Braids at BV-CMJ 2011 (more by Amanda Hatfield)
Braids

Braids (not Braid, who just played NYC on their tour) will be in NYC for ATP I'll Be Your Mirror on Pier 36 on September 23, and they've just announced a few other Northeast dates surrounding that festival. Those dates include a show at Maxwell's on September 18. Tickets for that show go on sale Friday (8/17) at noon. All dates are listed below.

Braids are also planning to release the followup to 2011's Native Speaker in early 2013 with a darker and "more electronic-based" album. Regarding the new album, the band told SPIN:

We could play [Native Speaker] cuts for hours on end and we would never get drained. But some of these songs we're like, 'Oh this is kind of a dark song.' If you work on it for more than a couple hours it starts to get pretty dark in the room. You have to take a break and go get lunch or something then finish the song. It's been a good emotional journey for sure.

Fill in the blank for every ATP act, literally.

Glad to hear Braids got a new album coming out. Their debut album was one of my favorite in 2010.
