Orchestre Poly-Rythmo!!!

If you're able to get to Summerstage today, you really, really should. It is a rare privilege to get to see this band -- this will only be the 2nd time in their 40+ year-career that they've played North America -- and they were amazing when they were at the Lincoln Center Festival a couple years ago. Not to be missed.

Why are white people sad?

Posted by Anonymous | July 22, 2012 1:49 PM

I would like to see an iPods date -- they're a band with real diversity from track to track!

Posted by Anonymous | July 22, 2012 1:56 PM

I hate to admit it, but I laughed at 1:56

Posted by Anonymous | July 22, 2012 2:21 PM

CHROMATICS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Posted by Anonymous | July 22, 2012 2:43 PM

Laughed at 1:56 too. Not proud of it.

Posted by Anonymous | July 22, 2012 3:22 PM

Am I the only person who doesn't laugh at the iPods comment?

Posted by Anonymous | July 22, 2012 3:40 PM

1:56 - I'm not proud to admit it, and in fact as penance I'm going to have to flay myself alive and remove my own dick with a pair of white-hot tweezers, but still, the fact remains: I laughed.

Posted by Anonymous | July 22, 2012 4:00 PM

^ Sorry to hear that brah. It would take a good deal of effort with a white-hot battle axe to remove my own dick. It must be hard, ya know, to have such a small small penis.

Posted by Anonymous | July 22, 2012 4:10 PM

No 3:40, but you are the only person that get played every time by the follow up comments. OK, maybe not the only person, but one of the few.

Posted by Anonymous | July 22, 2012 4:11 PM

Huh 4:11? I just did not find it funny. But other people clearly do. : (

Posted by Anonymous | July 22, 2012 4:43 PM

^
no one does. clearly. why does it bother you so? you don't have to answer - it's a rhetorical question.

Please stop feeding the trolls.

Posted by Anonymous | July 22, 2012 6:06 PM

what's the best information anyone has for Chromatics' stage time?

Posted by Anonymous | July 22, 2012 6:22 PM

This is 4:43. Just wondering if I am missing out on something! Asked my girlfriend if she thought it was funny and she smiled but did not laugh and wondered why I cared. I don't really care but prefer not to miss out on something!

Posted by Anonymous | July 22, 2012 6:22 PM

^clearly a 28 year old virgin.

No one actually laughs at the Ipod joke. It is one pathetic moron who keeps posting it and his idiot comments after such as these:

1)I admit I laughed and thought it was funny

2)It is just an innocent joke, people should relax. Why get so worked up.

3)It think the joke is dumb but cute and other people seem to like it.

Instead of asking if anyone finds it funny, which just fuels this idiot's stupidity and keeps him going, copy and paste the above list of schtick followups right after he makes the ipod joke. He will go away soon enough when he sees no one is falling for his bit anymore. Remember he is a loser troll who feeds off serious reactions.

anyone know when Iceage go on?

Posted by Anonymous | July 22, 2012 7:53 PM

1:56 HA!

Posted by Anonymous | July 22, 2012 8:04 PM

7:53 - I'm wondering too. With three bands before them and the first one on at 9pm, I'm guessing around 11:30pm...but that's just a guess.

Goddamnit, Port. Goddamnit.

Iceage made a great album but they simply can't pull it off live. All the subtle layering and nuance that makes the LP such a great post-punk hardcore statement is lost and they rush through their songs like they can't wait to not have to play 'em again. Add the fact that they (rightly) are paranoid to not be perceived as the Pitchfork endorsed new boy band of hardcore (thus knocking people's camera phones out of their hands) and you've got a live mess. Judging from his appreciation of Sean/Martial Canteral and Dirty Beaches, I have a feeling the singer is gonna start concentrating a lot more on Var moving forward.

Posted by Anonymous | July 23, 2012 1:48 AM

I preferred Ice Age 2: The Meltdown

Posted by Anonymous | July 23, 2012 7:39 AM

^ me too. I think that is where Iceage got their name from, being kids and stuff

Posted by Anonymous | July 23, 2012 8:32 AM

I second what 148 said. I saw Iceage at 285 Kent Saturday. Was pretty underwhelmed. I really loved the album, but the performance was so muddy. Hard to tell which songs they were playing. I saw them last year at a festival and really liked them. But I was very drunk and in the pit. And I'm getting too old to be that drunk and in the pit.
