The Hives at The Studio at Webster Hall (more by Keith Marlowe)

The Hives are on tour and take on Terminal 5 tonight (6/22) (with Fidlar), and just in time the band has dropped a new live version of "Go Right Ahead". The track, culled from the new Adult Swim Singles series which is releasing 12 new tracks, 1 a week (UMO was first. Hives is second), can be heard below (for the very first time), and in its original form on the band's latest LP Lex Hives.

If you missed it, The Hives were recently added to MusicFestNW.

I've always loved the Hives but after killer albums #1 and #2, album #3 and now #4 seem less focused and not as good.
I liked them when their music was more raw punk influenced, now it just sounds like "big rock"

I would rather see the IPods, frankly -- more diversity from track to track!

I saw them last night and they kicked ass. Great crowd interaction.

Hives were fun, but seeing them live reminds me of one clear fact - that Europeans, especially Nordic Europeans, really are incapable of making music with any sophistication rhythmically or in wordplay (lyrics). Europeans create music like Ikea furniture - nice to look at but not built for durability over multiple uses.
That in mind, it was still a ton o' fun. Pelle really is a good front man, and a very energetic sympathetic crowd with a surprisingly low Crowd Douche Factor (CDF).

The hives frontman has been known to shove his crotch onto the face of unsuspecting attendees in the front row.

If you can walk away from a Hives show and say that you were not entertained, you are dead inside.

^you do realize that all the songs sound the same, right? or is that lost on you?

If your music consists of a drummer that hits the snare every 2 & 4 beats without deviation, you haven't been paying attention to music over the past 40 years.

The HEF (hummus eating factor) was also especially high at this show.

At the show last night I got so excited that I threw my bag of pita triangles off the 3rd floor balcony onto the floor crowd, so I had to eat the rest of my tub of concert hummus with slices of orange and maraschino cherries from the bar

4:49 - the Ramones' songs all sounded the same too, and they were highly entertaining as well. Not sure what your point is.

People eat hummus AT the shows? I thought that was a pre or post concert ritual.
Posted by Anonymous | June 24, 2012 8:44 AM
The hummus underground eats hummus pre-show, during show, and post-show.
The phyto-nutrients sustain us.

8:42 if you thought that the Ramones songs all sounded the same, you just weren't really listening. Dope.

4:17 - you're missing my point, jackass.

6:42 - you may want to look up the definition for "irony" . You actually missed the entire point, doofus.
