Jay-Z

So far today, we've posted news about Jay-Z cohort Kanye West, and about D'Angelo, who is playing Jay-Z's Made In America Fest -- and now we've got some updates on Jay himself. As mentioned, Jay will be playing multiple shows at the new Barclays Center in Brooklyn, where he is a director and where The Nets (who he partially owns) will be playing. One of those dates was already announced (September 28), and now two more have been revealed: September 29 and 30. Tickets for all three shows at the Brooklyn arena go on sale Friday (7/13) at 10 AM, but first an AmEx presale on July 11 from 10:00 a.m. through 10:00 p.m. "More than 7,000 tickets per show will be priced at under $30."

"JAY Z is Brooklyn and is the definitive artist to open Barclays Center," said Barclays Center CEO Brett Yormark. "We are thrilled that such an iconic world-class entertainer, not to mention a Brooklynite, will take the borough's biggest stage on three consecutive nights for what will surely be a historic experience for all fans."
A list of all dates, historic and otherwise, and a video below...

$37 to watch a screen? I'll spend $38 on liquor and watch youtube vids at home, snitches.

Posted by Anonymous | July 9, 2012 3:21 PM

Saying Jay-Z is from Tribeca is like saying Mark Zuckerberg is from Palo Alto. Everyone knows your wrong, and you're an idiot.

Posted by Congrats yo | July 9, 2012 3:21 PM

@LULZ >> pretty sure jay-z played 2 nights at MSG and 3 nights at izod less than a year ago in the span of three months, and no tickets were below-face day of show (even the $100-face-value nosebleeds). laugh it up, i'll take my chances.

Those lips were heavenly designed for optimal friend chicken consumption.

Posted by Anonymous | July 9, 2012 3:25 PM

This is why you are a moron fake scalper. You are absolutely wrong. There were many tickets available for all of these shows for less than face. Plenty of tickets to be had on the day of those shows. So yes i am laughing at you.

Posted by Anonymous | July 9, 2012 3:43 PM

"This will be a good run of shows people who say no are trolls or have never seen jay z live"

Keep quiet you idiot.

Posted by Anonymous | July 9, 2012 3:44 PM

Oh yes right 3:28. Sure. Uh Huh.

Posted by Anonymous | July 9, 2012 3:45 PM

Jeremy Lin meme vs. the iPods meme. Fight tonight at 11. Who's gonna take it!?

Posted by Anonymous | July 9, 2012 4:00 PM

hey jay, i heard they're demolishing the marcy projects to put up a new ice skating rink. pretty cool, right?

Posted by Anonymous | July 9, 2012 4:03 PM

I don't understand how you can even call someone a "fake scalper." Do you think I am pretending?

I made over $3,000 on the WTT tour NYC/NJ shows alone. I will make at least $1,000 on these Barclay shows. It's called knowing what you're doing.

I'm glad you're passing on these tickets though.

Posted by Anonymous | July 9, 2012 4:12 PM

Yes 4:12 that is probably true. Fortunately for me I'm not one of the idiots who panics and buys tickets when I get sold out because I resell also and am familiar with the waiting game.

Posted by Anonymous | July 9, 2012 4:15 PM

3:43, not sure what you are talking about. Aside from the Jay/Kanye shows in NJ, there were no tickets under face value outside the venue for any recent Jay Z show within the last few years.
Pricing tickets at 30 bucks is a joke. If you don't catch those tickets within the first 2 minutes of the onsale, you will not get them, unless Jay does a large ticket hold and releases a bunch on the day of.

Posted by Anonymous | July 9, 2012 4:16 PM

To add to 4:16, if Jay does 4 or more shows, the scalping market may bomb out. But if he keeps it at 3 shows, actually getting tickets for 30 bucks + TM fees will be difficult.

Posted by Anonymous | July 9, 2012 4:23 PM

jay z has very big lips

Posted by Anonymous | July 9, 2012 4:23 PM

Pricing the tickets at 30 bucks is nothing more than a public relations move, knowing that he would get critcism from Brooklyn residents who say that the people who supported him on his way up can't afford to see him.

Posted by Anonymous | July 9, 2012 4:26 PM

4:16 you are again very wrong. I personally bought tickets off craigs list for one of those shows for less than face the day of. I also know of at least 2 other people who grabbed tickets for less than face outside the venue.

It is you who does not know what you are talking about.

Also to 4:12, oh yeah i am sure everyone believes that you made all that money on those tickets. Oh yeah come to the BV comment section. An utter hotbed of truth telling.

Yes people, if someone claims it on BV then for sure it has to be true.

Posted by Anonymous | July 9, 2012 4:32 PM

Congrats yo, Jay Z actually is from Tribeca and has a house in Scarsdale as well.

Posted by Anonymous | July 9, 2012 4:35 PM

Honestly 4:32, why would I lie about something like that? It was extremely easy to make several thousand dollars on the Watch the Throne shows, especially since face value was ~$500 for floor seats, and people were consistently paying 4x face.

