Grizzly Bear at Governors Island in 2010 (more by Dominick Mastrangelo)
Grizzly Bear

As mentioned earlier today, Grizzly Bear will be releasing their new album on September 18 via Warp and touring in support of it around the same time. That tour includes the NYC show at Radio City on September 24. When we first mentioned the show, ticket info had not been posted, but we now know that tickets go on sale Friday (6/8) at 11 AM with a venue presale starting Thursday (6/7) at 11 AM.

We're also giving away a pair of tickets. Details on how to enter to win those are below.

---

Grizzly Bear - "Sleeping Ute"

--
For a chance at winning tickets to Grizzly Bear at Radio City: either tweet something that includes both @BrooklynVegan AND "GRIZZLY BEAR" in the tweet, or send an email to BVCONTESTS@HOTMAIL.COM with the subject line "GRiZZLY BEAR". Include your first and last name in the email. We'll pick a winner at random and contact them with more details. If you enter by email, it will not be shared with anyone else. Good luck!

new song is the jam, plain and simple. Blows their older sleepier stuff out of the water.

So where's the ticket info?

Posted by Anonymous | June 5, 2012 7:14 PM

Face x .75 day of show.

Posted by Anonymous | June 5, 2012 7:17 PM

Seems I'm in the minority thus far as I just can't get excited about the new song. Dan's voice sounds thin and weak and the music just isn't that great. I don't know I just expected more from these guys by now.

why dont bands ever consider just holding steady. dont play RCMH - just do a bowery show. cough cough metric.

Posted by Anonymous | June 6, 2012 2:45 PM

"BV commenters, ill informed, bitter shitheads. The lowest of the low."

Hey stupid, what did anyone say that was bitter or ill informed. This band while really good is no way even close to being big enough to sell RCMh and everyone knows it. You know exactly how this is gonna go down

Bowery Presents and their outlet known as Bowery Presents Brooklyn Vegan have already started trying to hype this up. Giving away tickets to get people trying and then when they don't get any, they think "oh i better jump on buying a ticket then"

Tomorrow's presale will have very few tickets and not very good seats to make people think there is a demand

Friday's sale will hold back a lot of the choice seats for promotion and again to create some false demand although they won't dare try to say the show is even close to selling out.

For the next few months you will get emails about the show constantly and at certain times notices saying good seats have been released

Finally the week of and day of especially you will be able to find tickets on the usual sites and outside the venue for dirt cheap and on ticketmaster which will have amazing seats available

Truth hurts but it is still the truth

Posted by Anonymous | June 6, 2012 3:12 PM

^^^ wrong. The thing is , they haven't played a show here for ages. They've sold equivalent tickets in NYC last go around of combined show, and this album will clearly be bigger than their last. There's no philly show, and this is the only NYC show schedules. Hence, people will want to get a ticket. Not sure who made you the authority here, but.... Summerstage is also 6K. It's just the name that's scaring you

Posted by Anonymous | June 6, 2012 3:31 PM

Everyone should just stop buying tickets to shows and let the scalpers lower the prices for us. I haven't bought tickets to a seated show in a year and have yet to have bad seats.

Posted by Anonymous | June 6, 2012 3:33 PM

I, for one, will gladly take a pair of tickets from some amateur scalper who panics and lets his "extra" pair go for less than face the day of show.

Posted by Anonymous | June 6, 2012 4:24 PM

3;31,
You are an idiot or i can only assume someone from BP or involved with the band
You are so fucking wrong it is hilarious. Tickets for all of their shows the last time were a piece of cake to get both when they went on sale or after. None of them sold out or were "bullshit" BP sell outs. Except maybe the small Music Hall warm up show before the record came out.

Watch and see fool. Again truth hurts but it is still the truth.

Posted by Anonymous | June 6, 2012 4:38 PM

"I, for one, will gladly take a pair of tickets from some amateur scalper who panics and lets his "extra" pair go for less than face the day of show."

As stated above, there will be plenty of good tickets available the week and day of the show. You wont have to wait for an amateur scalper to panic. You will find plenty of tickets. Oh and also to counteract 3:31, while it has not been announced yet, there is most certainly going to be a small warm up show. Actually you can add that to the comment at 3:12. The added small show will be to undersell and cause people who don't get in to panic and grab tickets to the bigger one quicker.

Posted by Anonymous | June 6, 2012 4:42 PM

you are so quick to rip off "scalpers" (or just fans who can't go to the show anymore) but whine when they try to rip you off. I'm not a scalper but if i ever have an in demand ticket will sell for more than face just to compensate for when you vultures offer 5 dollars for my low in demand ticket i can't use anymore.

Posted by Anonymous | June 6, 2012 5:03 PM

Regardless of whether there will be good tickets available or not (which is more of a scalping issue really) Grizzly Bear are more than capable of filling RCMH. They aren't some tiny band. Their last record debuted in the top 10 on Billboard as will this one and they will get massive pitchfork love and a stupid amount of press ,etc
I'm not their hugest fan but this is not a stretch in NYC for them..

