Quicksand live at Rev 25 (via)
Quicksand

Quicksand have made good on their promise to play NYC before FYF in Los Angeles! The legendary NYC band WILL reunite to play NYC at Bowery Ballroom on August 24, their first NYC date since the band's dissolution more than thirteen years ago! Tickets go on sale Wednesday, August 1 at noon.

As discussed, Quicksand are not on board for the Revelation 25 celebration that will go down at Irving Plaza in October, but such bands as Chain of Strength, Youth of Today, Battery and more are.

Meanwhile, Dine Alone Records is reissuing Quicksand's 1993 album, Slip, on vinyl. Limited to 1500 copies, pre-orders start at 2PM today (7/31).

Check out the entire Quicksand performance from Pomona, CA's Glass House in June below, alongside some classic Quicksand videos.

"The one band that I never see a negative comment about. Love it."

The only negative I can think of is that Walter then went on to form the shitty Rival Schools.

Posted by Anonymous | July 31, 2012 4:14 PM

Nice! I'm glad they chose a venue large enough to fit all of their fans who have been waiting years to see them play again. I'm sure everyone will have no problem getting tickets after all the VIPS and industry folks are taken care of.. Bowery Ballroom is freakin HUGE!

Posted by Anonymous | July 31, 2012 4:22 PM

Hanly... so hot right now.

Posted by Anonymous | July 31, 2012 4:28 PM

Posted by Anonymous | July 31, 2012 4:29 PM

lol $25 tickets. 8x face.

Posted by Anonymous | July 31, 2012 4:42 PM

"Ugh, Bowery."

So you tell us where they should play at instead then. And none of this privileged Brooklyn venue nonsense either.

Carry on with the positive energy, fellas.

Hey all, this definitely seems like one to dust off the plugs for, given the recent violence at shows just curious what y'all think the situation will be at this one?

Posted by Anonymous | July 31, 2012 4:49 PM

BAD ASS!!!!!!!

Posted by Anonymous | July 31, 2012 4:50 PM

@449 i'd be very, very surprised if you didn't get stabbed at this show.

Posted by Anonymous | July 31, 2012 4:57 PM

I'm prim and I'm serpentine. I'M PRIM AND I'M SERPENTINE.

Posted by PREIMTEIM | July 31, 2012 6:06 PM

First EP is the only thing worth talking about.

Posted by Anonymous | July 31, 2012 6:22 PM

I'll stage dive at this show.

Posted by Hanly | July 31, 2012 8:27 PM

6:22 I am sorry you don't like Manic Compression but East 3rd, Brown Gargantuan and the radio friendly (at least in the 90s) Thorn in my side f'ing classics

8x face emo show? Haha.... I've benn waiting to take some of those kids $$$!

Posted by Anonymous | July 31, 2012 9:45 PM

Posted by Anonymous | August 1, 2012 9:15 AM

^ STFU

Posted by Anonymous | August 1, 2012 9:19 AM

FART. I'm going to Quicksand.

Posted by Anonymous | August 1, 2012 9:46 AM

I can't decide if they are best described as ... pedestrian? generic? uneventful? beige? boring? forgetful?

Posted by Anonymous | August 1, 2012 9:55 AM

^ talent-neutral?

Posted by Anonymous | August 1, 2012 10:20 AM

^poor man's Fugazi?

Posted by Anonymous | August 1, 2012 10:34 AM

Right on, 9:31. But then of course, the hipsters always like to pretend that only early stuff is worth listening too. Slip is still a great record, but...

Manic Compression for the touchdown!

This show will rule.

Posted by Anonymous | August 1, 2012 10:47 AM

I'm going to FART Quicksand and your not :-)

Posted by Anonymous | August 1, 2012 10:55 AM

"yes, talent neutral. perfect for all the poser sausage boys, now +75 lb overweight but still loser idiots."

OMG did u hear tha neu dirty projectors and hot chip and passion pit? amazin!!!

Posted by Anonymous | August 1, 2012 11:28 AM

^ LULZ "OMG" whatta flame boy. You still cock drunk from the abuse you suffered from your town's HS football team last night? I think that's how they came up with your state's name - screaming from anal rape "I!OW! A!"

Posted by Anonymous | August 1, 2012 11:51 AM

Is this thing sold out? Tried right at 12 noon and ticketmaster couldnt find tickets.

Posted by Jim | August 1, 2012 12:12 PM

^ Some insult that was, trendie. Sure got me there! Maybe if you spent less time stuffed in lockers there, you wouldn't be trying to hard to be hip with your "insults" there, you flamer.

Tell the guys from Cut Copy I said hi

Posted by Anonymous | August 1, 2012 12:20 PM

Argh. Sold out in 13 fucking minutes.

Posted by RC | August 1, 2012 12:24 PM

I also tried right at noon and nada. What a joke. Either they released next to no tickets or there's a whole lot of automatic buying going on.

Posted by Anonymous | August 1, 2012 12:42 PM

Same here, 12:42.

Posted by Anonymous | August 1, 2012 12:50 PM

Uh, YEAH. That's why they call me Sleejaw.

Posted by Sleejaw. | August 1, 2012 2:31 PM

Welcome to 2012. For people with no jobs and limitless income who can sit around and resell tickets.

Posted by Anonymous | August 1, 2012 3:53 PM

I tried repeatedly at exactly 12:00 and no luck. Called ticketmaster at 12:10 and was told "that show sold out in seconds". By 12:15 there were tickets on stubhub for $150 each. F you Ticketmaster!

Posted by Anonymous | August 1, 2012 6:19 PM

@619 yeah, cause that's ticketmaster's fault.... idiot.

Posted by Anonymous | August 1, 2012 6:39 PM

^Why are quicksand fans so dumb? I thought quicksand was supposed to be the thinking man's sausage rock.

Posted by Anonymous | August 1, 2012 6:53 PM

Sorry...I didn't mean to upset any loyal ticketmaster fans. They do provide a wonderful and fair priced service.

Posted by Anonymous | August 1, 2012 7:06 PM

I made $700 off four tickets. Wow!

Posted by Anonymous | August 1, 2012 7:13 PM

Are we all just suckers? It's like I keep killing myself to make it to see bands that "broke up" 12 years ago. I remember when it was a big deal 3-4 years ago that Gorilla Biscuits and YoT started doing some shows. Then the all play this super happy reunion show tat will be the only time to ever see them again. Yet they then go on to tour and play sporadically over the years. Refused is back. VOD is coming out with a new album. However if Judge or Burn play a show I would probably loose my shit and pay something stupid. We are all just nostalgic for our youth I suppose.
