Metric at Sasquatch 2012 (more by Chris Graham)
Metric

As mentioned, Metric will release their new album, Synthetica, next week (6/12). They're now streaming the album in full a week ahead of its release and you can check that out below. Metric will also be celebrating the release with three intimate shows including one in NYC on June 13 at Music Hall of Williamsburg. According to a press release, tickets for the show will not be available to the public but details on how to obtain tickets will be announced later this week on ilovemetric.com. Metric will also make their debut appearance on the outdoor stage at Jimmy Kimmel Live on June 21.

The band's previously discussed full tour in support of the album kicks off in September and comes to NYC for a show at the much larger Radio City Music Hall on September 23. Tickets for that show are still available.

A list of updated dates and the Synthetica album stream below...

Meaning - our rcmh show isn't selling well and we need to make people feel excluded to something so they buy tickets.

Posted by Anonymous | June 5, 2012 11:59 AM

hahahahahahahaha

Posted by Anonymous | June 5, 2012 12:03 PM

4 nights at Terminal 5!!

Posted by Anonymous | June 5, 2012 12:26 PM

MHoW seems like a normal venue for this band, no? I wouldn't call that relatively intimate. If it was NIN or something then yeah, MHoW would be intimate.

Posted by Anonymous | June 5, 2012 12:38 PM

Oh, I should have kept reading I guess. Didn't see they were headlining Radio City. Did not think they were that popular. Whatevs.

Posted by Anonymous | June 5, 2012 12:39 PM

Intinmate would be in my bed not MHOW!

Posted by Anonymous | June 5, 2012 12:44 PM

mhow isn't intimate. their union pool (emily/jimmy) record-release shows for fantasies were intimate. mhow is basically the venue-size they should be playing.

Posted by Anonymous | June 5, 2012 12:50 PM

Showed up to type what everyone else has typed already. Mhow is the correct venue size for this band, not "intimate." whoever booked this tour is gonna lose their shirt on this.

I listened to the new album; it's ok. It's not "book radio city at $50 a ticket" great - not for a band that's never been able to do that before. It's no "hurry up, we're dreaming." no fucking way.

Can't wait for the promoter's shills showing up to the BV post about the mhow show calling it "the show of the year." :-/

Posted by Anonymous | June 5, 2012 1:26 PM

Bowery is notorious for booking bands in venues that are way too big, blocking out tons of seats and calling it a s0ld out show and hyping it up. I guess it didn't work that way this time, being that there's still tons of seats left at RCMH for their show.

Posted by Anonymous | June 5, 2012 1:46 PM

You have to admire an album that opens with the line "I'm just as fucked up as they say."

Posted by Anonymous | June 5, 2012 2:42 PM

if the RCMH show doesn't get moved, then i'm buying a $1 stubhub ticket, just so i can spread out my 100 square foot banner in the balcony that reads 'YOU SHOULDNT BE PLAYING THIS VENUE' throughout the entire show

Posted by Anonymous | June 5, 2012 3:10 PM

@3:10

slow clap

Posted by Anonymous | June 5, 2012 4:55 PM

"I'm just as fucked up as they say." huu EPIC

Posted by Anonymous | June 6, 2012 9:16 AM

i'm guessing you all missed the ticket giveaway for the MHOW show that happened yesterday afternoon. i pulled 10 pairs, tickets were free so 100x(face +1)

Posted by scalper x | June 7, 2012 3:01 PM

Scalper X may be lying, but I got tix to the MHOW show!

Posted by Anonymous | June 9, 2012 7:13 PM

original site that gave away tix >> acurawithmetricny.eventbrite.com

metric also gave away guestlist spots today via an email contest their own site, but they're all gone obviously. (they said they gave away a few hundred, but trust that it was only 80).

so ya all tix are gone

Posted by scalper x | June 9, 2012 9:17 PM

How's that Radio City show going for ya, Emily?

Posted by Anonymous | June 9, 2012 9:41 PM

So does Eventbrite actually let you change the name for the reserved tickets? Some sketchy dudes are selling those tix on Craigslist.

Posted by Anonymous | June 9, 2012 10:34 PM

@1034 haha yea you can just put them under someone else's name/email, shit cray

Posted by Anonymous | June 9, 2012 10:42 PM

Congrats BV on missing the third and final ticket distribution for this show!

Posted by Billy the Sid | June 10, 2012 5:09 PM

metric? like that chick from Broken Social Scene? people still care about her? weird.

Posted by Anonymous | June 10, 2012 5:20 PM

"Fantasies" was a fantastic LP. And I've heard the new one is of a similar level of quality. You all can wait for your Pitchfork review and catch them at Radio City Music Hall, but I'll be seeing them this week!!! SO glad I won a pair of tickets!

