You couldn't pay to go see either of these bands, particularly sleigh bells.
Ucch, what is wrong with you people?

If you want to see Sleigh Bells, go to http://tinyurl.com/7gmym5l and type in "converse" as the fan club pass. Tickets are still available.

seems funny for converse to sponsor a band that conspicuously made a pair of keds the cover for their last album...

Amazing how the city allows Bowery Presents to profit off of a public space.

Converse pays Bowery Presents to put this on. Therefore, BP is making money off of public land. Illegal, or they're getting around a loophole re: profiting off a free concert on public land which should be closed.

If you tell me Converse pays a fee to have these shows, so what? Irrelevant. BP is taking money from Converse thus making money from this free concert. How is that any different than having a free concert in the park and walking around with a bucket asking for donations? At least that's honest. BP is merely holding out their bucket to the sponsor not the audience. And doesn't ticket admission foster profiteering (people flip tickets)?

These concerts are awful because they send a message to taxpaying New Yorkers that only corporations can have live music concerts on publicly owned land. The people who control these piers say anyone can do a show on them, but fact is, it's anyone who has at least $50K. What average New Yorker has that? Who but a multimillionaire with money to burn could spend that kind of money for a show. It is a exclusionary fee.

I do wonder what is the different in having a free concert in the park and walking around with a bucket asking for donations? At least that's honest. BP is merely holding out their bucket to the sponsor not the audience.

I don't see how you can complain when you get to see awesome bands like The Kills for free. I wish I had free shows like this in my city.
