The Melvins Lite at Lit, 6/30/2012
Melvins

Melvins (in "Lite" formation) played the shoebox that is Lit Lounge on Saturday night (6/30), joined by Hammerhead, Gay Witch Abortion and Seawhores. Much like they did at the Am-Rep anniversary show two years ago, Melvins switched things up by playing first. Pictures from the art exhibition/show are in this post.

The show was filmed by The Color of Noise crew, who are currently seeking funding for their Amphetamine Reptile documentary. The Kickstarter is currently only $2,700 away from their goal, with 48 hours left until it closes. Contribute if you can, the crew recently added more "rewards" for contribution.

The show was one of two for Hammerhead (who played DbA on Friday, 6/29) and Gay Witch Abortion (who played Union Pool on Sunday, 7/1).

There are more chances to see Melvins soon: they'll will be in your state this fall as part of their World Record attempt at "Fastest U.S. tour by a band.".

More pictures from Lit Lounge are below.

Mercury Lounge would have been better. Lit is unbearable.

11:09: Probably. I notice it all started to go downhill when they started collaborating with Big Business, which I feel diluted their music. Although, TBSM was not a bad album.

I admit that I wasn't at this show but I don't see how on Earth they thought they could properly amplify a stand-up acoustic bass played with a bow over Buzzo's guitar amps and Dale's drum pummeling? Also, for those who forked over $50, were they given any warning that Melvins were playing first? If not, what a total buzz kill to show up to LIT after one band played, only to be told that band was Melvins.

12:28: Because I have a different opinion that your's most likely, right? I especially love that you didn't provide backup to your shallow, little claim there.

man o man so many haters.
at least the owners of the club are huge fans of the MELVINS and are also supporters of there neighbors who needed a space for them to play for there friend Tom Hazelmyer.
Tom ( founder of Amphetamine Reptile), had an art show next door at Toy Tokyo and had his friend Buzzo play to celebrate his big NYC art show.
So instead of hating on a club that was trying to help and was actually excited to host the Melvins , admit it was a fun event and alot of people got to see the Melvins in a small room.
Last time i saw the Melvins play in a room that small it was in my home town in 1989.
that didnt sound that good but i had fun .