I love Emily Haines!

Posted by Metric Fangirl | June 10, 2012 5:47 PM

anyone know if they're only playing the new cd at these small shows?

Posted by Anonymous | June 10, 2012 6:41 PM

Take my word, Metric Fangirl, no one but a few other losers are actually jealous of you.

Everyone else could give a shit so shut your trap you stupid bitch

Posted by Anonymous | June 10, 2012 7:18 PM

wow.

Posted by Anonymous | June 10, 2012 7:39 PM

"Everyone else could give a shit so shut your trap you stupid bitch"

That doesn't make any sense. That is also a horrible thing to say to a girl. Any person, really, but, you know.

Posted by Okay, folks. Settle down. | June 10, 2012 7:42 PM

"Congrats BV on missing the third and final ticket distribution for this show!"

I bet that you run MyFreeConcert. Just so you know, that third "opportunity" was for WFUV members only and wasn't even an active ticket request page.

Posted by Anonymous | June 10, 2012 8:03 PM

@803 pretty sure i just got tix from wfuv, am not a member

Posted by Anonymous | June 10, 2012 8:44 PM

i'm going fangirl! just be glad people like @718 won't be there haha

Posted by e | June 10, 2012 8:46 PM

I'm going, Metric Fangirl! Be happy that people like 7:08PM aren't going!

Posted by E | June 10, 2012 8:47 PM

I meant 7:18PM, oops.

Posted by E | June 10, 2012 8:47 PM

wow either my computer is bad or this site loads slowly!

Posted by E | June 10, 2012 8:49 PM

erryone get a life

Posted by Anonymous | June 10, 2012 9:01 PM

Tix from the Metric-run contest guarantee admission according to the folks at ilovemetric.com, that's pretty sweet (they said you can show up as late as 845pm, band goes onstage at 9pm). I bet that means the Eventbrite tickets also guarantee admission and that the 'first-come first-serve' thing is just a safeguard in case shit gets real close to showtime.

Posted by So ya | June 11, 2012 10:18 AM

BUT DO WE ALL GET 'VIP' LAMINATES LIKE AT SANTIGOLD?????

Posted by Anonymous | June 11, 2012 10:21 AM

I hope MFC wasn't lying about the free booze, because that's the only way I'd be able to tolerate being there on Wednesday.

Posted by Anonymous | June 11, 2012 11:30 AM

@1130 free booze is at wavves, not metric. def not metric.

Posted by Anonymous | June 11, 2012 12:39 PM

Metric Fangirl, A and E are all stupid fat bitches. Yup I said it.

Posted by Anonymous | June 11, 2012 12:59 PM

metric fans are actually hot #trust

Posted by Anonymous | June 11, 2012 1:45 PM

Metric fans are definitely hot. The music is not so hot. Which is probably why the fans are hot.

Posted by AyAyAy | June 11, 2012 2:01 PM

MHOW very rarely have shows that are 21+. Not one on their calendar right now, besides this one. And its sponsored by a huge brand. Booze prolly is free.

Posted by Anonymous | June 11, 2012 2:32 PM

FINE i'll e-mail and ask

Posted by Anonymous | June 11, 2012 4:29 PM

"Haha good question. I'm actually not positive about that. I guess you will just need to wait and see ;)" -Metric Management re: free booze at the show

Posted by Anonymous | June 11, 2012 5:14 PM

The Metric management wants to meet you in the men's room when the band takes the stage.

Posted by Anonymous | June 11, 2012 5:19 PM

I'll show her an intimate release.

Posted by Anonymous | June 12, 2012 8:04 AM

804AM FTW

Posted by Anonymous | June 12, 2012 12:46 PM

Y'all Metric freaks going to that show better thank Death Grips for being tremendous tour-canceling a-holes.

Posted by Anonymous | June 12, 2012 1:46 PM

Had only heard a few tracks over the years, and never paid much attention. BF and I won tix for this show last night, and what can I say? It was kind of amazing. I don't know them, as far as where they belong in any music scene, but the show was great, her voice is spot on, and I had a great time. I'll get the album

Posted by Loki | June 14, 2012 11:09 AM

It was one of those shows where you like the new album a lot more after hearing it live.

Also they were pretty spot on, even though they skipped two tracks on their encore setlist (Help I'm Alive / Combat Baby (acoustic).

And those e-tickets totally guaranteed admission, zero line outside. Arrived at 830pm and I was touching the stage. Place was half empty until 9pm; they went on at 930pm. No free booze, though.

Posted by Anonymous | June 14, 2012 11:34 AM

great music.
