Is this flyer real?
Revelation Records NYC

The above flyer recently popped up on Facebook and though there is not any concrete confirmation on the dates, it seems to go along with recent reports of a set of NYC shows to counter-balance the 25th Anniversary spectacular on the West Coast. No word on who may play the event, the significance of the "X" (other than the obvious straight-edge connection), but rumors have names like Quicksand (who reunited for the celebration), Chain of Strength, and some of the other usual suspects from the recent Pomona shows. Fingers crossed.

Check out some recently surfaced video of full sets by Sick of it All, Youth of Today and Quicksand from the California shows below alongside an old Chain of Strength set from the 90s.

Posted by D | June 17, 2012 5:56 PM

if this is true I hope they do one in Europe too

Posted by Anonymous | June 17, 2012 6:12 PM

This is cool but will there be a designated area that I need a separate ticket for where I can hit my girlfriend in or is it included in the standard admission?

Posted by Anonymous | June 17, 2012 6:24 PM

i think chain of strength has already announced they'll be here 12th and 13th

Posted by Anonymous | June 17, 2012 6:34 PM

I don't see what the big shit is about this Black 'n' Blue productions booked all these bands in the last year ....but because Revelation Records is associated all the SxE kids are ready to bend over ,,, Revelation has been unimportant for nearly 2 decades and
to boot the bands that put Revelation on the map weren't even straightedge Chain of Strength and No for an answer who gives a fuck ???? i bought those seven inches when they came out and i only played them once because they were so substandard to what was going on in NYHC .... Get Side By Side or Inside out on the bill or the original Slipknot then maybe this would be worth going to ...otherwise this is just a 3 day dragged out money grab ...

Posted by Anonymous | June 17, 2012 6:52 PM

fuck.. what if they did it right and got an all-star case of Rev bands... quicksand, texas is the reason, inside out, orange 9mm, will haven, shai hulud, the movielife.. ahh im sure it will be some stupid fucking youth crew shit

Posted by Anonymous | June 17, 2012 7:13 PM

"original slipknot" over chain of strength?? hahaha.

Posted by Anonymous | June 17, 2012 7:36 PM

I do have one of most kinds of things now. I am--and have gut-fucked--the pope. My cap is a spiffy little puffball. Ya don't know jackspit, ya slick shitsack.

Posted by jamn | June 17, 2012 7:47 PM

6:52 name dropping old bands on Revelation, saying he bought the records when they came out.. the only one who isn't important and who no one gives a fuck about is YOU. Stay home. Whine about it on the internet.

Posted by Anonymous | June 17, 2012 7:54 PM

What will make the NYC shows special is the same thing that made the Cali shows awesome... Into another, quicksand, sense field, kiss it goodbye, etc... Don't get me wrong, SOIA and GB were good but it's not the big draw of these shows.

Posted by Freddy | June 17, 2012 7:55 PM

@7:55 I only partially agree. GB will always be a huge draw almost anywhere they play unless they got back together and played regular shows, and that isn't happening.

Posted by Anonymous | June 17, 2012 7:58 PM

6:24 hit her where you always do..at home. Then come to the show and be an asshole thug like you always are, hitting and punching everyone, looking like a macho douchebag, then claim you're dancing hard and blame everyone else for standing near you, trying to get into the bands. Or better yet, just stay home and keep typing more sad attempts at humor into your little laptop in the living room on the B9 board and try not to spill your Budweiser when you're doing it

Posted by Anonymous | June 17, 2012 7:59 PM

Hardcore ended in `85. Move on with your lives you sad fucks.

Posted by Anonymous | June 17, 2012 8:27 PM

Is it ok to show up at a straightedge party high on crack AND pcp?
Because that's how I roll these days.

Posted by Anonymous | June 17, 2012 8:28 PM

which was zach de la renta's band? inside out? into another? that would be a cool thing to see.

Posted by Anonymous | June 17, 2012 8:30 PM

I think the X is for the Roman numeral 10, which is Chian of Strength.
I doubt Quicksand will play due to Sergio's commitment with deftones.

Posted by Anonymous | June 17, 2012 8:46 PM

*CHAIN not Chian

Posted by Anonymous | June 17, 2012 8:47 PM

Would be great if we got a SINCE BY MAN reunion

Not whining there buddy just stating that i think it's a bit close-minded to the non-straight edge bands that that they represent their 25th anniversary show with an "X" ... there where many bands on Revelation that were not straight edge that sold tons of albums on the label....as for saying that i bought the records when they where released i am just saying that i obtained them in the proper context and may (or may not) have a pretty good understanding of them... at least the first 15 ...some of the bands i had never heard of until then but was open minded enough to throw my money down Chain of Strength and No for an Answer i felt were the weakest outputs and were popular because they belonged to a movement (my opinion).. Obviously nobody likes the Original Slipknot(which i love)but that's ok because most of the people on here probably heard of the New Slipknot before they even knew there was an old one..

why are people hoping for Orange 9mm? If Chaka's gonna be there and you're hoping for Orange 9mm instead of fucking BURN you're a goofball.

Posted by Anonymous | June 18, 2012 10:36 AM

8:28- That was a hack joke 20 years ago.

Posted by Anonymous | June 18, 2012 10:37 AM

12:31- Sensefield and Texas is the Reason are two of the bands that completely obliterated any connection of the label with its roots in hardcore. They were terrible.

Posted by Anonymous | June 18, 2012 10:38 AM

10:36- agreed.

Posted by Anonymous | June 18, 2012 10:39 AM

Chain of Strength are playing 2 nights confirmed.

Posted by Anonymous | June 18, 2012 11:26 PM

@ 11:26 - no, not a bad list at all

Posted by Anonymous | June 18, 2012 11:49 PM

ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ

Listen to the recordings of these bands. Watch videos of them when they were around the first time. There is no need to go see subpar versions of them in 2012 and it's not cuz the people in the bands are older now, it's cuz that time is over.

This weekend (like the Cali one) is lame cuz there are no current, active hardcore bands on the record label save maybe The Rival Mob whose advance of their record forthcoming on Rev I heard and was not impressed.

Revelation Records is out for one final cashgrab before they fold as where can the label go from here?

As much as I think Off! is overrated, at least Keith Morris is doing something new if not different or unique, which is more than I can say for 99% of the people who were in 1980s NYHC bands.

Posted by D | June 19, 2012 3:54 AM

Sensefield and maybe Eritrea. Not much else though. 'Cept for Tycho of course. But nah. Maybe I'm too old for this shit. Or maybe I'm the shitting image of Kate Braxton on meds.

How about:
Quicksand, Elliott, On the Might of Princes, Civ, Sensefield, Ignite, Gorilla Biscuits, Sick of it All, Orange 9MM, In My Eyes, Whirlpool, Underdog, Shelter, Drowningman, Texas is the Reason, Will Haven
