DJ Rashad

Chicago footwork producer DJ Rashad has been in a staple in the scene for some time now, and like Traxman, he's continuing to prove himself in a time where the genre is beginning to be embraced by newer artists like Howse and Supreme Cuts. Rashad's new LP, TEKLIFE Vol. 1: Welcome to the Chi, came out last month via Lit City Trax, and between that and Da Mind of Traxman, footwork is sounding pretty great in 2012. It's got tons of contemporary rap and R&B vocal clips (including a sample of "Niggas in Paris" on the album's title track) over the rapid nature of footwork beats. You can stream the entire album over at SPIN.

He's only got a few live dates scheduled at the moment, and one of those happens in NYC on Friday (7/6) at 285 Kent with Total Freedom, Wheez-ie, J-Cush, and "a couple of very secret surprise guests." A list of all dates and a snippet from the new album are below.