Anyone with a brain and no conscience got rich off those WTT shows; same will happen for these shows. If you disagree, then go ahead and buy four of the $30+fees tickets; I'll gladly pay you $40+fees for each one fifteen minutes after onsale (and will easily sell them for at least $60+fees less than an hour later).

And Jay-Z isn't 'from' Tribeca. He is from the Marcy Projects in Brooklyn. He currently resides in Tribeca, and owns a house in Scarsdale. That's like saying Bjork is from Manhattan.

Posted by Anonymous | July 9, 2012 4:49 PM

lulz @432 is so full of shit, if only because he claims to be some kind of hardcore 'real' scalper, and yet to him $3,000 can be considered 'all that money' with regards to scalping a set of extremely popular shows. fyi $3,000 is average for a set of shows of that caliber. it's almost underperforming. if you properly scalped every show on the throne tour, you probably should have pulled in over ten grand.

any 'real' scalper would be able to pull ~$1,000 from any stadium show done by a reputable performer, let alone the throne tour. fucking amateur hour on here.

Posted by Anonymous | July 9, 2012 4:55 PM

4:49, Jay Z is actually from Tribeca. I know people who live by him. He's not even really from Brooklyn!

Posted by Anonymous | July 9, 2012 5:03 PM

Jay-Z is an excellent performer. For the show he puts on, these prices are not ridiculous. Especially if you're a big fan of his.

Posted by ConcertBro | July 9, 2012 5:06 PM

Jay Z is from Long Island!

Posted by Anonymous | July 9, 2012 5:07 PM

at least the dude actually performs, unlike 80% of rappers who just hold the mic out to the crowd while their crew sprays bottles of sizzurp on each other (i'm looking at you, every living member of the wu tang clan aside from gza).

Posted by Anonymous | July 9, 2012 5:27 PM

Grape soda at rap shows...
Sausage at metal shows...
Hummus at the indie shows...

It actually sounds like a decent dinner to me.

Posted by Anonymous | July 9, 2012 5:48 PM

"Honestly 4:32, why would I lie about something like that?"

Cause you are a fucking loser troll with no life. Easy explanation.

Just like 4:55 said it. You are full of shit.

Posted by Anonymous | July 9, 2012 5:50 PM

Dear 5:50: I'm pretty sure 4:55 was calling you full of shit, not the other commenter.

Posted by Anonymous | July 9, 2012 7:05 PM

lololololol at everyone on here. it was so easy to make three g's on watch the throne. all you needed was a pair of tickets in the first 10 rows. face value 500, resale 2000+ for each tix. math kidz. a broker i know made a dirty amount of cash on those shows bc he had first row i hate that fuck.

Posted by Anonymous | July 9, 2012 7:10 PM

congrats j-adele!

Posted by Anonymous | July 9, 2012 7:40 PM

7:10 - You got lucky. At 500 per ticket, it is still a gamble. The scalping, or "secondary" market as its been called recently, could go either way. No matter how hot you think a show might be, if scalpers buy up too many seats, or if the artist adds more shows than the demand calls for, the market could bomb out. Granted, first 10 rows for any show is always in demand, but if the market turned sour, you could have ended up having to dump them off at 300 per ticket or less.
You can gloat all you want, but if you really are a scalper and do this sort of thing regularly, you have probably taken your lumps on a show that you thought would be an easy cash-in.

Posted by Anonymous | July 9, 2012 8:18 PM

But with that being said, if this is only 3 shows, I can't imagine this one being a loser for scalping. Actually being able to pay $30 + fees per ticket for this show will be difficult.

Posted by Anonymous | July 9, 2012 8:23 PM

818 not gloating, just sayin u gotta relax with the shit you're sayin bc i don't think anyone here is trollin xcept u dude. no one is gonna lose bills on 30 dollar jay-z tix, so don't come on here cursing people off about it

Posted by Anonymous | July 9, 2012 9:39 PM

I'm not cursing anyone off... In fact I said that 30 dollar tickets will be hard to come by, at 8:23.

Posted by Anonymous | July 9, 2012 11:01 PM

ugh...what a waste

Posted by Anonymous | July 9, 2012 11:28 PM

what time does Daft Punk go on?

Posted by Anonymous | July 10, 2012 12:57 AM

"Although there isn’t a limit on the number that can be purchased, Barclay Center officials are working with ticketmaster in an effort to block ticket brokers from scooping up all the lower priced ducats. " from the daily news.

what does this mean exactly??

Posted by Anonymous | July 10, 2012 6:32 PM

It means nothing. There was an 8 ticket limit. They didn't do shit to prevent anything.

Posted by Anonymous | July 11, 2012 10:25 PM

Wait till day of show, get tickets below face. Five shows stub hub is gonna have a buy one get one special.

Posted by Anonymous | July 11, 2012 11:34 PM
