Jens Lekman

Few performers today can hold sway with a large audience with just an acoustic guitar but Jens Lekman is one of them. Performing solo due to visa issues with his band, Lekman's 10-song set (opening for wacky hi-jinks of of Montreal) included old favorites like "A Sweet Summer's Night On Hammer Hill," "Postcard for Nina" and "Black Cab," as well as songs from his new album, I Know What Love Isn't.

More pictures and setlist from Jens' Northside set are below, along with a video of "Hammer Hill" shot by Big Ass Lens.

Looks pretty thin, crowd wise?

yeah crowd was all in line out front. probably an hour to get in b/c only 4 staff people checking people in.

staff also didn't care if you had a ticket or not. Sales were so bad ($50 was way too high) that they dumped free tix on the market. a simple RSVP to rcrd lbl garnered you 3 free tix (a $150 value!)

12 portopotties? way not enough for the capacity. must have slashed budgets as promoters saw no returns on their high ticket prices.

yeah if you were even remotely following things you could've had 3 or however many tickets to this for free. starting a show @ 5 pm on a friday is too early, but probably had to because of curfew.

1. Can we start calling this McCarren Parking Lot? Because that's what this venue is.

2. Everything about the way this particular event was ran betrayed a shocking lack of professionalism on behalf of the Northside organizers. This was probably the biggest show of the festival, and they basically said "fuck you, take off work if you want to come to this." So, off the bat, I'm missing two of the bands that are the reason I bought a badge.

Then, the line's around the corner, and once we got to the front, someone calling himself one of the festival organizers decides to have a conversation with the bracelet bro in the middle of my transaction. There were also about 4 other people at the table not doing anything. This in the so-called VIP line.
