Smashing Pumpkins at Terminal 5 in 2010 (more by Jen Maier)
Smashing Pumpkins

Billy Corgan's current version of The Smashing Pumpkins (he's the only original member) are set to release their new album, Oceania, next week (6/19) and it's streaming for the week leading up to its release on iTunes. BIlly says it's the band's best record since Mellon Collie. I wouldn't go that far, especially because the overly show-offy drummer makes me long for anything with Jimmy Chamberlain in the band, but it's somewhat refreshing to hear Billy's voice on a batch of new songs, and the writing isn't half bad.

The Pumpkins will be in NYC on the day of the album's release, June 19 for a show at the P.C. Richard & Son iHeartRadio Theater. It's an intimate/private show (200 people) and you can enter for a chance to be there by "liking" this P.C. Richard & Son facebook app. All dates including a Chicago show this week, are listed below.

In other news, Billy Corgan is finally making a pro-wrestling reality TV show. ProWrestling.net reports:

Billy Corgan of The Smashing Pumpkins joined Mister Saint Laurent on MLW Radio to discuss his new wrestling company, Resistance Pro, as well as his upcoming album, Oceania. He also revealed that he intends to launch a reality TV show about what it's like running a wrestling organization.

"I'm doing a lot of behind the scenes stuff. We're trying to get a reality show made," Corgan said. "We just signed a deal with a big reality show producer. A guy with an incredible track record. We're in good hands."

"We believe that wrestling is fascinating on many many levels. Socially, politically, even economically. The struggles independent wrestlers go through to try to find work. Those are real struggles that anybody can identify with. We want to show what goes on in a wrestling company behind the scenes.

Bleacher Report will be posting a new video about Billy's wrestling endeavors every Tuesday for the next month (starting today). Watch part 1 below, along with a list of all dates...

True story. I ran into James Iha at a Yeah Yeah Yeah's gig in 2006 at the Bowery Ballroom. I asked him his thoughts about Billy Corgan. He just smirked and walked away.

Moral of the story: Billy Corgan is a horses ass and has admitted numerous times that it was his worst mistake braking up the original line-up of the Pumpkins.

^ and, not that you're wrong about Billy, but James Iha probably thought you were a horse's ass, too. What the fuck did you think he'd say? "Hi, 4000th fanboy who's approached me with this question. Let's hang out and talk about it."

Hot Mama from Bidawee will be there!

Yeah, I don't know why you would approach Iha and talk to him about SP. It seems pretty rediculous and of course he doesn't want to talk about it especially to a fan boy.

Corgan is such a joke. He made three great albums - Gish, Siamese, and Pisces but then he made utter crap. I am so over his antics but it does entertain me. It's like a kid with special needs, you're like wtf is this joker up to?

Posted by Really? | June 12, 2012 4:54 PM

Sorry, but I have to agree that asking James how he feels about Billy is kind of a dick move. This is exactly why I don't approach celebs when I see them socially - I know I'll be asking some dick question or making some dick comment.

True story, one time this rando came up to me at a Yeah Yeah Yeah's gig at Bowery Ballroom in 2006, this random crap dude comes up to me and is asking me about Billy Corgan...uhhh whaa? Realized he thinks I'm Asian guy from Smashing Pumpkins (guess we all look alike?), smirk and walk away

True story - I once went to a Perfect Circle show and this bitch was wearing a home-made t-shirt that read "Yee-ha for James Iha."

Hard to believe, I know. White bitches are crazy.

I saw James Iha a couple times at NYC shows...spoke to him a few times..he was nice enough. I saw him at a few Fountains of Wayne gigs back in the day.

True story- once I was at Terminal 5 and some girl asked me if I knew how to prepare a robust hummus platter... I told her that I do, and we instantly began making out.

True story, one time this rando came up to me at a Yeah Yeah Yeah's gig at Bowery Ballroom in 2006, this random crap dude comes up to me and is asking me about Billy Corgan...uhhh whaa? So I went all TMI and told him about my 7.5 inches. Yeah, your cool bro.
