buck/Nicks to join -

1:25-1:44 took a nap with her kids in the afternoon and was up late it seems.

The end of the Sentimental Lady video when he plays with the toy gun with a big smile on his face now seems incredibly eerie.

^ How sweet of you.

Posted by Anonymous | June 8, 2012 9:26 AM

RIP. Fleetwood was great. Tusk, even though post-Bob, reminds me of my new favorite band the iPods -- a band with real diversity from track to track. ;)

Posted by Anonymous | June 8, 2012 9:28 AM

Hey. New to the site. What is this Jeremy Lin stuff -- is it a joke or a real thing?

Posted by Anonymous | June 8, 2012 9:41 AM

YTIN.ASNIL isn't just a real thing, it's the ONLY real thing.

Posted by Anonymous | June 8, 2012 9:50 AM

Wrote some cool songs for Fleetwood Mac...very "of the times"...

Posted by Herb Tarlek | June 8, 2012 9:58 AM

I can't believe people are still so into Jeremy Lin in New York! Almost no coverage in Chicago, especially since the season ended. Why do you guys spell it weird?

Posted by Anonymous | June 8, 2012 10:12 AM

LOL 9:28.

Posted by Anonymous | June 8, 2012 10:24 AM

Just looked up "the iPods" -- this is NOT a band.

Posted by Anonymous | June 8, 2012 10:36 AM

@10:12 - the person doing that has a mental illness, its called Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. Furthermore, it's not one bit funny.

Posted by Anonymous | June 8, 2012 10:37 AM

Yeah, it seemed weird. But since I did not see it going on in most places I wondered if I was just out of the loop! Getting excited about stuff and sports is good, but it seems a little over the top and not the appropriate place for it. ; )

11:04- No, he/she (both?) is just an attention-seeking idiot.

^repent! YTINA.SNIL will set you free.

Posted by Anonymous | June 8, 2012 11:28 AM

YTINAS.NIL is life. Praise him.

Posted by Anonymous | June 8, 2012 12:01 PM

the bare trees album was unfortunately overshadowed by the later lineups much like the early Pink Floyd albums..

Posted by Anonymous | June 8, 2012 1:05 PM

11:18...it's a dumpy, sweat pants wearing housewife that neglects her kids while she writes stupidity on BV and laughs alone at her own jokes. This is fact.

It is known.
