Sigur Ros at Skyline Stage 7/29/2012
Sugur Ros

Sigur Ros's played the Skyline Stage in Philadelphia last night (7/29). The show marked the Sigur Ros's return to the US as part of a tour that hits a sold-out Prospect Park tomorrow (7/31), the US indoctrination of their new LP Valtari, as well as the inaugural show at the new Skyline Stage at The Mann Center (they also bless that stage tonight). Perfume Genius, who is on tour with the Icelandic crew, supported last night and will again tonight. In celebration of the event, the venue gave away collectible cards featuring Sigur Ros. Check out one of those cards below alongside more pictures from the show and the setlist.

In interesting Sigur Ros related news, the band's producer, Birgir Jón Birgisson, will produce the new Alcest LP:

"Hello there! Some days ago Winterhalter and I recorded demos for the next Alcest album, for which I have almost finished the songwriting. Only a few arrangements are missing, and the lyrics as well... In our case they always come late in the process... I feel very excited about these songs and this new approach feels very refreshing to me. I also can tell that the album will be recorded next March in Iceland at Sundlaugin, Sigur Rós' studios, with producer Birgir Jón Birgisson. There will also be guests appearances - more infos about this will come later. I will keep you posted!" -[Neige of Alcest]
Very interesting.

That trading card, pictures and the setlist are below.

This show was epic. Yuppies and parents who are planning on bringing their babies to the show tomorrow. Please stay in the back and do the talking there.

Last night's show was quiet for the most part so I'm hoping for the best tomorrow....

wishful thinking right?

Posted by Anonymous | July 30, 2012 12:13 PM

Not many people there, guess this band has peaked.

Posted by Anonymous | July 30, 2012 12:14 PM

Unbelievable setlist. Can only hope for Vithrar in brooklyn tomorrow

Posted by Anonymous | July 30, 2012 12:15 PM

do they mix up their sets much? should we expect the same or similar tomorrow night? i'm excited.

Posted by Anonymous | July 30, 2012 12:19 PM

How long did they play for?

Posted by Anonymous | July 30, 2012 12:21 PM

12:14 PM - BOTH shows were sold out, people were spread out because it was in a park

Posted by Anonymous | July 30, 2012 12:23 PM

12:21 got on at 9:15 show ended 11:15

Posted by Anonymous | July 30, 2012 12:24 PM

had a blast last night and cant wait to experience it again tonight

Posted by Anonymous | July 30, 2012 12:24 PM

The should play gobbldigook as an antidote to the gloom of that setlist...

Posted by Anonymous | July 30, 2012 12:25 PM

E-Bow was great! Highlight of the show for me...

12:25 Hoppípolla is pretty cheerful!

Posted by Anonymous | July 30, 2012 12:26 PM

BTW Everyone keep quiet during the break in Vidrar Phili almost got it 100% perfect!

Posted by Anonymous | July 30, 2012 12:30 PM

do people fall asleep during these performances? man, if you choose the wrong drugs, you might miss some of the show!

Posted by Anonymous | July 30, 2012 12:36 PM

Animal Collective rules!

Posted by Anonymous | July 30, 2012 12:36 PM

I got shivers up my spine when I hear the build up in Vidrar!

Posted by Anonymous | July 30, 2012 12:41 PM

what time is the curfew at prospect park?

Posted by Anonymous | July 30, 2012 12:48 PM

"what time is the curfew at prospect park?"

typically 1030

Posted by Anonymous | July 30, 2012 12:53 PM

Show last night was absolutely incredible! GREAT setlist! Can't wait to do it again tonight!

Posted by Anonymous | July 30, 2012 12:55 PM

Did anyone get bored?

Posted by Anonymous | July 30, 2012 12:59 PM

^Waiting for them to come on sure..once they are on..not a chance.

Posted by Anonymous | July 30, 2012 1:04 PM

don't know if it is the case now, but I picked up a ticket thru ticketmaster on Friday.

Posted by Anonymous | July 30, 2012 1:09 PM

Dang no glosoli

Posted by Sand | July 30, 2012 1:09 PM

remember to stop at whole foods and H&M on your way, wouldnt want to be the only yuppie sheep there who is not following the heard.

Posted by Anonymous | July 30, 2012 1:25 PM

1:25, i find that comment hurtful :(

Posted by Anonymous | July 30, 2012 1:29 PM

all the 'sigur ros makes me sleepy' people must not listen to any slow music (they are obviously the same as the 'bon iver makes me sleepy' and 'the xx makes me sleepy' people).

Posted by Anonymous | July 30, 2012 1:39 PM

1:25 yeah Sigur Ros fans follow the heard...umm yeah

Posted by Anonymous | July 30, 2012 1:42 PM

I like to follow the "heard." How do the illiterati afford computers?

Posted by Anonymous | July 30, 2012 1:47 PM

Typical sausage lame attempts at trolling. How do I know sausages so well? To paraphrase Jack Nicholson "I think of how normal people would act, then remove all logic and accountability"

Posted by Anonymous | July 30, 2012 1:47 PM

If Untitled 8 makes you sleepy, you're deaf.

It's gona be epic tomorrow!

Posted by Anonymous | July 30, 2012 2:16 PM

white people are so scared...of black people

Posted by Anonymous | July 30, 2012 2:25 PM

Fantastic show last night. Can't wait for round two tonight. First time seeing them and they exceeded my expectations. Amazing setlist. All you Brooklyn folks are in for a treat tomorrow night. Enjoy.

