Americana

Neil Young & Crazy Horse's new album Americana is out today (stream it in full HERE) and he's just announced a fall tour, part of which is with Patti Smith (Yes it's the Godfather of Grunge together with the Godmother of Punk). That tour brings Neil and Patti to NYC for a show at Madison Square Garden on November 27. Tickets to the MSG show go on sale June 10 at noon with a presale happening Friday, June 8 at 10AM.

Patti Smith also has a new album out today; it's called Banga and it's her first new album of original material since 2004's Trampin'. Check out a stream of the title track below (via Rolling Stone) and a spotify stream of the full album, along with a list of all dates and a video trailer for Neil Young's Americana.

Really not a fan of Neil, and Patti is kind of a bore for the last 30 odd years, but something tells me that this double bill will be pretty epic.

Neil Young is fantasic live. Love Patti, but she is better in a smaller venue.

Will this come to Barclays Center?!

Posted by Anonymous | June 5, 2012 9:53 AM

"Really not a fan of Neil, and Patti is kind of a bore for the last 30 odd years, but something tells me that this double bill will be pretty epic."

this will be a GREAT show. but if you're not a fan and you think Patti sucks then you probably shouldn't spend your money haha

Went to the last show Neil Young played at MSG (Dec '08 maybe?), and all I can tell you is that the whole place was full of old people sitting on their asses. Being there depressed me. Not until "Rockin' in the Free World" did anyone get up.

"this will be a GREAT show. but if you're not a fan and you think Patti sucks then you probably shouldn't spend your money haha"

I'll do whatever the fuck I choose, douchebag. I have ample money that I have busted my ass for to spend on what I like, and if I want to buy up a whole section of MSG to just sit in the middle of it then walk the fuck out, I don't need your permission you hipster troll.

No one doubts this will be a great double bill but note something important.

Radiohead and Bruce Springsteen god bless em cut out all that elitist shit and made all the tickets in the venue the same price and affordable. Radiohead made the whole floor GA while Bruce made the front half GA. Meaning that not just the rich people could get a great spot.

Neil Young((and for that matter the other champion of the working class, Roger Waters) go the other way and make the best seats and spots hugely expensive. Neil and Patti are $288 dollars for those prize seats.

Just remember that when Neil is singing how the gov't and Bush screwed you and how the poor are being fucked. Total scumbag

^ i LOLed

Posted by Anonymous | June 5, 2012 10:07 AM

this will most certainly be a waste of time and money

Posted by Anonymous | June 5, 2012 10:07 AM

This 8======8's for you Neil

Posted by Anonymous | June 5, 2012 10:10 AM

@ 10:07 - Yes, Neil Young is a "Total scumbag". If you honestly believe that, you are a total moron. Go back to your meaningless existence you irrelevant d-head.

Posted by Anonymous | June 5, 2012 10:14 AM

This siamese twin penis is for you?

Posted by Anonymous | June 5, 2012 10:15 AM

That last MSG show was outstanding as always, 2 hours 45 minutes set. The front of the floor was GA and those tix were even cheaper than the floor seats.

Posted by ME | June 5, 2012 10:15 AM

SAVE YOUR MONEY!!! If you want the same effect, just listen to Live Rust and drink watered down beer at home.

Posted by Anonymous | June 5, 2012 10:16 AM

10:07, the last arena tour i saw Neil do had the floor as GA and was the cheapest ticket as well.

$75 for that, and Wilco as an opening band, was a fucking deal.

Posted by Anonymous | June 5, 2012 10:21 AM

10:14 the proof is in the pudding moron. Suck a dick.

ME at 10:15 you are very wrong about that.

Posted by Anonymous | June 5, 2012 10:23 AM

hippie music

Posted by Anonymous | June 5, 2012 10:26 AM

The front of the floor was GA for the last show Neil Young played at MSG. Those tickets were also close to the cheapest, if not the cheapest, available. Most of that crowd is older and doesn't want to stand for hours on end at a show. If the GA is out for this show, I'll stay home. I've seen him enough times.

Posted by Anonymous | June 5, 2012 10:28 AM

Live Rust is a great album. IIRC it is Nice Price ($8 at J&R).

I'm with 10:16

Posted by Anonymous | June 5, 2012 10:37 AM

While many of the other arena shows on the US leg are showing up as GA, NY & Boston are defaulted to endstage with seated floor. Money to be made, I suppose.

