^^ don't forget Justice

Posted by Anonymous | June 29, 2012 12:11 PM

1211 not at the same venue

that being said; tix still available for every t5 show that went onsale today (wilco, 2x fiona, 2x morrissey). scalpers nightmare.

Posted by Anonymous | June 29, 2012 12:11 PM

Bon Iver just announced shows through the whole month of December and I couldn't get ONE ticket in the orchestra.

Posted by Anonymous | June 29, 2012 12:13 PM

these are literally shows for scalpers. if scalpers didn't exist, these shows wouldn't exist.

you would just have 2 wilco shows at prospect park, those other morrissey shows, and maybe 1 fiona show.

artists finally understand how to profit off the scalpers. kudos to them.

Posted by Anonymous | June 29, 2012 12:14 PM

fuckin' llamas.

Posted by Anonymous | June 29, 2012 12:14 PM

got tix for Morrissey and Fiona. happy camper!

Posted by Anonymous | June 29, 2012 12:19 PM

"got tix for Morrissey and Fiona. happy camper!"

Until you actually step in the venue and the show starts

Posted by Anonymous | June 29, 2012 12:22 PM

@1219 nah, people won't pay out the ass to see syd.

Posted by Anonymous | June 29, 2012 12:23 PM

Everyone who wants to get tickets got tickets. All the hipsters have no 'exclusive sold out shows' to attend/instagram. Artists are making tons of money off scalpers attempting to re-sell their unsellable tickets.

It's a great day for the industry.

Posted by Anonymous | June 29, 2012 12:24 PM

12:23 thank you for saving me 37$

Posted by Anonymous | June 29, 2012 12:24 PM

Fiona tickets still available.
.05xFace

Posted by Anonymous | June 29, 2012 12:24 PM

CAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARL!

Posted by Anonymous | June 29, 2012 12:25 PM

June 29 is officially Scalper Fakeout Day. God help anyone who bought tickets to anything today.

Posted by scalper x | June 29, 2012 12:27 PM

why do people care whether others want to pay face value for these tix or not? tix still available for all shows

Posted by Anonymous | June 29, 2012 12:27 PM

Except Ed Sheeran, little boy is a goldmine.

Posted by scalper x | June 29, 2012 12:27 PM

Artists love scalpers. It does not benefit them to fight the secondary market. They embrace it, because even if scalpers buy up tons of seats and no one buys from them, the artist is still getting paid. They could be playing to a show that is technically sold out, where half the seats are empty (ie. Charlie Sheen).

Posted by Anonymous | June 29, 2012 12:28 PM

12:28 You mean they don't get sad looking out into the crowd and seeing a half full venue knowing half of the people in said half full venue paid 4x face to be there?

Posted by Anonymous | June 29, 2012 12:32 PM

I have never given a scalper a dime over face for any show. If the only seats available are for an inflated price by one of these lowlifes, I pack it up and go home. No show is worth fostering an industry of parasites.

Posted by Anonymous | June 29, 2012 12:37 PM

any MDNA tix left?

Posted by Anonymous | June 29, 2012 12:39 PM

@1232 think about what you just said. that scenario would never happen.

Posted by Anonymous | June 29, 2012 12:44 PM

"12:28 You mean they don't get sad looking out into the crowd and seeing a half full venue knowing half of the people in said half full venue paid 4x face to be there?"

Feist looked pretty embarrassed at RCMH when the entire front section was half empty.

Posted by Anonymous | June 29, 2012 12:57 PM

I'd be embarrassed too if I realized my fans were too stupid to move up to better seats after they have clearly been empty for half the show.

Posted by Anonymous | June 29, 2012 12:59 PM

Wilco is adding an "early show" at Terminal 5!?!?! So they are essentially playing 3 shows within a 24 hour span. Wow setlists will be short and set will lack energy. I regret buying tix today :(

Posted by Venkman | June 29, 2012 12:59 PM

AHHHHHHHHH wilco early show ftw. suck it scalpers

Posted by Anonymous | June 29, 2012 1:00 PM

June 29th; the day musicians fought back.

Posted by Anonymous | June 29, 2012 1:03 PM

Posted by Anonymous | June 29, 2012 1:05 PM

Posted by Anonymous | June 29, 2012 1:12 PM

Posted by Anonymous | June 29, 2012 1:12 PM

Posted by Ed Sheeran | June 29, 2012 1:46 PM

Ed Sheeran is the guy who has tickets with resale value. Nothing else is important.

Posted by Anonymous | June 29, 2012 1:56 PM

SWAAAANNS!

Posted by Anonymous | June 29, 2012 1:59 PM

Is Ed Sheeran really that valuable? I've never heard of him before right now.

Posted by Anonymous | June 29, 2012 2:04 PM

Posted by Anonymous | June 29, 2012 2:35 PM

Posted by Anonymous | June 29, 2012 4:05 PM

I'm getting a pet lllama, just because I saw that foto.

Posted by :-O | June 29, 2012 4:13 PM

^ I think you mean "Morrissey's asshole still available". But not for you trendies, that's for sure.

Posted by Anonymous | June 29, 2012 4:13 PM

It is because of scalping/speculating that artists that could never actually really sell an entire arena's worth of seats to legit fans (ahem The Strokes), can play MSG.

Posted by Anonymous | June 29, 2012 4:16 PM

12:32, artists are happy if people pay 4x face, if they provide some of those seats to the brokers directly (which a majority of artists that play bigger venues do).

Posted by Anonymous | June 29, 2012 4:22 PM

lol "my fans" lol jerry! jerry! lol lol

Posted by Anonymous | June 29, 2012 4:46 PM

To add to 4:16, it works both ways.. Usually artists dabble in the secondary market, so they'll get a cut of the money when people pay 4x face value. But if the scalping market is a dud, they don't lose money; the scalpers/speculators risked the cash, and the artist basically ended up collecting money for seats that got eaten by someone who took a risk and failed. Win/win for the artist.
The secondary market also serves as a marketing tool, in that it creates hype for the artist. If the show is artificially sold out because scalpers bought up the seats, it looks great on paper for the artist. If the show is truly a hot show, and tickets are going for 5x face just to get in the door, this also serves as a hype mechanism because this was the show where fans got "shut out", or where it's the "hottest ticket in town", etc.