Posted by Anonymous | July 30, 2012 2:26 PM

1:47: And how do you know they are metal fans to begin with? Answer: You don't. Oh, and next time come up with something original, instead of paraphrasing a movie quote.

FWIW, I like metal AND I'm a Sigur Ros fan. Oh boy! Who would've thought someone like that exists here in New York!

Posted by Anonymous | July 30, 2012 3:14 PM

"how do you know they are metal fans to begin with? Answer: You don't"
"FWIW, I like metal"

Silly sausage, you really need to stop mucking around in things like logic. You really are over your head.

Posted by Anonymous | July 30, 2012 3:22 PM

yikes. i'm 1:47(1)... i didn't necessarily agree with 1:47(2), but 3:14's failure might sway me.

Posted by Anonymous | July 30, 2012 3:29 PM

No talking where i was at. You could hear crickets in between parts of the song. I was 25 ft from the stage. awesome show, venue and sunset. Perfume Genius was a downer though. I felt like screaming.

Posted by Anonymous | July 30, 2012 3:40 PM

"Perfume Genius was a downer though. I felt like screaming."

Lol, can't wait! Hahaa

Posted by Anonymous | July 30, 2012 3:51 PM

I couldn't understand the words he was singing, not much of a crooner, is he?

Posted by Todd | July 30, 2012 4:11 PM

how long did perfume genius play for?

Posted by Anonymous | July 30, 2012 4:12 PM

340pm I'm glad I wasn't the only one that wanted to pull my hair out during Perfume Genius! Definitely skipping it tonight and tomorrow....total snooze fest except Neil Young cover.

Set times for tomorrow should look like this:
Doors 6pm
Perfume Genius 7-740pm
Sigur Ros 815-1015pm

Posted by Anonymous | July 30, 2012 4:51 PM

As someone who travelled and worked to get tickets to the first show they announced, I feel a little gipped that not only did they put this show on a better day(a weekend), but this set list was way better than last night's. This show gets E-Bow, Svefn-g-englar, and Daudalogn while we had to sit through most of Takk..? Bullshit

Posted by Anonymous | July 31, 2012 8:49 AM

@8:49 - I was at both nights and both shows were incredible! I feel sorry for you if you feel that you got "gipped". Are you seriously complaining about the additions of Gong and Glósóli??! Think of all of the amazing moments from last night's show and feel thankful about what you actually got to experience...not what you feel you missed out on. Breathe in, breathe out - positivity will take you a long way, my friend.

Posted by Anonymous | July 31, 2012 8:59 AM

Tonight should be awesome. Great weather, this show is magic #3 of the tour, and it's in Prospect Park. Good things are afoot for tonight!

Posted by Anonymous | July 31, 2012 9:06 AM

You trendoids should have seen them in 2004. You are all late to the party, sadly. If you got to see them at Irving Plaza you are truly special, otherwise might as well rent the video.

Posted by Anonymous | July 31, 2012 9:15 AM

@8:59 - positivity gets you albums like Takk.., but I agree it was an excellent show. I'd have much preferred the first setlist, though

Posted by Anonymous | July 31, 2012 9:20 AM

I saw them at the Beacon in 2002 during the () tour...am I special 915?

Posted by Anonymous | July 31, 2012 9:29 AM

9:29 - yes you are special. here's a cookie.

Posted by Anonymous | July 31, 2012 9:35 AM

^great I love cookies!

Posted by Anonymous | July 31, 2012 9:41 AM

fuck this is gonna be great 2nite

Posted by Anonymous | July 31, 2012 9:43 AM

Ny Batteri live is soo good!

Posted by Anonymous | July 31, 2012 10:54 AM

"yikes. i'm 1:47(1)... i didn't necessarily agree with 1:47(2), but 3:14's failure might sway me."

Sure you are, 1:47(2). Oh, and the only failure is your failure to realize that someone can be fans of both types of music. Or even more. Sorry.

Posted by Anonymous | July 31, 2012 11:02 AM

^ really, REALLY confused sausage

Posted by Anonymous | July 31, 2012 11:23 AM

yeah really. 11:02 - I'm the commenter. I was 1:47(1). I'm not sure I even understand where you were (trying) to go with this comment. Go back to sleep or something.

Posted by Anonymous | July 31, 2012 11:26 AM

I'd love to play "Who's Hitting You Now" with this confused sausage - he's be looking forward at what he thinks is the sole "Mr. Anti-Sausage" and the legion of other commenters that he is aggregating into this cartoon character would be boxing his ears, striking his kidneys, breaking out his teeth, and kicking him square in the 'nads. Kinda like on here, only with actual consequences. Would love to see him cling to this fantasy of a single Anti-Sausage then.

Posted by Anonymous | July 31, 2012 11:29 AM

i saw them at irving plaza in may 2001.

they were really good.

somebody fainted next to me.

it was a pretty show.

also, FART.

Posted by Anonymous | July 31, 2012 11:45 AM

Was at the first night...wow! Amazing show. My only complaint was that I wanted them to play forever. I wish they had played Glosoli the first night but they played lots of other favorites so it's okay!

Posted by Rhonda | July 31, 2012 1:12 PM

Didn't they play Sé Lest at some point on the first night???

Posted by Ana | July 31, 2012 4:31 PM

Sorry you trendies can't make the show. Actually, no we're not sorry. Stay home and be online badass like you do every weekend night.

Posted by Anonymous | July 31, 2012 4:43 PM

4:31: I would've loved to finally see that song live.

Posted by Anonymous | August 1, 2012 4:47 PM