Posted by Anonymous | June 5, 2012 10:40 AM

10:07 is spot on. 288 for the good seats? get the fuck out of here.

Posted by Anonymous | June 5, 2012 10:43 AM

I don't think the entire floor is going to be $288. Look at Red Rocks. It's just the first row that is expensive.

Posted by Anonymous | June 5, 2012 10:50 AM

Looks like the Neil/Patti apologist pussied out of this fuck fest. As usual.

Posted by Anonymous | June 5, 2012 10:50 AM

Most of you sniveling fools aren't even worthy to comb a single strand of Patti Smith's mustache.

Posted by Anonymous | June 5, 2012 10:58 AM

Did we make it this far without a L1NSAN1TY reference?

Posted by Anonymous | June 5, 2012 11:02 AM

I am a very casual fan is it worth $80 for a cheap seat at the Garden for Neil??

Posted by Anonymous | June 5, 2012 11:03 AM

^

I think you mean sniveling * idiots*. a fool implies there is a modicum of intelligence.

Posted by Anonymous | June 5, 2012 11:06 AM

^actually he said "casual fan" dumbass

Posted by Anonymous | June 5, 2012 11:07 AM

10:40 - You are correct. By putting GA tickets on the floor in NYC and Boston (where there is an abundance of people with money), they would be leaving money on the table. Neil isn't stupid. He can make much more money via the secondary market in NYC if there are reserved seats on the floor.
Oops, did I insinuate that Neil dabbles in the secondary market? No, I outright stated it.

Posted by Anonymous | June 5, 2012 11:36 AM

To add to 11:36, that's also why he has no problem charging 288 a ticket in NYC. Because he knows people are willing to pay. But that's also why I haven't seen Neil since 1996.

Posted by Anonymous | June 5, 2012 11:41 AM

11:03, wait until the night of the show, and get in cheap from Stubhub.

Posted by Anonymous | June 5, 2012 11:43 AM

^sounds like a plan!

Posted by Anonymous | June 5, 2012 11:49 AM

This will surely be scalped out right away. I also will be watching stub hub as these exorbitant prices fall right into my budget.

Posted by Anonymous | June 5, 2012 11:51 AM

I really wouldn't read too much into the seating chart that is posted. All of the layouts currently posted with GA are for the old arena layout, as in the layout as it is prior to all the work that will be done this summer. It's entirely possible that Neil is using some kind of full or half GA set up on the floor and MSG just hasn't put up an updated seating chart reflecting those kind of layouts for next year.

Posted by Anonymous | June 5, 2012 11:55 AM

Neil hired Shepard Fairey to design his backdrop. I would rather look at Billy Talbot's face on the jumbotron for 2 hours.

Posted by Anonymous | June 5, 2012 12:14 PM

NEIL YANNG

Posted by Anonymous | June 5, 2012 12:19 PM

Speaking of buying from Stubhub, I can't wait to see Roger Waters for 10 bucks in a few weeks.

Posted by Anonymous | June 5, 2012 1:52 PM

^I hope. I've got tix for one night, but wouldn't mind going to two. And yes, I know it's the same exact show.

Posted by Anonymous | June 5, 2012 1:58 PM

Speaking of crazy horses, wasn't that great when Tywin's horse dropped that big pile of steaming shit on the throne room floor?

Posted by Anonymous | June 5, 2012 1:59 PM

Neil Young has always been an expensive tickets. Remember the United Palace shows? At least this time around there is an opener that is not his wife.

Posted by Anonymous | June 5, 2012 2:09 PM

All animals are created equal, but some are more equal than others.

Posted by Anonymous | June 5, 2012 2:25 PM

Last show at MSG was 7 songs about making tender love to Pegi in the back of his 'lectric car. Don't see how that can be topped, regardless of ticket cost.

Posted by Anonymous | June 5, 2012 2:54 PM

Peg Leg! Peg Leg!
Wood Eye! Wood Eye!

Posted by Anonymous | June 5, 2012 3:03 PM

So...what's the presale code? or is this an AMEX or CHASE presale?

Posted by Anonymous | June 5, 2012 9:52 PM

Can you email me with some pointers on how you made your site look this awesome, I would appreciate it.
