Floating Points

UK producer Floating Points (aka Sam Shepherd) will be heading to North America for a few dates in August. While he's here, he'll hit up NYC for two shows, including Warm Up at MoMA PS1 on August 18 with Jacques Greene, Hieroglyphic Being, and Secret Circuit and another that same night (8/18) for Mister Saturday Night at House of Yes. Tickets for Warm Up are on sale now. Tickets for Mister Saturday Night are $15 before midnight with RSVP and $20 otherwise. More info and advance tix TBA. All Floating Points dates are listed below.

Floating Points' most recent release is the Shadows EP which came out towards the end of 2011. On the EP, he operates in a similar realm to most contemporary downtempo producers pulling from commonly used reference points like deep house and UK bass. But what makes Floating Points stand out in that scene is the heavy use of jazz fusion that he brings into the mix. His beats may not date back too far, but his wandering electric piano playing is heavily in debt to late '60s/early '70s Chick Corea and Herbie Hancock. You can stream clips of the entire Shadows EP below.

That EP stream and a list of all dates below...