Posted by Anonymous | June 6, 2012 5:07 PM

This show is for the Aziz Ansaris and the Parsons students of the world.

Posted by Anonymous | June 6, 2012 5:17 PM

Please 5:07, I implore you to put a name to your comment so I can laughingly call you out when you are shown to be wrong.

Posted by Anonymous | June 7, 2012 12:06 AM

you first...bub

Posted by Anonymous | June 7, 2012 9:10 AM

what's all the hubbub, bub?

Posted by Anonymous | June 7, 2012 9:32 AM

@4:38 both town hall shows were sold out. ya burnt.

Posted by Anonymous | June 7, 2012 9:58 AM

Got a great seat no problem during the presale.

Posted by Anonymous | June 7, 2012 11:14 AM

The first seats TM tried to give me were way up in nowhere's-ville in the mezzanine; I retried and it gave me better seats, so I retried 3 more times and each time they were better until I made it all the way up the third row.

Posted by Jason | June 7, 2012 11:26 AM

Jason - third row as in Orchestra Row CC or Orchestra Pit Row CCC?

Posted by Anonymous | June 7, 2012 11:28 AM

Orch Pit Row AAA during presale! #grizzlypubesinmyface

Posted by Anonymous | June 7, 2012 11:31 AM

band presale was horrible. chase cards ftw!

Posted by Anonymous | June 7, 2012 11:32 AM

Best I saw was Row PP.

Posted by Anonymous | June 7, 2012 11:37 AM

I love how Radio City shared their own presale password about 30 minutes after the presale started.

Posted by Anonymous | June 7, 2012 11:40 AM

Got extras, and a new email! 2xface@yahoo.com

Posted by Anonymous | June 7, 2012 11:43 AM

got a couple good ones!

Posted by Anonymous | June 7, 2012 11:56 AM

So glad that e-ticket delivery was available for all the Orchestra Pit tickets. It's not like they're already up on StubHub or anything.

Posted by Anonymous | June 7, 2012 11:58 AM

Jizzly Bear
that's where you pull out in time to spew all over your big hairy gay lover

Posted by Anonymous | June 7, 2012 12:03 PM

only mezzanine now? Surely this can't have sold out the orchestra. they must be holding some of the good seats. Does reloading it actually yield better seats as above commenter mentioned?

Posted by Anonymous | June 7, 2012 12:47 PM

The general on-sale *may* have some good seats available, but don't get your hopes up.

Posted by Anonymous | June 7, 2012 12:53 PM

Chase card presale still has some awesome seats.

Posted by Anonymous | June 7, 2012 12:57 PM

^ yeah, too bad they're for Grizzly Bear

HIYOOOOOOH!

Posted by Anonymous | June 7, 2012 1:22 PM

1:22 WITH THE ZINGGGG!!!

Posted by Anonymous | June 7, 2012 1:36 PM

what do you think is better viewing SS to the side or 1st mezz, row b ??? any thought? haven't seen a show at radio.

Posted by Anonymous | June 7, 2012 2:55 PM

2:55, wait for the general sale for better seats...maybe.

Posted by Anonymous | June 7, 2012 2:57 PM

is orchestra completely gone? ARGHHHH

Posted by Anonymous | June 7, 2012 6:04 PM

Can we save complaints like 6:04's until the public sale happens and all the scalper bots snatch up the "good" seats?

Posted by Anonymous | June 7, 2012 6:55 PM

After a ton of refreshing today (and yesterday) ended up getting 2nd row pit at like 11:05. But now I have extras. ;p

Posted by Anonymous | June 8, 2012 11:10 AM

Have fun trying to get ANY money back from your extras, dude.

Posted by Anonymous | June 8, 2012 1:31 PM

^ this guy has such a chip on his shoulder about this concert, it's almost pathetic.

Posted by Anonymous | June 8, 2012 1:42 PM

11:10 i will help you out. How many extras and what are your seats.

1:31 you're a weirdo

Posted by Anonymous | June 8, 2012 2:13 PM

i bought a presale ticket and my friend bought a general sale ticket. he has a better seat than me. how is this possible?

Posted by Anonymous | June 8, 2012 4:57 PM

some dude is totally going nuts right now because he doesn't think gb should be playing radio city. but they are. his life must be so interesting. what a psychopath.

Posted by Anonymous | June 8, 2012 8:37 PM

is it a dollar for each minute
can they even play a 53 minute set?

this is alot of money to see them

Posted by Anonymous | June 8, 2012 10:29 PM

"i bought a presale ticket and my friend bought a general sale ticket. he has a better seat than me. how is this possible?"

You panicked and settled for a bad seat during the presale.
